4K CABVIEW: From Ål to Alnabru Freight Terminal in Oslo
Today we're heading from Ål to Alnabru Freight Terminal in Oslo. This terminal is the main hub for all freight on rails in the Oslo Area. This is a particular long trip from Ål due to heaps of waiting on passing loops for westbound trains. Interesting moments in the Drammen area as I'm diverted through Sundland Depot, getting permission ot pass signals that are faulty. Later I'm diverted over the old Drammen Line between Asker and Sandvika! Yes, that means we're going OUTSIDE the tunnels this time! I'm also passing through Oslo S going up to Bryn via the Kværner loop. All of these moments has been marked in the CHAPTERS & TIMESTAMPS below with an ❗

One of the best-produced train videos ever! I traveled on this line a as a passenger, though obviously not the freight sections which were very interesting. I especially appreciated the speed and location notes. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos!
Thank you! ❤️

That was very enjoyable to watch. Interesting to go on lines we haven't seen before. The quality of the filming is so good at 4K. I can understand why it took so long to edit and render. Thanks for taking the time and care to do so good a job (including driving of course)
So glad you enjoyed it
@@RailCowGirl And we are soooooo glag that you are replying us. Keep up the good work.✌️✌️
Proper slow TV, love it. Thank you! And thank you for the care, you put into your videos. There aren't many days when I don't watch one. I find them incredibly therapuetic...
Glad you enjoy it! ❤️
I love to fall asleep to the electric motors.
@@richardscathouse I do too! And then get rudely awakened when she has to signal a warning horn! 😀 I’m getting pretty good at figuring out a volume just loud enough to hear the engines, yet quiet enough to sleep through the warning horns. This is better than meditation!
hmmm maybe I'll make some compilations lasting an hour, clipping out the horn sound :D
@@RailCowGirl Ha ha! If others would like this, then I say go for it. Personally, when I’m not trying to sleep, and I see the diagonal sign, I always honk the horn with you. But I’m not sure where your horn is located. Do you pull a string from the rood like truck drivers use? Or do you have a button on your console? These are the questions that keep me up at night. 😉
Nice ending... it was good to see what you hauled. Great video.
My sister & I live in the state of Georgia USA & have become addicted to your videos. Both of us are older & can't get out to travel much & your video gives us a way to see something we would ever get the chance to see otherwise. Your videos are great & so appreciated by us old folks! Thank you!
I discovered your channel a little over a week ago. I am recovering from surgery and this is the most pleasant way I can imagine spending my convalescence. I’ve learned that Norway is a beautiful country and that I should have been a train driver! Well, I’m retired now so it is too late now! Thank you for the marvelous education and entertainment. Stay safe.
Hey there Katie, I hope your surgery was a success and that you recovery goes well. I'm glad my videos is makes this phase much easier. Stay tuned for more videos in the near future :D
Four hours and thirty-three minutes of cab view heaven thanks to RailCowGirl...😇🇳🇴
Yaay! Thank you! ❤️
Thank you so much RCG!! I spent most of last year riding with you as I did my rehab exercises post-hand surgery. Surprised at how quiet your freight engine cab is; thought it would be clattery and gasp-y (like some of your older passenger engines). The ride "feels" much heavier, more ponderous--more weight to start and stop, I guess. Thanks for coming back and for your hard work putting it all together!
I discovered your channel during covid lockdown & live them. I have them on while working on my laptop. Makes me feel like im on the train going somewhere & when they’re done. Its my signal for a break.
Thanks a lot, glad you like them!
So happy to ride with you again RCG! My first trip since we aren't moving passengers. This is different, but the same, with notable exceptions. I am enjoying the difference, and I hope you are too! The video @ 4K is great, and I appreciate the professional editing you bring to this pleasant trip. Thanks for the happy times!
Wow, available at 4 K. Got a couple of stills at that level, with my net access can only view at 720. Absolutely spectacular. Thank you for the huge amount of superb work.
Yep, my videos has been available in 4K for the past five years or something :D Pretty insane how far we have come :D
@@RailCowGirl I always watch in chat and that is not even an option for me there. I watch at least an hour a day. All I can say is thank you.
OMG RCG, this is the best Winter Wonderland ever ! I like the horn on this engine, and I like seeing "passing time" instead of "arrival/departure" time ! hehhehheh. More please ! Love this 4K viewing too !
Thank you so much!
living in the tropics I can intellectually understand short winter days and long winter nights, but seeing this night sky at 5pm really hits home.
Driving into the night is great. Thank you 🙂💖
You’re welcome 😊
Hi from snowy Ohio USA! I love your videos. I watch them while I walk on my treadmill. I walk a 5k takes me about an hour.
Wounderfuel Video. Thumbs up👍
Many thanks
Wow! Every video surpasses what came before. Was well worth the wait. Thank you very much for spending the time preparing another masterpiece.
Thank you so much! Glad you like it.
Absolutely love these videos. They’re so calming and relaxing. They really help to de-stress and relax. They also help me fall asleep. Thank you for making these videos, I don’t think I can tell you how much they help in getting rid of my stress.
Beautiful, new lines for me. I love the night videos with the lights up on the hills. I love the daytime videos too, almost like 2 different worlds. Thanks for a great show!
Wow, this is just a plain new lovely video. Starting off with the Sun at your back and a frosted landscape headed into a Nordic night … You could not have a more beautiful, cozy, dreamy setting. Getting better all the time. A video to dream with!
I have to say it yet again … this was one lovely train cab video … loved the notes you put in to explain things to us … you talked gradient, momentum, sharing a track with the local train, etc.. Loved your notes to point out the “forever pile” and the train spotter. … you were talking to us and that was much appreciated.
Amazing ride. I was happy to see new tracks and depots. I love it when there are many tracks intersecting with each other.
Thank you so much RCG. Your videos brighten up my day and take me to a happy place.
Thank you so much!
Thank you what a ride! My grandpas and uncles were engineers, I understand the thrill!
Thank you for watching :D Ah, where did they work? :D
Thanks to your videos, I know this route very well. But to make a trip by freight train is an incredible feeling and experience! Oslo looks especially beautiful at night! Good trip and as always in excellent quality!
Wohoo! It's finally friday, I found the LAST 6-pack of christmas beer in the store on my way home from work, and now I'm just going to relax, drink beer and watch this in ONE go. Have a great weekend! :D
Whoop whoop! :D
I like your video very much, I can lie down at home and enjoy the fun of traveling abroad ^_^ Thank you for your efforts and sharing.
Glad you like them! ❤️❤️
Welcome back RailCowGirl, Happy New Year To You !!!
Happy new year to you too :)
I've had a quick look on the computer and It does look really interesting, I'm saving it for the weekend when I have more time and can see it on a big screen, looking forward to it. Well done RCG must have been hard work. Thank you much.
Lovely to see a new route. Enjoyed every minute.
I agree this channel has one of the best railcam videos. I am a fan of rail vids and have seen and do see a lot of them but this is one of the best. The added comments make it more interesting. A request: If possible please add the tunnel names and length to make it more interesting.Thank you for these great videos.
I already have videos where every tunnel with length is named :D
Another great experience I was able to relive was through your excellent video. the picture quality was great! Thank you for sharing it with us!
Thank you so much!
Just today discovered this great channel and just subscribed. I’ve always known trains are cool , and these certainly are.
Watching from Tennessee USA. Glad to see a new route, especially at night. Also, it was good to see bigger towns and the Christmas decorations👍🏽
Thank you so much!
I enjoyed watching your videos when I lived in the States, now that I live here in Norway it's a little surreal seeing the stations I regularly use from your perspective!
Many thanks, D, for another winner of a video! I enjoyed the 'railway humour' where you used a traditional term, 'CONN-troller' coupled with the relatively new use of the word 'Troll'!! All of your captions make the journey more interesting and out-of-way happenings better understood. Congratulations on successful move from passenger to freight driving. Regard, Martin
Yet another fabulous video. The scenery in Norway is just flat-out and outright gorgeous and beautiful and everything else that goes with it. Well done RailCowGirl! 😊😊😊
Thank you so much!
As with all your videos RCG, it was a pleasure to ride along with you. Love this route. Very enjoyable, with the new site's and especially going through the rail yards. Fun to watch with all the switching being done. Thanks RCG.
Thank you so much!
Always a pleasure having you passing through my town, Drammen, choo-choo away :-)
Whoop whoop! :D
love watching these vids, so relaxing, hypnotic almost!
Glad you like them!
Top notch video RCG🤗 It amazes me how the drive wheels get enough traction to get going from a standing start with such a load to pull!
The magic is a combination of traction weight slack in in couplings and how the weight pulls the loco down on the track
Lovely watching that. Thanks 😉
👍🦜Thanks for the great video. Love the travel and sights !!
Thank you so much!
Thank you so relaxing love the city lights
Thank you so much!
I give the video's on this channel a thumbs up, hoping others will like them as much as we all do. Thanks for making these. 😃
I enjoyed this video more than your passenger train videos. I loved the different stops, routes and rules that you must abide by now. The slower speeds I tend to see better views of scenery along the routes. Please keep going with your videos of the beautiful scenery of Norway.
Thank you, very happy that you enjoyed the video :)
I find these fascinating and indeed calming. And what is really fascinating is going through the long tunnels, especially the one at Lier, where other trains approach and pass. Please keep up the great work, ma'am, and stay safe.
Thank you for watching!
@@RailCowGirl You're welcome, ma'am!
Your views are very relaxing and beautiful; especially during the very hot summer times in Texas where I live.
Glad you enjoy it!
Just loved it, I wake up early in the morning and watch your video and sip coffee. Good job.
That sounds great! Thank you so much!
Casting this magnificent brand new video to my 4K TV to enjoy while practicing piano in the warmth and comfort of my living room! Thank you so much RailCowGirl for all of the many, many hours of hard work that went into this soon-to-be breathtaking Train Ride! Going to support your video now by donating through SuperChat on your Live Channel; Thank You again! 🚂
Good stuff as usual!

I like to say I love this video I can't wait for more RCG.

State of the art RCG, and a happy new year to you!
Happy new year to you too! :D ❤️❤️
Yeah, buts it's only a rental
Cool… Having a full moon is an added bonus! Beautiful run!
It sure does! :D
Thanks so much for another exciting video, RailCowGirl. Have you grown to hate flashing orange signals yet? The nice thing about delayed freight is it doesn’t bitch and moan about missing another connection on another train, bus or whatever. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and hope 2022 brings you lots of happiness and joy!
Happy new year, and welcome back! 😊
Happy new year!!
Another bright spot in this video …. You are running underneath a full moon. Nice

@RailCowGirl Excellent Work, The Freight Train Looked Awesome.
Thank you so much!
I'm not sure if it's a requirement but it's very kind, thoughtful, and courteous of you to dim your headlights when encountering vehicular traffic on the highway.
Nice video RCG! I hope you have a great new year RCG

I noticed Christmas trees on this new video so you obviously worked very hard to get this one out in the time you did. This is a great addition to your catalogue and I thank you whole heartedly.P.S. nice work on NG by the way.
Thank you ❤️
Beautiful ride!
Thank you!
Just finished the whole video (over 4 days ) . I’ve cycled on my racing bike ( fixed back wheel ) with you for the 4.5 hours. Very enjoyable, changing resistance and speed to try and match your changing speeds relatively speaking of course. Sprints between say 4 or 5 electric catenaries is good. Thanks for posting these lovely videos !!!
This is awesome! ❤️
I've been running 120km/h, I feel really fast 🙂
tur det Norge.
When I first seen these train videos I was watching a chris rea video "looking for the summer" great video anyways I started watching more next thing I know I'm hooked to see the majestic mountains and beautiful rivers its definitely on my bucket list.
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed the video :)
Nice one! I really enjoy the night videos as I am quite the night owl. It took me a few days to watch the whole thing. But, well worth it!

One day I may visit your beautiful country - in the mean time, I will travel the tracks with you. It's amazing, especially since here in Australia it is Summer and 36C to 40C daily right now.
A new video from RCG, happy days!^..^
Yaaay!
Drat. I thought I knew the Ål to Oslo S route pretty well, and now I've got to learn new things. Oh, the humanity!
She took The Randsfjord Line right.
Hehehe! In life knowledge is always evolving ;)
love your videos rail cow girl. wish i could meet you and talk about railroads with you for hours. i love to learn about other countries and how they do things. god bless you.
Thank you thank you :D Talking railroad is the best! :D
Thank You 😊
Thank you for watching!
Thanks for an interesting trip, well explained along the way. How do you disconnect from the train at the terminal? Can you disconnect and set the brakes on the train from the cab without someone on the ground?
Thx 👍🤘🖖
Yay! the video where I was scared by the honk at Drammen :D
You were AWESOME for coming out! ❤️
@@RailCowGirl When im home and you pass i might as well go wave :D
Wicked! :D I'll make sure you know when I'm going to pass next time :D Same With ItsBurn :D we'll be meeting up with him if he's at work at Alnabru next time I'm there :D
Having watched multiple rail channels, I'm convinced Norway has the quietest trains in the world -- at least from inside the locomotive cabin.
We have high noise requirements. Since the health requirements for hearing are high. The requirements to make sure hearing loss due to noise won’t put out of a job is high as well.
So nice
Thank you!
Locomotives appear to have cabs on both ends. A walk thru the locomotive from one cab to he other would be quite interesting
Hi. I want to ask who is uncoupling the waggons? Is it done automatic? I saw nobody from shunting personnel? And as You stopped the train (to uncoupling the cars and go to the neighbour track), it was few seconds... amazing.
Awesome, greetings....
Thank you so much!
coming in to trolldalen before the switch you can see the brown snow were the loco put down sand on the outside rail.
As usually in the last few years, a great video, very relaxing, very unwinding. Thank you very much! I have a question: WHY are the poles that support the overhead lines ALWAYS placed on the outside of a curve? For example, if the train goes to the right, the poles are on the left side, and viceversa. What is the engineering reason behind it?
Love these videos. We pretend to be on the trains for the spectacular views.
Glad you like them! ❤️
Oh no! not the mound!😜
The MOUND! DUNN DUNN DUNN!
thank you perfeckt video!!! when you plan next video??? you now driving just cargo?
