  • I love how these videos reframe cleaning as fun - yesterday I was tidying and I said out loud “now we take out the trashes!” and it made me laugh. Feeling shame about mess is paralysing but saying to yourself “yay, look at this wonderful dust” and enjoying the satisfaction of cleaning is so positive.

  • I can relate, several years ago we had to move my mom from her dream home to an assisted living home. It was one of the most painful things I have ever done. My brothers and my hearts were broken. We had an excellent childhood and are very blessed but she became too sick to take care of it. She did not want to leave and it took us almost a year to show her the dangers of staying there. It took us months to get it ready to sell. Now I don't go visit the house to see how it looks. I've moved on and kept my good childhood memories of the place. Thank you for doing this for people. It is a blessing to them and necessary. Not all people are able to do what you do. I could not!

  • The guilt and the shame I imagine from others (but mostly from myself) has taken a bad toll on my mental health despite recently having the courage to get therapy. Aurikatariina, you are so compassionate and nonjudgmental and in turn watching your videos is helping me normalize a symptom of my depression that I feel no one in the world could possibly understand. I still wouldn’t let anyone see how gross it has become, but in a way you have provided a sliver of peace and acceptance that I am not my mess. Now I just have to be brave enough to start cleaning and taking care of my home. Because being depressed and then having disgusting house makes me more depressed. And there is a belief in my mind that I just can’t do it. But I think that stems from the shame and the guilt. Thank you for what you do and also sharing it with others, like me. Watching your videos in and of themselves helps me therapeutically without having to open my door to anyone for help. I know asking for help to do the physical cleaning is so good, I can’t imagine doing that.

    @Wedapeoplesays@Wedapeoplesays11 ай бұрын
    • You obviously have no idea of how brave you already are! You wrote a long post with quite a bit of detail. You wrote you have Depression. You wrote that your home is messy. You wrote that you get stuck by the shame, guilt and judgements others try to throw on you ... sadly inferring their lack of interest or compassion for you. And, you wrote that you are now in therapy. You are braver than you seem willing to acknowledge, so far. I'm sure you don't think you only need 1 or 6 therapy appointments, right? Then you, logically, can't think you will regain your home in 1 or 6 days. If change is impulsive and quick, it won't change anything. I hope you think about this ... those who try to dump shame, guilt and harsh judgements on others are reflecting themselves, not you. Think of it like their addiction. They use you (and others) to distract themselves from their own issues, like an alcoholic uses alcohol to hide or ignore. They think they'll feel better about themselves if they are harsh with someone else ... they won't, of course because they continue feeding their own ugly, sad addiction. You are NOT required to support their addiction. Those judgements are not yours to swallow and live with. And, you know, when and as you are vulnerable they damage you ... they stop you from taking first steps and cause more feelings of worthlessness in you, which makes Depression and Anxieties worse. They are dangerous people to you. It's hard work but practice, (with your therapist of course) ignoring their ugly words. And, as much as you can, stay away from those people. As for actual cleaning, do spaces as Aurikatatriina does, one step and space, at a time. She never cleans a bedroom and bathroom, at the same time by walking back and forth. Set yourself up for success. (Don't make a list because you will overwhelm yourself.) Over many hours and days ... Aurikatatriina usually starts with gathering up dirty clothes in bags and sets them aside. You just succeeded in completing a big task. Then she gathers items to be recycled and sets them in a different place. Another success for you! When all the recyclable items are gathered, she takes them to the recycling center, as you will. Yet another success! Now, as Aurikatatriina does, go to the room you want to start with. It doesn't matter which one it is, or how long it takes you to clean it, starting and finishing is your only goal. You WILL be healthier because your bravery has led you to seek real life, healthy changes. {Hugs}

  • I love watching your videos before I clean, and also even while I clean, I will keep them playing and watch them while I do things like dishes or organising things. It keeps me so motivated and feels like I'm cleaning with someone. And while my house gets very messy, because I have depression and my partner works and much of my day is taken up just caring for and playing with my toddler, it's not at the level as most of these houses. And I know it's easier to clean someone else's house than your own, but it still makes me feel like "if Auri can clean aaallll of this within a day or two, I can surely get just my kitchen and lounge room done in a whole day!" It also helps to try and view it as I'm a cleaner hired to clean my house. I used to work as a cleaner so I know what needs to be done and I know how to keep the place clean but life just gets too much a lot of the time, and with a death in the family recently and lots of other personal problems, it's been harder to deal with the house and keep up with it all I also love how you talk about the mess. It's hard for me but I try to view my house mess through your eyes, instead of "ugh the counter is so cluttered, I need to mop, the sink is full of dishes, and that's not even touching on the marks on the wall or the backdoor and the laundry....." I try to view it more as "I get to clean! The before & after will be so satisfying." I do enjoy cleaning but again, it's harder in my own home 😅

    • It wouldn't be at all advisable; there are often maggots and other horrid creepy-crawlies in those apartments, and they'd get into the vac, and then be in Auri's car, and in other apartments/homes she'd be cleaning. Vacs are notoriously hard to clean, no matter how small, and can harbor all sorts of seriously nasty things.

  • Hey Aurikatalina, just want to say I’m obsessed with watching your cleaning videos. So inspiring. The kind work you do for people that suffer so much from depression/anxiety is so uplifting. I love your stove top hak with oven cleaner and cling film, tried it on my stove top and it now looks new. I love how cleaning the trashes away and wiping away the dirt in a way helps cleanse the mind and soul😊. I always worry the end of your braids might accidentally get dirt or sludge on them. Keep up the great work Aussie fan Anna . 😊❤

I wish all of you the courage, confidence and strength to overcome as many depressive times as you can, small steps and believe me you’ll get out that darkness further and further. At your pace. You all got this 💙

  • Seems like this mom needs to be in a long term care facility if the family can afford it after selling the house/apartment. They can monitor her with her medications that will likely be given to her for depression. And, regular meetings for her addiction. Your help must be like a breath of air for her children and much appreciated.
