  • What I like about this guy is that he is really good at just getting to the point. He doesn’t over explain, there’s no unnecessary suspense, he doesn’t try to milk one topic or joke; he just says what he needs to say and moves on. It’s informative without being exhausting. That’s quite a talent in my opinion.

  • actually plastic roads have a solution to 3 problems, in arizona where I live roads are a real problem in the summer time bc the black asphalt reflects to heat back to the cars and the cars reflect it around the city and then in downtown areas the heat is excruciating sometimes because of all the tall business buildings. The city has been working on changing all asphalt roads to pavement but that becomes especially dangerous during monsoon season because wet pavement is very slippery to tires. I feel like if plastic roads have a good grip on wet tires then maybe it'd be the perfect solution for mine and all other cities with hot climates

  • The issue with plastic roads is micro-plastic - or almost invisible plastic particles then then end up everywhere and are the reason you can find microplastic in everything (including food and our bodies). Already paint used to mark road lanes is a source of it - making the whole road plastic would drastically increase the micro plastics problem apparently. So yeah, many of these things aren't really a solution but a step towards one. By exploring options, and any problems or solutions that may come out of these options we might find a real solution.

    • to be fair though, asphalt can take up to 300 years to "decompose" and that will also produce small particles. at least with this its being used from another source, but as you say its stepping the right direction, they also found bacteria that can create power using humidity and is currently being invested into, as this means u can build vertically not horizontally saving more space from being torn down and it has a 24/7 up time as apposed to solar which is during day and wind turbines dependant on winds

It's so bad it got immortalised in a Beatles song and my mum broke her cars suspension going over one of the potholes... But like heck would the local council pay for it when they rarely pay to fill a pothole in... Also curious how it'd work with all the ice we get... But I can hope the government loses its mind and goes for it one day lol.

    • another one that hasn't been mentioned in this video was relatively recently they found a type of bacteria that produces electrical currents via humidity, the reason this is great is because weather will not be a reliant factor, it will run 24/7 and because its only humidity it requires you can build vertically instead of horizontally meaning they can be constructed in cities and will use less land to power things, the downside of it so far is that it produces insanely low power, however solar was inn the same spot when it was first discovered, you also have shopping bags being made from fish scales recently made from a university student meaning all the scales and fish waste can actually be useful. another company has made "pod" like biomes for fish farms to take them out at sea which reduces the acid in the waters for nearby local reefs which will allow the reefs to grow back slowly along with providing a whole new feeding location further out at sea for other smaller species of shrimps, plankton and small fish. that pavement you saw that generates power is currently in the process for road work also so the cars on roads will also power the problem they are currently facing is durability for sudden breaks AKA if a car crash or sudden break stop happens, it rips the panels up, once they find a way to solve this issue then the cars will also generate this power. there is aloooot more also out there but these are a few that interested me, theres alot going positive its just media prefer to cover the negative so you have to really look for it
