  • Fun fact: The first Foundation base isolation system was used by "Mimar Sinan", a Turkish architect, around 400 years earlier than Frank Lyond Wright. This system can be seen in the mosques that he has built, which allowed these mosques to still be standing in a high earthquake-risk area like Istanbul. But most of the buildings in Turkey don't use this system (cuz its expensive).

  • 3:50 Saw stops in general are really, really an important investment that have been around for some time, actually. I always considered them a hazard to my table saw, an overly expensive gadget and was pretty annoyed my dad was so demanding that I have one - until I had a piece of wood that had gotten a little damp caught really awkwardly, got my hand pushed forward and I really, really don't want to know how much worse then a light scratch and a massive scare I'd have ended up with

  • The fireball extinguisher is best used in an encloses space, like a medium sized bathroom, walk in closet, maintenance shed, etc. It's least effective in the open during wind, as the wind will blow the extinguishing powder away from the fire. There used to be extinguishing orbs made of glass, with simple water, certain salt solutions or extinguishing powders inside. They'd be hung, by a string or in a purpose-made basket, above a likely fire hazard, like an electric panel, chemical bottles etc. as a form of passive fire safety.

  • Former EOD-officer here. The drones sound cool, but I have my doubts that they work the way they advitise them. 1. they ONLY used a metal detector, which is neat for many mines, but a lot of countries which used mines realised that and changed how they are constructed makeing metal mine detection VERY VERY hard, not impossible but hard. 2. identifying "high risk" areas can't be done by air alone, which means that while haveing an areal view of your landscape is usefull it only adds something doesn't eliminate all the detective work prior. You neet hydronimic maps, erosion maps, old mine maps and firstly identify areas which potentially hold mines at all. All that can't be done with a drone, and needs work prior to useage of it. AI can realy help with that however. 3. detonateing each mine just by itself is a slow process, which works for civilian UXO clearing and clearing of non saturated areas, but is not realy usefull in clearing fields. 4. detonateing mines by air does pose a risk in itself - because you could detonate your charge without actually setting off the mine itself, which only means you now have thrown a mine which has it's detonator maybe even damaged somewhere you did not anticipated. 5. Haveing seen the video of the guys promoteing the drones, they admitt that they use AI to identify mines, which poses the issue of mines which are obscured by debris and dug in. Which causes a huge HUGE issue for the work I did, planning demineing operations, as this type of identification can give a false sense of security if dug in mines and obscured mines are not detected by the AI - leaveing me to use old trusted methods of dogs, clearing vehicles, clearing explsoives and manual detection again, not haveing helped in the process. I say however what they seemingly are very good at is identifying duds, old caches and open laying explosives, markeing them and eliminateing them. Unforuntatly for most of the areas where mines are a huge issue to the population (appart from warzones), they are left overs from old conflicts, often beeing washed, eroded away and often underneath a layer of earth. So my innital (realy innital) thought on the system is neat, has it's application, but is not the revolutionary method it's made sound to be and like all methods is "only" one cog in the machinery. And like all new technology it needs it's kinks ironed out and find it's role within the field, which I'm optimistic that it will aid, yet not revolunionise. Now take all I sadi with a grain of salt, as the demineing operations I did were either on a military scale, where createing a path was more improtant than totaly clearing an area and/or single IED/UXOs, haveing little (only theoretical knowlage rather than frist hand experience) with civilian mineclearing operations after a conflict.

But if you're not wearing #19 and yet find yourself trapped in a car, whether sinking or otherwise, you can pull out any of the headrest and use the two metal rods from the headrest to smash any of the windows/windscreen to climb out of the car. It's actually designed with that in mind. That's why the ends of the two rods are pointed.

  • That kevlar cable would help to strangle a fake taxi driver who is trying to kidnap you and that bracelet would help you to escape. Really useful stuff in places where I live.

    • i went to Ibiza in 1995 & it was late at night i got into a Taxi & instead of taking me to my hotel he drove into the hills & he got out knocked on the door to a large mansion then 2 guy came out & started walking towards the Taxi & i escaped into the woods it took me hours to get back to the hotel, so yer these gadgets would come in handy

  • This video is awesome, as always, but I do feel like recently, your videos are getting more and more fast-paced. I'm just a bit tired of seeing so many graphics that are going on at the same time. Can you slow it down? I really miss the calming feeling your earlier videos from 2020 - early 2021 had.

    @turminue@turminue Жыл бұрын
    • Sadly most of the content has changed to basic fast paced and increadably forgettable tik tok "CRAZY INVENTIONS U NEED TO SEE" and lists of 97% complete garbage products where half of them isn't even almost doing what they claim instead of serious tech reviews. I don't blame him, the channel has exploded but there's hardly anything I personally find interesting lately. It's just insanely well produced video (it really is amazing production behind everything) of constant INSANE product bullet points and no substance, no opinion from Arun, no real reviews what so ever, no reflection or ever any negativity towards any product for any reason. Can't stand Unboxed therapy for the same reason of mindless "everything is amazing" and sadly this channel is going the same way, but catered to lists and young viewers clicking and sharing crazy cool future tech.
