Sebastian Aho scored two goals including the eventual game-winner and Alex Nedeljkovic made 32 saves for the shutout as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Nashville Predators 3-0 to take a 2-0 series lead.

  • This may be well known among fans of western teams, who see him play often, but I feel like general hockey fans might not realize Aho is sort of quietly becoming one of the most dominant players in the league. He seems to be everywhere on the ice using extreme speed to burn players and create space and pulling mind-blowing moves to score goals and complete video-game like passes. I am out east so I’m left with only the highlights but it seems his name is constantly being brought up in every clip.

    • Western teams ? Carolina is in the eastern conference not the West . to be exact they are normally in the metro division which is EAST . you are right about Aho , but everything else about directions is completely wrong .

  • Carolina is an underdog to win the cup this year, these dudes are incredible. Props the Nashville for making that an insanely competitive game, Carolina’s goalie kept them in that game big time.

    • @@weallknowchris205 and thanking the fans. broadcast doesn't really pick that part up but the jumbotron says "Thank You, Fans" or something to that effect and the PA guy says, "The Hurricanes would like to thank you...the fans."

  • Preds fan here...they showed heart tonight. Heart was a commendable trait for a gritty expansion era Preds; however, heart alone for an organization that has matured into its 2nd generation of fandom is simply not enough. Thank you, GMDP, for helping to establish this franchise, but to have drafted not even a handful worth of players to have scored 30 or more goals in a season with the Preds over 22-23 years is inexcusable. This team needs new direction because I can't take this perennially dysfunctional powerplay and woefully inadequate offense any longer. I'll attend Games 3 and 4 with the usual glee of a STH in his 20th season/x number of playoff games since Game 3 vs DET (04). I doubt it will occur, but if that home ice advantage (a once dominant trait) fails to yield a win, a fanbase that's deserving of far more will have even more confirmation of the need for change after seeing its Preds swept for the first time ever.

    • i feel ur pain man, I still believe there is hope for this roster just not under the direction of Hynes. Guy is an absolute clown his constant mashup of line combinations is showing through as it is obvious guys just have had no time to build chemistry with each other they're a damn mess on the ice. Players like Duchenne and Johansen are paid high-value contracts to make plays yet arent given the chance to do so because they have no idea where their linemates are gonna be on the ice because they played with different guys every night during the regular season.

    • If I’m going to be honest, this team may be better than the 2005-2006 team. And that team was phenomenal. Of course, it is hard to tell with the current divisional formats, and not being able to play outside the division, but this team has shown a lot of consistency and will power. They have never looked distraught or discouraged during the regular season and always felt like they could come back and win (with the exception of the last game in which half the lineup were call-ups from the minors or reserves). Just look at their schedule. Only 2 games were the Canes not down by one or leading in the last couple minutes. These were the Tampa 0-3 loss, and the season finale 0-5 loss against Nashville. In fact, all of their two goal losses were due to empty netters. It’s the culture and mindset that this team has that gives me the belief that they *COULD* win it all. A belief that I genuinely have not had since the 2008-2009 season.

А вот с малого - сплотилась команда то, стала уверенней и поверила в себя, стала выходить в пдейоф, выигрывать, не глобально пока.     • Numbers speak for themselves. Reims got wins but gave up too many. Ned gets wins a AND allows less goals. He’s starter now in my book. Mrazek is somewhere in the middle... if he gets hot he’s very hard to get a puck by. IMO Reims is goalie #3 on this roster now and the gap is kinda wide.

  • Great win for the Canes beating Nashville and the refs. Yes some of those calls were good calls. Some were like ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! calls. Then there was the many non calls against Nashville. It felt like the Canes were playing Boston all over again.

    • Haula was being an egotistical ass complaining about ice time and demanding a trade because Rod rested him after several bad games. His wife spewed some bullshit about us not appreciating his talent and effort after Rod rested him for one game. Idk why he expected to just jump in and be first or second line without proving himself.

    • @@aidan_asparro6208 yes true. I guess that’s a good point, Nashville we’re the best of a bad bunch so to speak. Dallas and Chicago would have been punished by Carolina. This division was really separated with exceptional teams in Tampa and Florida vs the remainder which were pretty rubbish.
