  • Hello! I know you said that you’re not “judge-y” of your knitting, but if I may suggest something and you can decide if you’d like to try it or not. When you have a purl stitch after a knit stitch, try wrapping your purl stitch in the opposite direction. When we go over the top of the needle to purl, there is more yarn used which gives the knit stitch just before the purl stitch a wonky left leg. When we wrap the purl stitch first under the needle and over the top, it shortens the amount of yarn coming from the knit stitch before the purl. This really tightens up those cables too. When you finish a cable and the next stitch is purl, try this technique. I am sure you will notice how much nicer your last knit stitch to your cable looks. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on yarns texture. I would like to try some of the yarn you speak of, but I can’t do really scratchy so I appreciate you sharing your thoughts.

  • It’s so sweet that you are putting so much love and concern into your grandmother’s sweater. I agree that the uneven rib is just a sign of something being handmade. Mine gets a little uneven sometimes as well. As my mother-in-law tells me often, if you can’t spot it from a galloping horse, no one will care.

  • A tip for the uneven rib ,(like on that gorgeous grandmas jumper..) Yarn under on the purling instead of over- a bigger size needle is required as it tightens the stitches.. Theres a name for it, but I forgot. It makes the ribbing nice and uniform.

  • I’m loving watching you’re progress with the Olympic sweater - such a cool project and the yarn choice is interesting. Cascade 220 is easily available in Ontario, and I’ve used it a bit, but never for colour work. For you rust blanket/shawl - perhaps after the first ball is knit up it would look neat to stripe the remaining rust colour with white? I have a shawl with similar ratio of colours - one third solid, two thirds striped, and I really like it.

My daughter gave me a kit to make those slippers (only way to get the English pattern- lol). Had to wait to pick up double point needles- hope to finish slipper one soon. Your brother looks great in his intarsia sweater- wait till you try an intarsia pattern wth about 20 little dangling spools of yarn- not my favourite. This pattern, I could handle. How do you get so much knitting done? I have all the time in the world and knit a lot but never accomplish what you knit in a few weeks! You must have knitting gremlins who finish things up in the night! Lol!

  • I’ve knitted the Rowena this winter and I would recommend to knit the body a few centimeters longer than the desired length. It is indeed quite a crop sweater and as it has negative ease, the bottom tend to go back up while the body part expand to fit the chest. Hope it will help :)

    • I think so :) I knitted 26 cm for the body and it shortens to 22 cm when I wear it. So you should have around 4 centimeters extra. As a reference my sweater arrived just at the end of the rib cage and I am 168 cm tall.

For that beautiful red/orange yarn from malabrigo, I think the color is so beautiful as it is, I'd probably just keep going with it alone. You asked! I bought the Rauma pattern book for the cardigan you knitted a while back and that’s going to be my next entry in the knitdreamkal once I order the yarn for it. I am scared about knitting it bottom up and the steeking process. I might have my mom (who is phenomenal on a sewing machine) help me with the steeking.

  • Hello Inga! I am 1/3 of the way through your video and as always, I am really enjoying the content. I wanted to share a knitting tip with you for the 'uneven' ribbing. I recently borrowed the book, "Patty Lyons' KNITTING BAG OF TRICKS", from the library. There are 70 tips and tricks for better knitting. I ended up purchasing the book since it had so much to offer. It is a MUST-HAVE book for knitters at all levels. In this book, you will find a way(s) to fix the uneven ribbing while you knit. I hope this helps! The sweater for your brother came out so well and he seemed very happy with it. BTW, I hope we get to see your grandmother wearing your gifted sweater. It's always nice to meet the families of knitters! Thank you for your informative and prolific video series. Your knitting is stunning and always a joy to see, admire, and have as inspiration. 🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶

  • I hope to get to Norway someday soon! We usually get al9t of snow but this year was a light year. I would love to tour the yarn stores and factory yarn stores! How would I find all of them that you have mentioned?

    • google yarn brands and then plug it into google maps, the distances are long so youd need a car to drive on a proper roadtrip 4+ hours between each of sandnes, hillesvåg and rauma all on the west coast

  • All the sweaters are beautiful, but the Olympic sweater is a masterpiece. One question about all the elves that obviously knit for you…do I send a frustrating knit to them or will they travel to Florida?😂😂😂

  • Your olympic sweater it turning out very pretty and interesting - like everything you make IMO. I want to bring to your attention a great book called "Koftearven" by Annemor Sundbø from 2019. I borrowed it from the library and it's a very interesting historic doocument of all the great Norwegian sweater patterns. I read it in Norwegian, cus I'm Danish, so I don't know it it's translated for the international audience😀 But if you don't know it, I can really recommend it. Happy knitting from Denmark ❤

  • I think the Manos del Uruguay project is too wide for a baby blanket but would make a lovely shawl all by itself if you just knit the second ball of the red.

  • I need long tipped needles too. I'm short, but my fingers are so long people constantly tell me they are weird. They are. Long needles and I loop everything.

  • I watch your channel for inspiration and you definitely deliver… I want to adventure into color work and steeking which I plan after I finish a few knitting requests. I went to episode2 21 to find the link to the felted slippers and the link led to no where, so I was wondering if you had any suggestions. I love the concept of two slippers inverted into itself. Thanks for keeping me company in Vermont 😊

    • might be the link expired. www.sandnesgarn.no/tofler-12 I do an oral english translation at the end of ep 21 if the norwegian pattern is to hard

    • @@knittingtraditions thank you for the link. It did bring me to the English version site. The slippers were not there but I did find the pattern in the Norwegian site in the Norwegian language. Google translate was somewhat helpful but also confusing in parts. I think with the translate app and a youtube channel I might be able to figure it out. Wish me luck 🍀

  • Saved yesterdays upload for today, because it´s my birthday - and what´s a better way to start your birthday than knitting and watching your favourite knitting podcast?! :) Your olympic sweater and the one for your brother look amazing! And I approximate it will take only 1-2 more times of you talking about sock tubes until I´ll have my own first attempt. :D (Slightly scared of the afterthought heel).

    • Happy birthday! Dont be scared, if you know how to put fallen sts back on the needles you have the skill needed even if you get it wrong and drop a few

  • You inspire me to try knitting socks with my left over silk mohair. I knit the Ranunculus with fingering and mohair and I'm not fond of how much it sheds so haven't knit anything else with mohair. Does it shed less when you knit with smaller needles, like when knitting socks?

  • Another great podcast - thank you. Can I ask, when you knit your socks with fingering weight yarn & a strand of silk mohair on 3mm needles how many stitches do you cast on please? I tried a Dk pair of socks on 3mm needles with 48 stitches but they were huge x

    • it depends but usually 48- 56 sts depending on the person im knitting for, i often cast on more then decrease after the cuff
