  • Those thinner cotton yarns (fingering to light fingering) work also beautifully with unspun; they bring structure without bringing the fuzzyness of the mohair 🙏🏻☺️

  • This is not boring at all. I already love to look through patterns for relaxation and fun, and this was extra relaxing and fun to have someone actually show them to me. To hear your opinions about the patterns was really interesting because I don’t really have anyone to discuss patterns with in such detail. I am surprised that this is actually one of my favourite things I have seen in a knitting podcast!

  • Thanks Inga, another video full of inspiration. I also have lots of yarn that I bought with something in mind, but now can't remember what that something was. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I knit an Anker's Summer Shirt out of Line and I have no issues with stiffness after washing. I've washed mine several times and it's nice and soft. Though I admit, I have tossed it into the dryer for a few minutes several times. That may help soften things. I know that when I air-dry bath towels they feel almost crunchy, but when I dry them in the dryer they are very soft. Love your videos! Thanks!

  • It was so good time with you. For our summer (Lithuania) it is reasonable to make only two types of T-shirts. Majority could be cotton/merino and linen/silk mohair. And few could be pure linen or silk/linen for the few days we have about +30. But, actually, I love silk very much. I'm in process of making pure silk top again. Cotton is not my favorite, but feels better with silk. Only silk requires more care when washed.

  • 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 the sheep/ram/goat creatures just chilling in the middle of the road 🤣🤣🤣🤣 wow what an iconic image right there i haven't made any of her designs yet myself, but i want to make something from fabel knitwear. her romantic, whimsical designs are right up my alley, aesthetics wise. ive also been looking at the camisole patterns from my favourite things knitwear for a while now new zealand is in the middle of winter right now, so i don't quite have the summer knit motivation. however, i did dye some organic cotton yarn with coffee grounds, so i want to make a blouse with that one day!

Thank you for another amazing video and lots of inspiration!

  • My go to for any yarn, even one skein, is Irina Revo “easiest triangle shawl”, because it’s for any yarn, any amount, always turns out symmetrical. It can be a scarf or huge shawl. I love it because it is garter and though it’s knit straight, the pattern becomes diagonal! So amazing in one color or stripes, even self striping yarn!

  • What a fun video! I enjoyed it very much! Here are some summer yarns that I like: Studio Linen from Erika Knight, but I'm not sure that you would like it because of the rayon... I also like Sabri by Illimani Yarn which is a light fingering 85% Cotton, 15% Alpaca; very pleasant to knit. I just finished knitting my second Rosenrot by Lene Tøsti. It's a great knit, but it is necessary to modify the armholes as they are very small. I just finished my second Rosenrot while watching your video. This time, I used the Sparrow fingering yarn from Quince & Co. which is 100% linen. I love it! It's so drapey, and much softer than I expected. I am obsessed with granny square these days so this week, I started the Inside Out Circles Top by Lion Brand, it's a free pattern, and I am using 8/4 100% cotton in 6 different colours. One of my favourite summer t-shirt patterns is the Velen by Camille Descoteaux. It's simple with an interesting texture and construction, and the pattern is beautifully written. I would also love to try the Rock It Tee by Tanis Lavallée. As you said, there are not enough hours in a day! 😄 Take care!

  • I live in the wicked hot climate of coastal NC. I recently realized my wooly knits were getting very little wear. Our warm season is 6-7 months with foolish shoulder season of a month on either side. Our cold season is December-March but there are many days during this time that are really only cool. So I am focusing my knitting on plant based yarns.

  • Thank you for so many ideas for patterns and yarn🤩. My local yarn store doesn't have a large selection of thin plantfiber yarns- below sports the best options would be Tynn Line. Knit on 3mm it's reasonably soft (and I don't handwash it), but I don't have much to compare it against. It's regrettable that the colors are rather pale- no deep reds, greens and blues. I've recently knit a top with Fyberspates gleem lace- the yarn looks absolutely stunning and it seems to be weightless

  • i have knit lots of cotton dishcloths, and a scarf and tank out of linen. my experience was that they softened up in the wash, but i dry them in a machine. if you are hanging to dry, you might try shaking them out firmly or gently beating them against a clean wall to soften them after they air dry.

  • Inga, thinking of your formerly-nice Cumulus Tee in Tynn Line, many plant fiber fabrics that stiffen up from washing will soften again when ironed. Of course you wouldn't iron your knitting like a cloth garment but I wonder if it would help if you gently passed the iron over the knitted fabric with no pressure, got it heated up and maybe patted it a bit. Especially since it has viscose in it. That may help. Hmmm...

    • @@knittingtraditions it occurred to me afterward, it might be easier to put it into a hot clothes dryer for a couple of minutes but only if the tee is completely dry when it goes in.

  • One more vote for the Collett Tee by Witre Design. The instructions are a bit more for experienced knitters, as they don't hold your hand as much as e.g., you find in a Petite Knit pattern, but it was definitely doable. I even decided to calculate it for another yarn weight which worked perfectly, and yes: the fit is AMAZING (a lot better than how it looks on the sample photo imo)! :)

  • This is perfect timing. Following your last video, I ordered yarn from Hillesvag and it finally arrived today. Perfect accompaniment as I unbox my order.

  • Inga, this was so much fun thank you for sharing! You gave me lots of ideas to dream about yarn and pattern combos. You could weave some dish/hand towels with your cotton yarns as well. Maybe with yarns that don’t make the cut this go-around for any of your summer garments, that would be a good way to make use of them. 🤍

  • I would really like to knit the Holiday by Susie Haumann but it is only in Danish. The MyTeeser by Jill Karina Bø also looks lovely so I might try that next.

  • I'm currently working through the Faye Summer Top you mentioned using Sandnes Garn Line, and it's turning out beautifully. It is a lot of mental effort though, so be warned.

  • I might suggest a beautiful tonal striped t-shirt with the 2 off white Line from the store & outlet...that way you'd have plenty :-)

  • That’s so interesting how you have a touch sensitivity to the purl soho yarn. I have that same yarn and I ❤️ love it. It’s interesting how people are impacted differently by yarns. I get that same reaction from wooly wool! 😣
