I'm working on a Marin shawl, by Ysolde (and loving it!). Thank you for sharing information on the Norwegian Wild Sheep! I love learning more about sheep. I probably won't get the chance to try it myself anytime soon, as postage makes some things beyond my budget. However, I look forward to seeing that beautiful yarn turn into a cardigan (or whatever you end up making with it). Thank you, Inga!

I am making it in the colors of the University of Delaware and it is such a fun knit and available as a paid pattern on Ravelry. Also a knitted blanket from my advent minis. I am making stripes to be joined later so it is very portable and easy at the beach. Summer knitting, but cannot wait to get back to wool!😊

  • Happy to see your podcast pop up in my feed. Again always enjoyable. I am actually knitting my dream knit now, Jane Cardigan by Andrea Yetman. For Biacotte yarns. A wide garter yoke then stockinette. Super easy but heavy worsted/Aran. I’m using very rustic Selkirk ram wool and love it. I frogged my first attempt because the yarn was alpaca merino blend. All wrong for this one. Very pleased and 75% complete. My friend held 2 colors double and it is lovely. Free pattern too 😉. I also dislike button holes.

  • For the norwegian sheep's yarn, if it's scratchy make a jacket with it. There's a gorgeous one called Jacket No. 1 by My Favorite Things Knitwear. It looks like a cardigan, but they're calling it a jacket. Maybe make the neckline edges & the wrist ribbings out of matching merino. I love the idea of using something so ancient like that sheeps yarn. The granny squares blanket is going to be gorgeous.

  • Garter cardigan pattern idea: "Garti Cardi" by Anna Daku (Side note: the Ravelry page says it's for worsted weight yarn but it's suggested to use two strands of fingering throughout, for a marled and faded effect but many consider two strands of fingering equal to a DK weight). Good luck in your search!

I've made one in drops alpaca and I think it's one of my most worn knitted projects. It sits so well on my should and do not slide down. :) The other one I made in Holst supersoft.

  • Hi Inga! Regarding the button holes. I had the same dilema when knitting the Sunday cardigan by Petite Knit. The patter asked to make button holes after knitting and there is a tutorial on petite knit’s page. I just skipped it as I was happy with no buttons. I’m in San Diego so the sweater is already warm enough as is for my weather. For your baby sweater, have you considered snap buttons? They are very easy to install and a dream come true on baby knits. They are much easier to work when you have a fidgety baby and running on little to no sleep. Hope this helps!

  • Thank you for sharing your projects. I love the tee you are wearing and the kufta looks great. Regarding the jacket you are planning to knit: you might like the style of a "Jankerl". It's a traditional jacket from the Alps. It's always knitted in garter stitch and sometimes a contrasting colour like dark green is used for the ribbing.

  • Gorgeous rustic yarn! I just swatched for the Claude Cardigan by Johanna Gehrish. I was inspired by Mel makes stuf for this project ;). I love the contrasting buttonband and rib details. It's a bulky weight but I think it would be perfect for this yarn held double. Plus you would be able to finish some small amounts of fingering weight and mohair yarn from stash ;)

  • Just a few suggestions for garter stitch cardis - Dacite by Carol feller, Marmor (might be too bulky), Girlfriend Cardi and Olive Street cardigan - all in my queue, haven’t knit any of them yet…maybe a knitalong in very rustic wool…! Love your seaborn tee x

  • I’ve just cast on the Potomac Worsted by Knitty McPurly. I’m really enjoying it.

  • Do check out Melody Hoffman’s Linden Cardigan. It’s garter with a very simple split stitch pattern that mimics the linden tree. 🤍

  • Hej Inga, I am currently knitting the Kukka Cardigan by Rosa P. There is a free garter stitch pattern (Ambling Alp) by Jule from Heymamawolf on Ravelry. But it’s knitted in pieces, not sure if you like that.

  • If you have no button band, have you seen i cord edging that has voids between edge and the i cord that forms the button holes? Re: steeking, just use a felting tool, so easy ! I love steekimg and this isy favourite method. Great show again x
