    • @@AnyGameAtAll (Under 18 is a kid). My father came from a hard scrabble migrant farmers life and I had to start working at 12. On the air base, I would regularly walk door-to-door to recruit airmen customers, from the barracks to officer homes, for a paper route, delivering "Stars and Stripes". I would have to be waiting at the BX 6 am in the morning when the papers came in. At 15, I began to work at a WInchells donut shop, at 16 \ 17, I worked at DD, until I graduated HS and at 18, began to work at Texas Instruments.

People also assume that x company is lying, but it's the ad agency that put those really nice looking tomatoes in there (or whatever), instead of the paper thin things fast food workers dread putting through the cutter. I have worked fast food, and all the employees dreaded new ads. Why are the tomatoes so thin? Because that is how the machine we have slices them. But they look nothing like the ads??? The ads didn't use company issued slicers. Etc etc. Yea, the big name could have stopped the ads, but not the local franchises. Look into those and find worlds of reasons to never eat out again...

    • @@lancerevell5979 (non) Honourable mention: medicine and related businesses, I refer specially to hospitals and e.g. the now common revolving door policy regarding in-patients' time there and the disproportionate costs (at least in D and CH in my experience). The trend began around the mid 1990s, when the first companies took over the formerly county or district managed and owned hospitals (a way that some military hospitals also had to go...). Formerly always a medical doctor or professor was the head of the institutions, then the business model changed, and leadership was split into a medical director (still a med professional), and a economical director (I hope this is understandable, non native E speaker here, sorry), who now was a business administrator without any medical knowledge. Granted, not everything went smoothly and cost-oriented in the olden days, and like everywhere the temptation to grab the money that could be made by using loopholes was too much for some officials, which was the incentive to bring in people with money savviness in the first place. Medical professionals are not educated in economics, s it seemed to be a good idea, also to cut costs for insurance to make it more accessible to people with a lower income. Oh the irony! The methods and departments where fraud is possible and still a daily problem have only shifted, and the costs are skyrocketing in spite of "cost effectiveness" and " lean management" and whichever buzzwords help the perpetrators to win this BS bingo. Even fraudsters have to feed their family, or gas up the Ferrari... Yes, I AM a jaded cynic. I liked the business better when at least on the surface the patient's well being and adequate treatment, often no matter what the costs, was the guideline. That's all, "go away now" *snatches drink after the citation of Critical Drinker's signature phrase*

  • I don't know how many times I have to explain this to people- It's pumpkin SPICE. It's the *spices* that you put *into* pumpkin puree to make a pumpkin pie with. That is, it's a mixture of cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and/or ginger. It *can* be made with actual pumpkin, or pumpkin flavouring added to it; but that's *not* what the name is actually implying or guaranteeing. If you're looking for something that guarantees that actual pumpkin or pumpkin flavouring is added to it; look for pumpkin *pie* flavoured items, not pumpkin spice.

    @darkfoxfurre@darkfoxfurre28 күн бұрын
    • Don't think you can make spice out of pumpkin though, but SPICES are actually parts of plants so if they are claiming it is PUMPKIN SPICE to me they are stating it is at least part of the pumpkin plant/fruit. If they are merely adding cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, ginger then they need to make it clear they are using DIFFERENT SPICES which can be added TO pumpkin pie - or apple pies or Xmas mincemeat, or any fruit dish for that matter as they are commonly used in many dishes NOT containing pumpkin. Basically it's is false advertising.

Honestly, when I heard about a "Pumpkin Spice Latte", I figured it was a drink with the flavors of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, clove, allspice, and pepper. • Maybe 15-17 years ago, I bought some MBT (rocker bottom) sneakers and sandals. Took a while to get used to, but once I knew how to keep my balance, they were the most comfortable shoes I've ever had. Wore them traveling all over Europe and the US. It was this year that the sandals finally disintegrated, and I'm so sad because I can't find that exact style again. Maybe they didn't make me lose weight, but they do require your calves to get a little workout, and I could feel some stretch in the back of my legs and hips/backside. The Sketchers might have overstated its benefits, but similar rocker-bottom shoes really can be super comfortable for long walks.

The manager even went as far as to order a small scooper so I could make small balls of butter and place them in a row and then sprinkle the cinnamon evenly on top instead of just on the center. The baked result was a peach cobbler you would have had at home. People came just for the peach cobbler alone! 😅

Elizabeth ruined her head’s scientists life leading to his suicide and her machines were used on real patients causing a pregnant woman to believe she was miscarrying. Since my car is 51 years old and the majority of people who see it have no idea what it is, no one conflates it with me liking their modern cars or company. When you see a Model T Ford, do you have the thought that the owner must be supportive of the modern Ford company? • There's a simple way to make sure you pass the emissions test when your car inspected or re-inspected. The last time you get gas before you go to the inspection station, fill it with premium gas. This burns cleaner than unleaded and helps you pass the test. I do it every time; I always pass.

    • The purpose of the test is to regulate contamination not to cover it up, right?

    • I always pass our emissions and so,do,our old cars - we have a 1999 Acura TL that passes and a 2006 Acura that also passes! I’ve seen some newer cars that spew out crap! Some people don’t know how to take care of a car!

  • I switched to Android because it's better. Android provides a more customizable experience than iPhone. It allows for extensive personalization of your phone's appearance, with launchers to modify the home screen and themes to change the visual aesthetics. Android also grants more in-depth access to the file system, enabling freer file management and straightforward drag-and-drop transfers between your phone and computer. Moreover, features such as split-screen multitasking and app sideloading (installing applications from sources other than the official app store) are possible on Android, unlike on iPhone.

  • Wait, I work at Buffalo Wild Wings, and all of our boneless wings really are boneless. I should know, I've eaten them.

    @keeganstallard2740@keeganstallard2740Ай бұрын
    • They are boneless but they are not meat from wings! A chicken wing doesn’t have must meat on them - take a look at a real chicken wing in a meat market or a grocery store!
