  • Kurt Russell was 47 years old when he filmed this. He physically trained 18 months for this movie. Arguably, his best played role. I remember getting chills during the scene where he stands between Jason Lee's character and the refugees he's protecting, and shakes his head, "No."

    • I like this film an Kurt Russell in general. Many said the film was bad because he doesn't speak at all...but paradoxally, all is in his eyes (look when he kills Caine), and it's one of the best moment when he shakes his head, *saying* "oh, don't even think about it...".

The most frightening thing I've ever faced was a madwoman trying to keep me from protecting her children from her. I had no weapons. All I had was a lifetime of "escape and evade" from being bullied in school. The children are all 30 years older now, and she is in an urn. I still have scars...

    • You should read the story of the 77th Infantry division in WWII. They fought alongside the Marines in the Pacific, and they were so good that the Marines started calling them the 77th Marine division. They were all older men in their 30's and up, and one of the units nicknames was, the old bastards. Desmond Doss, the only medic in WWII to win the Medal of Honor was in that unit, so if you have ever seen the movie Hacksaw ridge, that was the 77th Infantry division.

      @genxer1@genxer13 жыл бұрын
    • It's not sadness. Like Todd told the woman, I can't remember her name, he said soldiers deserve soldiers. It was respect for the fighting ability of his enemy. It is an understanding that today we face each other on the field of battle, but tomorrow we toast each other in the Halls of Valhalla. Warriors do not mourn their enemy, but they can and often do have a respect for a worthy opponent.

    • They aren't really brainwashed. They just don't know any better. Todd was "brainwashed" until he was an older veteran and was exposed to civilians. Following orders doesn't mean you're brainwashed. The younger soldiers can only benefit by following orders, because they have no experience to draw on to make their own decisions.

The tattoos on his shoulder are explained by Mace to his wife. The battle of tannhauser gate was also one of the fights Roy was talking about at the end before he died. This also means the Alien series also has a tie in since it was made relevant in one of the movies. I can see brainstorming to put all three together for one hell of a good movie

    • Well. Experience as well as awareness along with intelligence. Kurt Russell's character "Todd" in the film.. Besides having more experience. Also has more awareness of his surroundings as well as being smart enough to trick his opponent. His opponent on the other hand.. Lacked both by quite a bit during the whole movie... And the statement about talent.. Of course I am assuming you mean raw talent.. Was more about the biologic modifications used in the creation of the soldiers like Jason Lee's character "Cane". I am by no means disagreeing with the statement you made. As it is true. It is just the fact that in this specific case "Cane" was more about a soldier with less experience but a much higher starting point physically vs a soldier with a LOT of experience. Both had a talent for combat. Its something that people can easily overlook since they semi gloss over what these soldiers would go through when growing up and the brutal way failures where dealt with.

    • The ultimate lesson of this battle is deception. The final and absolute lesson of war. Sun Tzu realized it, as well as Machiavelli. War is about deployment of force in the most effective manner. If you can get your enemy to expend themselves uselessly on a target of endeavor that not only expends themselves, but also gives you a strategic advantage, then you have begun to master the true art of war.

Their combat experience is only through trainings so basically this was their first field assignment. While Todd's kind were "the oldies" but wiser and more experienced. And that's why Todd outsmarted them and was able to defeat all 17 plus soldiers of Cain's kind including Cain himself.

  • This particular scene depicting Todd and Adam showcases the first time either of them show any emotion Adam, full of revenge for the deaths of his brothers and rage against Todd for killing them, then has a passing thought of whether he should kill the rest of the civilians after he's finished with Todd Todd, is actually getting frustrated with this supposed replacement not dying, and decided to make sure he's dead for sure this time before putting the fear of God in the commander's soul But they still had to obey the rules of war, because that's all they know

  • This scene is actually pretty sad. Orphaned, taken away from your birthright, forced to train, torment and tormented and kill or be killed, and then finally, when you're deemed too out of spec or outdated, you get replaced by someone stronger and better with hell lesser mercy and understanding than you makes this scene so heartbreaking, like from Todd's expression, he's a man trapped within a killing machine but not without heart and conscience, but with pain and emotions instead, being able to feel sympathy and sadness. No matter how deadly or sessoned a warrior you're, in the end you're still a human, a victim without your own free will, a pawn or a puppet in somebody else's game of cat and mouse. His words were expressed through emotions, and he felt it but never had a clear reason to let it out, to cry it out. I don't understand why people hated this movie, I love it very much and Kurt Russell definitely nailed the character like a finely done sculpture from pure rocks and skill! The story, the acting, everything with this movie was amazingly awesome!

  • You know the bad guys in this film aren’t the soldiers or their replacements. It’s the Commanding Officers being replaced and not given an exit package that addresses life after service. Instead they are thrown away like garbage. They wage relentless war and have totally numbed themselves to horror of it. We never actually see the society that commits this atrocity but we see the affects their heartless decision has on those who the most vulnerable to being victimized. The children.

  • Soldier of top level must have: - High adapting to any nature area. Including crysis of area, just like crysis of interferences of nature areas. Where war changes are secondary, except global overwhelming changes taking place because of massive influence on large area of application weapon. - High adapting to absence of nature that can be temporary within nature changes. Such type of adapting is mostly given during pregnancy. Later you must develop it using changes of blood turbulence of specific type, including full body coverage in connection to beat rate of heart work. After it you can pass distance between planets ane more. Being adapted in well level of efficience. Social grouo before space investigation gets changes by monsters. Such are the laws of life. - Next step to go overhead of any predator group (of any typy of any planet etc), making most strong competitive predators not able to fight you, you need to change bones for overlarge overadapting, adding to your nervous system and reaction, proactive overpredator style of working. Nature enforce your ordinary abilities to supernatural state, adding either enforcing others .. 🤫😉

    • You can find such group in 'sleeping' state. With degraded abilities of given types because of area specifics and incoming/outcoming details. - Even in this state groups goes to get more developed data connection making replacement in some part of safety questions. Together with attempts of finding solutions in intuitive way. For getting more developed. Second thing you make - evaluation of wide set of quality of product characteristics. - It helps to evaluate current strength. Own abilities of not that 'sleeping' object are dangerous for opening. Such object can't exist in not war of highests. War that had no stops etc, like ordinary one. Object uses nature for demolition either ressurection. - Taking away 'sleeping' state is natural part of activities.

  • Before he snapped his neck that was a really solid rear naked choke, usually in movies they don't show that kind of technique as far as getting the forearm and bicep in a V to close off both carotid arteries. They normally show a shitty forearm over the neck version.
