In this video, we're sharing our top 5 list of the cheapest turboprops you can buy, including their price and features. Stay until the end to see the most expensive turboprop on this list!
Buying a personal aircraft is a huge decision because these big-ticket items require hefty operational expenses. Despite their traditional propellers, turboprops provide a great power-to-weight ratio compared to the much cheaper piston engines. While jets may be able to fly at higher altitudes, they can be inefficient when it comes to fuel consumption, so turboprops may be your solution for regional or short-distance travel.

C90GTX is unfortunately not longer in production
PIPER M600 ????
It just sucks that they are ending the KA-90 line. 😭
@@jc0763 m600 and m500
Missed the two most obvious examples the piper m500 and m600
Your videos should include the following on all your listings - 1) top speed, 2) maximum range, 3) climb rate, 4) maximum cruise elevation, 5) fuel capacity, 6) fuel efficiency (fuel burn per hour), 7) passenger capacity, 8) gross weight capacity
Thank you for the valuable suggestion!
I noticed the same thing. I watched another video and the specs were part of the title...but in the video all I got was price and images....no details , no specs. I hope she takes the hint.
Thanks for saving me 11 minutes of my life.
Agreed
Over the last 45 years I have been lucky to fly a lot of different types of planes. From aerobatic competition biplanes to seaplanes to commuter turbo props to corporate twins to corporate jets to commercial airliners and after numerous failures / malfunctions and intentional shutdowns, I can attest two engines is ALWAYS BETTER THAN one. I like turbines better than pistons and the efficiency of a single turbo prop but there is little recourse when that SE plane decides to have a problem, be it at night, over water, over mountains, IMC etc…. As a freight dog flying C130s all over the world I can’t recall the number of shutdowns we had. As a commuter pilot I’ve had fuel controllers get stuck and become unresponsive to throttle inputs. As a ferry pilot for SE piston planes I’ve spent many a un programmed day and night on a Bench outside of a closed FBO after a mechanical. I paid my dues flying single engine at night IMC TO ALL KINDS OF PLACES. KNOWING WHAT I KNOW NOW, THAT WAS FOOLISH….
If it comes with a comfortable bathroom, maybe I'll buy one.
Platius pc12 is for you.
Sorry to get that you have to get into mid jets
Ahem. Little John portable urinal, with a Lady J extension. Cough.
At least toilet
Loved the video. My choice is the PC-12. It's the most expensive but has a lot of features import to me. Plus, it maintains a good resale value.
Same here! Thank you so much for watching.
Piper & Grobe of Germany has new Guys in Air...
Look at the PIPER N600 SLS it's pure porn
I flew PC6's (nicknamed Pinocchio) in the 70's. As time went, preference changes, now rotary wing SPIFR, one could never do a 40 Degree TAC on the side of a mountain with a helicopter. I still would favor a good single engine turboprop like TBM 940. That is one sweeeet plane!
Everytime I see a best Turboprops list I expect the Pilatus to be up there.
Amazing video! The PC-12 NGX is my fav. I had a fortuitous opportunity to fly in the copilot seat and to notice that the plane was incredibly smooth and could took off at merely 68 kts! I was speechlees
Thank you! I’m definitely jealous and looking forward to trying it out sometime
@@AviationFederation Are you a pilot? If so, let me congratulate you. We should see more female pilots flying around.
These are actually among the most expensive TPs in their categories
I was scratching my head there, too. M600 anyone? E1000?
And the Extra 500, probably the least expensive
M600 and m500
@@Charon58 Extra is not practical at all
I can get a TBM-940 just under $5 million U.S. TBM-940 albeit expensive to maintain, still less costly than a twin turboprop flies and lands better than most twins.
I would personally go with either the Kodiak or the Caravan. Love flying high-wings. Who ever heard of a bird with wings on its belly? :-)
Great list! I agree with place of each aircraft.
Appreciate the top 5.
Hi Sophia i love your documentary on turbo turboprop aircraft it is very nice and well put together I and a big fan of the TBM and Pilatus pc 12 they are the best in they class over all other turbo prop aircraft lov e the show and keep up this good work
Love the Cessna, tough and reliable.
Pilatus PC-12 is my choice and suits my wide-ranging mission profiles very well.
One of my all time favourites!
my choice is clear, pilatus pc-12, why i selected this plane is three reasons, 1- strength, 2- shortestst to take off and land, 3- high speed that enables you continental trips.
thanks alot, pilatus pc-12 NG/NGX is the most confidancial one in your list, for its capability of fast and smooth flight, and also its freindly with unpaved fields, with the shortest take off, if i can, i would take one from this type of pilatus pc-12 NG/NGX
Good documentary, good collection of planes. All are my favourites, whether i can buy or not.Like your channel. Will be waiting for more videos.BEST WISHES.
What an epic choice. That’s a very hard choice also, I wouldn’t know which one to those. Excellent 👍 first time on your channel. I have subscribed 😘
😎The only one 🛩is the best for every weather, run way condition, with the lowest maintenance cost, the shortes take off and with a very short landing space also at Outback Airfields like in 🇦🇺 Lot's of cargo space with a big automatik back cargo door, where you can use for different option! I would say as a long therm investment the Pilatus PC-12 NG /NGX would make every owner happy, proud to have a such a high end quality Turboprop Aircraft made in 🇨🇭👍🤔🙏
Without a doubt!
Would love to own a Kodiak. Maybe some day.
There's a lot of Pilatus own by Chrono Aviation around here. Love this plane and I didn't know why. I made some research and find that itis the most reliable turbo prop in the market. It as the the look of the old 2nd war plane a bit. Hope to fly on this plane one day.
I would pick the TBM any and every day of the week. So gorgeous and insanely fast.
Loved it, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Should note that the TBM940 is the newest version. I’ve flown every kind of TBM they have made and it’s a significant upgrade! Heck of an airplane
Excellent Video, many thanks! Greatings from Germany 😀
Thank you! 🇩🇪
Kodiak is my favorite, rough and tumble type aircraft
Have you evaluated the Epic e1000gx? It has a larger cabin, faster climb (4000 fpm) and larger full fuel, full passenger payload than the TBM940. Airspeed is within1-2 knots of TBM. Range is 1500nm+. It also is approximately $500,000+ cheaper than TBM940.
I’d have to give a shout out for the Piper M600, but you put out a good list.
Thanks! Love the M series as well. Maybe I’ll put out a separate list just for them.
I would have been interested in the range of each plane
Look it up then😂
Good list. I'd take the Caravan and the TBM. I do like the Kodiak, it's quickly becoming the small plane to watch.
Totally agree @Mike Stone !
Very nice choices, although, their range would've been a plus. The Kodiac 100 is my choice. Thank you for your post.
Good choice! Thank you for watching!
TBM is my #1 pick from this list, and I'll have the Pilatus as 2nd.
Feels good to be able to afford to watch this video👌🏾😌
Here in Brazil the Pilatos PC-12 is very well regarded.I love this plane.
Hello 🇧🇷! Thank you for the comment.
Fantastic Comparisons regarding aircraft
Thanks so much! More to come!
Brilliant awesome airoplanes philip is a tbm fan.
Thank you for dropping by, @Philip Gledhill!
Hi and Thanks. your articles are informative. It will help if you would include information about cockpit instrumentation (Garmin 1000 etc..) and the type of engine and its efficiency and power.
Good video, a review list needs a little more detail on each plane, and at the time of this video, the newest TBM model was the 940.
Thank you!
The black Knight! Awesome airplane
Nice video, well made. I love planes and your channel. I would like to see the specs of every plane at least. You know, the specs are the most important thing to a pilot wannabe. The Epic E 1000, Lancair Evolution, Piaggio Avanti Evo and the Piper M600 are good capable planes also. The Diamond DA 62 is the most reliable turboprop in history by the way. Just not sure if its "cheap".
Thank you for the kind feedback!
Here before this channel blows up
That’s nice of you to say. Thanks for dropping by!
I like your selections.
Thank you!
What about the TBM 940? Top notch!
I like last one PC 12 is best
You need to look at kit turbo props too. Like AeroComp in Merritt Island.
Thanks for the suggestion!
They are outstanding planes. Esp with the Walther 601 turbine.
Would like to hear included a comparison of range numbers, gph, etc.
Philip is interested in the kodiak 100.after a period of time you could trade in for a tbm940. I think the kodiak 100 would be good for beginners as well. Do you think the same philip. Take care and keep safe phil.
Hi, Phil! If you’re talking about flipping aircraft just like flipping cars or houses, I think that could work, although I haven’t tried. It might be a long way from the Kodiak to the TBM though. Maybe start with a piston engine and work your way up!
What about the Pilatus PC6, Piper M600 or the Epic 1000? My alltime Fav is the PC 12.
AWSOME GREAT 👍
Thanks!
#3 & #4 are the workhorses of the skydiving industry!
Very nice every aircraft 💝
I like it your playlist
from this show, it's more trendy, namely this manufacturer's pilatus is very extraordinary
Deffinetly the Pilatus PC12
Verry nice
Well done! But I feel like the title should be '5 Cheapest Turboprops 2021-2022 starting at only $2.5 million'
I like the look of the TBM 900 although I'd have to win the Lottery to buy one.
love your voice
What about the TBM-940?
These are all very pretty planes. Too bad you don't get to fly in them on a holiday... ;-)
Video: Worlds cheapest turboprops... Thumbnail: PC12NG.... 😂
Funny, isn't it? 😂
@@AviationFederation hilarious... thats why im here!
Nice
Thanks!
Hard to ignore the new Epic 1000 !
Completely missed that one! Just haven't personally seen it yet.
Pilatus PC-12 Awesome
Indeed!
How many different type of plane there is available for bathroom as well as auto pilot case of emergency and lastly you mention all the new planes but can you buy them a used price ? If so please let the viewers know what kind of options they have!!! Please and thank you!!!
Thank you for the very informative contribution. Nevertheless, the polite question why 99% of all aviation commentators and pilots use the generic "aircraft" so incredibly often and happily, instead of the specific, more accurate airplane, plane or aeroplane. Is that due to a tick? Do you sacrifice accuracy because you think "aircraaaaft" sounds better?
Give price , range and seating options available, please
Wonderfull..
If I ever win the lottery a PC-12 is gonna be all mine!
You totally missed the Epic E 1000
You most certainly got number 1 correct.
Seems there is another one you forgot and I think it is called the Stratos. I haven't heard anything about it for a while. Is it even in production?
I featured the Stratos 716X on my list of the Top 5 Cheapest Private Jets video, and yes, it's still in production and it even has a limited release kit program. You can check it out here: kzhead.info/sun/gLOth69rbJadeYU/bejne.html
@@AviationFederation I thought it was a turboprop. Did I get the wrong name? I'll watch the video. I watched the video. I think it's the same company that developed a turboprop. It was super sleek looking. I think they sold some as experimental but may never have gone into production. I'm back again. I checked my list of plane videos and it's Epic not Stratos. The video I have is from 7 months ago and just says they just got FAA type certificate for full production. I think it is the best looking turboprop.
That’s nice to know! Will check out Epic Aircraft and maybe feature them too. Haven’t really encountered them yet, so I’ll have to dig a little bit. Thanks for sticking around, btw!
I jump parachute,in boituva-SP-Brazil He is beautiful flyng 😁
I like the Daher TBM 940
A pretty good report but you left out the Piper Meridian.
How about a list of the cheapest twins and another about the most expensive twins .. the DA62 is a sexy looking twin .. cool list by the by :)
Thank you! That’s a great suggestion.
The TBM 940 (last version) is the only plane in your list to have an autoland system...
O que eu achei? Top!!!
Range? Capacity (cargo, passenger, weight/cargo)? Max speed?
The TBM has a newer model: the 940.
Piper M600 w/autoland?
What about the Piper Meridian? I think the PA-46 M500TP would fit the list and I also think, it would not be too expensive, compared to the others in the list. Anyway: I like the video.
The Piper Meridian and Malibu are really great contenders although no longer in production. I guess I’m a little biased squeezing in a Kodiak here! Thank you very much for the feedback! I appreciate it.
@@AviationFederation well it is, it’s just called the M500 and M600 now. I also think the Epic E1000 deserves a mention.
Cessna Denali
Max Flight distance range is missing...in KiloMeters.....for all aircraft be shown & Fuel Tank liter capacity too...
Thanks for the feedback!
It can be Typed and showen as Display Tape
"Buying a personal aircraft is a huge decision, because this big ticket item requires heavy operational expenses"... Yes, I was just about buying an aircraft, but I had a second thought about it...
I wish we had range, payload, cruise and altitude specs. Nice video though.
Thanks for the feedback! More info available in our latest videos.
Newer planes are great if you have the money for one. Myself I would buy an older version and rebuild it as needed.
The Epic LT1000 GX should have been included in this group at $3.4 mil
hehe, love the title! sugar you can skimp on, socks.. ok fine, used car purchase to save cash? sure... AIRPLANES YOU DON'T BUY CHEAP. If you are the lucky few who is even thinking of buying a plane pay full price.
Pilatus rules!
Love 'em!
What about the Pipers?
Live by the Rockies and coastal mountain ranges... King Air all the way...
You missed Epic E1000 GX ...
What about piper n600
Yip, the Pilatus is a clear winnet
4.4 mil, round it off to 5, and I would acquire a fleet. Beautiful bird.
I prefer exact numbers versus rounding.
Cheapest??? Using what criteria. The TBM 940 lists for $4.3M I doubt the TBM900 is $300K less. Using a list of single engine turboprops & the base price of each along with operating cost /hour is a more equitable cost factor. This list of 5 seems to be someone's biased favorite turboprops. What happened the to EPIC 1000 or the Meridian turboprop?
I missed the engines used by each. I Googled 'em..no worries 😉
