Antonio Banderas, Joaquim De Almeida, Salma Hayek, Cheech Marin, Steve Buscemi and Quentin Tarantino star in this stylish shoot-'em-up described as a south-of-the-border Pulp Fiction. Director Robert Rodriguez follows up his legendary debut film, El Mariachi, with this sexy sequel about a mysterious guitar player (Banderas) searching for vengeance against the men who murdered his girlfriend.

  • I don't think we fully appreciate El Mariachi's situational awareness here in this scene. After all of that adrenaline coursing through his veins, shooting, shootdodging, and that "grab any gun to kill the last guy" part, he STILL KNEW the last gun that the guy grabbed was loaded because it belonged to the first guy El Mariachi dropped when he fashionably said, 'Not yet,' as he never fired off a round. Its all done by force. If you know you have a old shot clip with a weak spring, doing this might help it load and not jam or it might be old bullets not propeling the slide enough backwards so hes putting force himself on it to finish the rest of the job.

  • The way he throws the bullets out of the pistols toward the people when on the bar. He is the coolest actor. I always felt Sylvester Stallone didn't fit the part in Assassins, but Antonio was great. Should have been Bruce Willis, like in The Jackal. I've always wondered if The Mariachi knew Bucho was his brother the whole time, or was he going from Bad Guy to Bad Guy until he finally found his brother? There is so much more than the main story going on. The cartel spy, who the bad guys kill (oops), the nephew who kills the fighter then gets a job with a knee brace, the little boy selling drugs for his dad, and the book store info. So much character development. Robert Rodriguez is the man!!

    • Given how he reacts when he sees his brother and is told that's Butcho chances are he didn't. He did the events from the first film hus girlfriend gets killed and he vows revenge and after he kills the first bad guys he hears they work for Butcho so it's a burn em all down. He goes from town to town asking and hearing Butcho's name but doesn't know the man until Selma tells him by sight. Now given he knew where Butcho lived once he knew who it was he was looking for says he knew his older brother was in the business but didn't realize his brother was the same man he was looking for.
