  • Stellar job man! Im amazed at how well these printed jets are flying. And don't stop being you Brother. The child inside is full of wonder and amazement...and that's so refreshing to see in this current state of our hobby. Side note: I would love to see options for a rudder and full flying canards on this one. Those options could really help push the boundaries of what this airframe is capable of.

  • X-36 good move with vertical stabiliser. If will fly well you can trim down. It's a pity, that I cannot paste a picture here but i would suggest make low profile stabiliser but extend it a little beyond fuselage an make sharp triangle shape to be in consistency with wings. I hope you can imagine what I'm saying. BTW, J10 flies amazing I'm amazed by your channel, will stay a long with you for sure :-)

    @robflyrc@robflyrcАй бұрын
    • I’m trying to figure out what your suggestion is. Triangle shaped parts coming off the trailing edge of the wing or the fuselage in the rear? Let’s figure the boundary later is 1/4” high

      @hotlapkyle@hotlapkyleАй бұрын
    • @@hotlapkyle diamond -ish in fact I have in mind. Based on my experience with manta ray and Hammerhead I think if vertical stabiliser is low profile but is far away from CoG point is still effective. So probably for x36 without thrust vectoring or without some "drag making" elements on tip of wings (like B2 has) stabiliser can be low, nice looking but effective if somehow it will be moved as far from CoG as it can be . Especially you can see how small it can be in my manta (in my channel)

      @robflyrc@robflyrcАй бұрын
    • @@hotlapkyle Option with two smaller stabilisers like in my hamerhead also will work. For the maiden I make them huge and after each flight trimmed down and at the and they are look quite good, and consistent with sf look of this plane.

      @robflyrc@robflyrcАй бұрын
  • Beautiful plane and yes it flies good but would fly better especially at lo2 speed with functional canards.

  • My three rolls of PLA-LW and two rolls of PETG-LW arrived today so I'm going to do some experimenting and then print the F4D Skyray and the Mini-delta (both 50mm) and see for myself. I don't know about going 90mm, my flying area is much more limited than yours. Update : there's an error above that's pointed out to me and I corrected it below.

    • there's no such thing as petg-lw

    • @@JustGoAndFly and your absolutely RIGHT, I miss-typed and messed it all up. Let me fix it. I meant I got the PLA-LW (PolyLite brand, grey) and some 'PolyLite PETG' too (black, green & blue)

    • 3 kinds of lw pla, pre-foamed LW pla, active foaming LW PLA, LW PLA-HT There is also LW ASA and Active Foaming TPU aka Varioshore There is a random Australian who has experimented with creating LW PETG by putting the spool in a bucket of water overnight. They claim it prints at 50% flow rate. I don't have any sacrificial spools though.

    • It’s called the Shmiggen! 😂 go look for the flights it’s been done for almost 3 weeks

      @hotlapkyle@hotlapkyleАй бұрын
    • @@hotlapkyle Oh I see! You snuck in a name change and then published the build videos later. And that first Smiggen video starts out on flight four or five so I was looking for the "first flight" shake out video which I guess didn't make the cut and got left in the camera. It definitely flies well considering there's no rudder. I think your next video covering the slicing will be educational. It's still hard to believe printed airplanes can be light enough to fly and still not shear along layer lines in rough landings.

  • Which of your designs do you recommend for a 70mm edf. Donor parts from a Habu STS that had an argument with a tree 🥴

    @290Alenka@290AlenkaАй бұрын
    • What’s your experience level in RC jets? The great thing about all my designs is how you can scale any of them to any size. Just scale it up with math and then print the edf section of the fuselage first to verify fitment
