New Lexus LFA! Hyper-GT Concept Previews Next Halo Model
As difficult second albums go, creating a follow-up to the mighty Lexus LFA is utterly unenviable. In no small part because that legendary car’s identity consisted largely of its naturally aspirated V10 engine, which made a noise that could make F1 cars blush.
This, the Lexus Electrified Sport concept, won’t do that - but it isn’t stopping Lexus from using it to try and figure out how a future hyper-GT might at least hold a candle to its howling predecessor.
For Lexus, that means creating a connection to the driver. It’s experimenting with manual gearboxes in electric cars, a joyous interaction that flies in the face of the zeitgeist for speed and efficiency. We’re talking trick four-wheel drive too, and steer-by-wire for added agility. Mega four-figure power outputs and silly acceleration are a given, but Lexus is developing a next-generation high-performance battery that will be thinner and lighter too.

Can this live up to the LFA?
no.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Noooooooooooooooooo!!!
from a design perspective? yes. from a performance perspective? yes. from a sound perspective? no
There will be a gas one too
Even if they manage to put a V10 in that concept, it won't live up to it because the lfa was the first nmw. However it's a fantastic looking car
I wouldn't be surprised at a plug-in hybrid performance powertrain. There is a lot of room under that long hood for an ICE.
They're releasing a separate supercar w a hybrid TTV8 that will come out a year or two before the car the video is about. It's called the LFR and there's a couple leaks online
Did you watch the video 😂 the guy from lexus says he wants it to be light and fast with next battery tech. Not lugging around an entire extra system it doesn't need
@@Dtp2296that "entire extra system" still ends up lighter than full electric because the energy density of batteries is THAT bad.
It would be sick if they made a hybrid that took advantage of the sick 1GZ-FE that Toyota produces. And dropped it into that bad boy with a twin turbo.
@@YourPalQWERTY you say "produces" like they still make that motor. Unfortunately they stopped making those 7 years ago.
How dare they make the new LFA electric!
Environmental regulations does things to car companies sadly.
From the one company who didn't spread their cheeks for the cLiMaTe ChAnGe globalists, this is a bummer.
You sound like a child
@@kitty-jq5jsbullshit bcuz Toyota has one of the cleanest carbon emissions of any company so they don't need this
@@rodneypratt4324💩
this almost reminds me of the 2000gt if it was made today
Exactly!!! I was sitting here thinking, "where have I seen this before?" Then I saw your post, this is definitely the 2000gt reincarnated.
Same!
Spot on yes!!
What an absolute stunner. Nissan: THIS is how you design a halo concept. Gorgeous.
Absolutely, Toyota/Lexus is on an absolute fire.
I wanted the new GT-R to look like the GTR-50. Not a cardboard with wheels.
Akio Toyoda is my kind of car brand leader and cares about what makes a car fun to drive. I trust that whatever this concept ultimately ends up being, it will not only be fast but evoke all the senses you'd want in a performance car.
Hopefully. I like Akio as well but we do have to keep in mind that nothing is a certainty.
Nahhh they need bring the v10 back otherwise it’s not LFA at all
True
Alright gramps, go buy the old one then
@@JHunter_ what’s your issue kid
@@JHunter_Such a childish response.
It will be too expensive .
It might be the most beautiful car I’ve ever seen
Look at the Aston Martin Vulcan! It looks the same
Paddy mate, take a look at it again compare it even to the LC500 lol
@@Einfach_Ghetto_TV the vulcan has very different features tbh
I don't think it's close. To me the Lola T70 is the most beautiful car. But the reality is that there are a lot of cars that are beautiful.
@@Scoots1994 for me, the Ferrari F40 and the Lancia 037 are my picks. But yeah, there are many cars that could rival those. The T70 is very pretty tbf
Before y'all freak out, theres pretty reliable-sourced rumors this is just gonna be the EV version of the LFA. Theres likely gonna be an ICE version made in the same platform as the confirmed next gen Toyota MR2. Theres also the GR GT3 race car concept which also looks gorgeous btw but thats more likely to be its own thing separately. (Also ICE bcs duh the GT3 racing category doesn't allow EVs) But it would be SICK if the LFA was based off of THAT cuz that would mean it's an actual performance car engineered on the track itself just like the original.
Only clowns and bozos hate on ev while driving automatics
@@ducksauce2746 I never said I hate EVs.
If you want sound, why not combine the cooling system with a bellow? Cold air goes in, flows over the battery bank, hot air goes out of a resonance chamber. The faster you drive, the louder it gets.
That removes aerodynamic efficiency and throws it away
@@radioactive6998some of the fastest most aerodynamic cars out there have intakes and tunnels that allow air to go through them or under them. It creates less resistance and more downforce. They just haven’t ever used that air to produce sound.
Would be interesting but I don’t know if the sound would be that appealing. Although I guess it could be tuned like an instrument
Ice car engines don't get louder with vehicle speed. They get louder with engine rpm and throttle input. What you're describing would just be annoying.
You mean like a Jericho trumpet inspired sound? Driving on a highway and spreading fear around :D
The fact that you have to explain to us why and how it looks like the LFA says it all 😂
They have the V8 Twin Turbo Hybrid variant.
Yes they do I wonder why they didn't speak about that 🤔
@@linkylion9060 probably because they are talking about the distant future of Lexus in terms of electrification
@@linkylion9060testing it on track for the GTD Pro series. Lexus is very good at keeping a secret
At first I would never connect the similarities with the original LFA, but when I noticed that it also has 4 wheels like the original LFA, then I said to myself; Well, this is truly the true successor to the LFA!
Looks way more current Supra than anything else
yeah look a lot like the FT-1 Concept
You guys need a very good eye specialist... 🤦♂
Made me think of the Vulcan the moment I saw it. You didn't show the rear lights any closer, but you should have. They look amazing, like the whole car.
Was looking for this comment lol
Awesome... How about the sound 😢
I love the way it looks!
This is just brilliant! I really hope they make it! What a looker! And just imagine the performance that an electric powertrain will give this thing! Well done Lexus and Toyota!
If it has that hyperspace sound, I'm sold
I love that. The back may be my favourite, but it's all beautiful.
very cool but what about those models in the background? New 4runner and Corolla?
Would have been better as a hybrid. Thank you come again🤙
it almost certainly will be going by spy footage of them testing the pre-pro model
This is so good looking - I really hope that they can make this production viable
This is one of the most incredible looking concepts I have ever seen. Oh my God.
Drive by wire. Cool. May the parking brake lever be attached mechanical to the frame so actual road feel is provided to driver?
The silhouette is a dead ringer for the 2000GT. Beautiful.
Lexus never makes a manual car. But when they want to, they made it into EVs that doesn't even need a transmission. Make it make sense
needs more straight lines, triangular lights, and most of all - LFAish rear end. Always loved the rear end of LFAs
that profile looks like a modern bugatti atlantic. Love it
I’ve seen an Atlantic in person and I don’t think I’ve seen a more beautiful car. The car museum in Mulhouse, France is amazing they have 2 Bugatti Royals there too.
It should have had dual motors in the rear and batteries placed in the middle in my opinion other than that it's gorgeous car.
Lppks like a TVR Griffith from the rear
lot of space for that fairy dust V10 ❤
There's no reason to call it a new LFA (apart from the obvious marketing strategy), because the reason people love the LFA is literally the gas engine and that glorious sound, the car look awesome, but it's literally an ironic joke to call it lfa when it's an electric car LOL
LF = Lexus Future. A = Apex. It is by definition literally both of those things.
If they say, it is LFA. That engine was tuned by Yamaha and from what I know Toyota also collaborates with Yamaha on newest electric motors. Simplest way to give it sound is of course speakers, but you can also tune electric motor to make it a speaker. Sure connecting it to amplifier may not be most practical way, but we have seen skateboards being tuned to eliminated unwanted noise and make it completely silent, so you can definitely go the opposite direction. Also depending on power it can still have sound like Nevera.
This gives me hope for the future. Instead of just moving people from point A to B, it does so with a sense of fun. And the AI is being used to assist in the cabin instead of talking over driving.
Looks fabulous 🤘🏼
It's not really the electric that bothers me, it's the lack of sound.. These EVs need to have some crazy futuristic sound to them, and I'm not talking about artificial sound pumped out of the speakers.. also they need a gearbox.. shifting is a part of driving, and it needs to be there.
If solid state batteries are an actuality like u say… this is immense news, seriously massive!
thankfully the actual car will most likely have a tt v8 hybrid powertrain, since there's spy footage of them already testing the pre-production version (possibly called the LFR)
That car is amazing, but that room its in is also really beautiful too lol
I love this design very much!
Saying you’ve “cracked” solid state batteries and then saying you can only produce them in 2027 is very dumb.
“Car is fun. Car is emotional. Driving is emotional.” Hope the future JDM market sticks to this mantra…!
The front end is reminding me a but of mclaren P1 and a Vulcan mix.
Looks production ready. A tease of a dream car like the FT-1.
It is just a shell. It doesn't mean that you can fit all components inside.
This LFA back would look real good as the front
this looks like what a electric toyota supra concept would be
I'm still not ready for the E-Car transfer revolution, but this thing looks and seems amazing! I'm listening......✌🏾💚✊🏾😅
Isn't this Daikoku PA where the LFA is ?
man, hearing mr Suga speak is just fantastic.
they never should've stopped production on the old LFA; that was a beast of a car and they knew it. making an LFA-successor without a proper V10 engine is like removing the soul from the car. it looks fantastic, but EV just isn't my bag.
Gorgeous! But I'll pass without that killer sounding V10.
It looks like the Supra concept they showed before they gave up and rebadged a BMW.
Now this a concept i actually care about !
Beautifully designed
my fav vid so far
What is the actual intention behind a concept car, really?
Attract media attention, gauge market interest, convince senior management that it's worth investing in
@@sanatprasad1594 🤔
V8 twin turbo or some engine if its a hybrid great use the v8 out of the LC and RC cars please
reminds me alot of the TVR Griffith
The thing is if Lexes actually put this out earlier they can find a market compared to waiting and selling when basically all the other brands have cars like these.
looks super pretty from the back
Amazing!
Does it move?
I want that thing badly. Only hope they don't ruin design in a production models
What a stunner
I hope it will have cup holder
And a larger fuel ta-er-battery. A larger battery.
So is the new Gr gt3 concept not gonna be the LFA. I’m confusion
tom touring asia to review every futuristic car for us ❤❤
It's aesthetics and overall shape are very reminiscent of the Aston Martin Vulcan. Little disappointing that it's electric, but I'll keep an open mind about it.
A problem with the P1s was the batteries failing and the effort, time, and money for a replacement. Just imagine in 8-10year when its time to replace the battery in that thing, because we all know batteries dont last as many miles or years as an ice . Good luck. To me you keep it on display for decades at "shipment capacity" and it might last 20-30 years.
LFA's known for its sound and if Toyota once bring back the same name it should be with a good sound too, otherwise it will be just a eletric car "surfing" in another's car name, and one especially known about the sound that produce. The design is beautifull, though.
It’s going to like when Honda tried to make a front engine NSX and had to scrap it because no one wanted it
It looks really good, but I think I'll go with that new toyota that's almost like an electric mr2
A good-looking one for once. Looking a bit like a ...Jensen?
Just put that gorgeous V10 under the hood and make it the best sounding hybrid on the market😎
Nice & Smooth 😊😊😊😊
That's one car that's gonna need artificial F1 sound
I believe this is different the the LF R being worked on that looks more like a Mercedes SLS Black Series? I hope so
man the thing that made the LFA so special is the v10 sound. And you Lexus took more than half of it’s value😂
With that long hood. Has to be a v12 or v10 with electric motor
Fun fact… initially the LFA was plan to be a hybrid V8 to debut it as world first hybrid supercar but was scrapped for the magnificent V10
New Toyota hypercar let’s gooooo
Will it have apple CarPlay
I'll pay Lexus 6 pounds if this ever hits production
We want authenticity. No fake vents, No fake engine noises. No fake ebrakes. No fake manual transmissions.
LFA is undoubtedly the best sounding car but it's future isn't look like this !!
Can't wait for SSB Technology to be a thing. It's gonna change the game for EVs. At that point, It's gonna be a no brainer for EVs over ICE especially if you live in Warmer Areas.
The Solid state batteries should allow for a hybrid car with both emotion and crazy performance
It looks amazing! Too bad it doesn't have a soul! I can't wait for someone to put a straight pipe Toyota V8 in it!
someone HAS to put an internal combustion in that if it really does come out as full electric
Lexus pls make this concept a real production car
the model like modernize toyota 2000gt , really cool looking car
Lfa sound is where it was epic , wonder how would this one be epic or stand out from the ev crowd
hybrid V8/V10 would make the most sense
what springs to mind when I hear Lexus LFA? well Jeremy Clarkson and his love for it
This is so cool but probably could never afford it
This is incredible. So many people are going to buy this. Electric cars are the future. I cant wait for everyone to have an electric car so I can buy cheap gas again as demand for gas decreases and prices go down because of it.
Pls bring LFA back with an emissions complaint V10 + hybrid, and a manual transmission. Also pls don't take long to develop or launch this, the hype/interest may fade.
Looks like a McLaren in the front end so its its nothing like a LFA IMO ! Since when did Toyota decide to get into the supercar craze again ?
The car looks awesome. But the swoop on the rear end makes it look deflated.
I thought they were making a v8 tt for the gt3 series.
They're making both, when it eventually comes out it'll be available as an EV or a V8
