It's great to see how the concept is similar with our own methods. I'm a Filipino and when I was young my uncle would take me to the mountains to burn a huge pile of wood in a pit, then we cover them with banana leaves and soil and wait for a few hours to dig up the charcoal. We used to sell them by the sack and was good profit. Cheers from the PH pitboys, stay healthy.
sounds like a Hawaiian luau minus the pig
Thats awesome. Thanks for sharing
Parehos tayu pre😁
a great experience yes my father used to bring me to the mountains and show me how to make charcoals too.
Part Pinoy here😁👍🏻
I can't believe it. 10 years of content and this is the first time I've seen you guys, I got some catching up to do! Thanks a lot, KZhead...
Welcome to the Pit!
@@bbqpitboys you guys from Canada?
This is my first time seeing them now I need to make me some charcoal
Cheaper. Absolutely better quality. Definitely more fun. Good job. Thanks guys. Side note: Henry Ford was an avid camper/outdoors man. Ford used wood in auto construction so he built a sawmill. Not one to be wasteful he pondered on what to do with all the scrap wood from his sawmill. The sawmill operations were managed by his cousins husband. Edward Kingsford. You know the rest.
I watch hundreds and hundreds of cooking videos on KZhead, but these guys were the first that I ever watched. I literally never even thought of going to KZhead to learn how to cook anything until I watched one of their videos back in 2014. These guys started it all for me and even though I don't really do that much with barbecue and outdoor cooking lately I still owe it to them for turning me on to the Fantastic world of culinary videos on KZhead. By the way if I'm not mistaken the saw is an MS361, one of Stihl's finest.
Thanks for your support Jim
My first too
"Don't be an idiot" Bold words on the internet sir.
That's the official disclaimer. Because there is a 100% chance an idiot has watched this video. And if those words offend, deal with it.

I teared a little bit seeing that bacon grease used as a fire starter. That's what vegetable oil is for!
Veg oil is for vape pen and soy boy trucks.
@@historyhunter5215 It works good as a quench oil for my blacksmithing or to season the grill forks and steak turners I make.
Is this a fake account?
@@Webgobo most likely... But he is missed.
Gasoline and a roman candle is my favorite fire starter

Hello from Canada!
Thanks for the great video, love seeing the Canadian flag too!
Awesome. How long would it take to do the burning? Is that pile of wood sufficient for the whole process?
Mmmm can't wait to take a big ol bite hooooweeee that's that good crunch!
Thanks Handzee for showing this! Great guy
Cheers 🍻 BPB4L
Thank you guys it's guud
These guys are great
Good living. I love it!!
I like that this method uses the gasification to heat itself. I've seen other methods that just pump out smoke, instead of burning it. Well done.
Thanks for sharing 💯🔥🔥🔥👌🏼
This is about being able to live as independently as one can in your circumstances. Get the full set of the "Foxfire Books" to learn all this sort of stuff. Love it, when TSHTF.
Thank you great. Idea I will research and have my old man do try for me
Looks tasty, I love eating charcoal...so crunchy yum

Awesome stuff guys !!!! But can I use birch wood?? It´s pretty dense wood to !?
That was cool I like that which I like all your videos thanks
Damn if I'm waiting 6 hours it would cost me more in beer then it would just to buy some Lmfao..
@ lol yeah a few but if I gotta wait 6 hours well that's party mode and I'll drink too much..
@@caveman5831 he do b,q
Yeah 6 hours is 2 trips to the store 😂😂😂
1 beer every 10 minutes is a six pack per hour, multiply that times 6 hours equals a thirty six pack, give or take depending if shots are included in that time frame. Definitely manageable.
Tip. You do this while smoking a butt. You will be outside anyways.
Awesome vid and tips. Thanks!
Thanks for watching Harry
Wow amazing
I filled three trash cans with hickory nut charcoal, last fall. Sure used it up quickly. Can’t wait for this year’s season.
