  • I never met Grant, but look at how many people he's helped with these videos to get off of couches and gaming chairs and actually do something worthwhile. I knew how to make large batches of charcoal with clay mounds, but not small batches for little projects. This video popped up in my feed when it first was published and I've been using it to make 3lb batches of black powder with each paint bucket full, all thanks to Grant. I haven't bought any black powder in several years thanks to this - only substitutes for when I don't want to shoot anything corrosive through a hard to clean gun like a lever action. I've taken game and done French and Indian War reenactments and gotten Native American and non Native kids interested in their history with the black powder made with this charcoal method coupled with my trusty musket. Thanks, Grant. I know that you're enjoying this next adventure.

      @desiree7742@desiree77428 жыл бұрын
    • Clear glass - I don't think so. Well, it would maybe break after some time because of teperature difference. And it won't be instant effect. If liquid nitrogen would heat, it would just boil a little more intensive, but created mist would disperse the light more effectively. The other thing is that liquid nitrogen and dry ice would only boil/evaporate heated, producing some mist, so - nothing very impressive. (however, if you would close them in container and then heat it would "explode" because of pressure). Anyway, hey, I said "presumably". I didn't say it's bad idea to try. I would be very happy to see that I'm wrong. =D

I cut it up into smaller charcoal sized pieces and "cooked" it. I now have beautiful charcoal for the next time I cook. This video was awesome. Thanks. I appreciate it. I go through so much charcoal because I grill a lot. This video saved me hundreds of dollars. Easily.

  • During WWII the federal govt distributed literature which described how to convert gasoline powered engines to burn that wood gas through the process of gassificiation. Was basically a 55 gallon drum with a vent that went to your carburetor you filled with wood and biomass, and put that inside of a bonfire. Was designed so farmers could still farm with tractors if there was a shortage of fuel. Could also run low horsepower vehicles, even some pickup trucks of the day.

    • You could, probably, if you use an electrolytic seperator with water, you get highly flamable hydrogen gas and oxygen gas as well. Oxygen allows combustion, so if you can collect the gasses and control the output rate, you could certainly burn the gas, and with the right hydrogen to oxygen ratio, you could probably power a mini foundry.

    • Grant Thompson - "The King of Random" I really wish I did, when I researched it a few months ago I learned there are 2 basic methods to activate it, high heat steam or using acid + very high heat then washing it to remove the acid. But the temperatures involved are close to 2k Deg F for steam and even higher for the acid method, I know we have melted glass bottles in a super hot campfire before which is about a 3000F melting point, so it can be done but that fire took hours to make and was a stay 5 feet back or your clothes started smoking fire :)
