If you're wondering why Canelo took this fight, Yildirim was the WBC mandatory but there's more to it than that. There were already negotiations between team Canelo and team Saunders for a unification bout in May. So Canelo wanting to stay active took the fight and then be ready for Saunders.

If you're wondering why Canelo took this fight, Yildirim was the WBC mandatory but there's more to it than that. There were already negotiations between team Canelo and team Saunders for a unification bout in May. So Canelo wanting to stay active took the fight and then be ready for Saunders.
No he requested for Yildrim to be the mandatory. He wanted an easy fight.
