0:00 Introduction: Is oatmeal healthy?
1:17 New information on oatmeal
7:00 Is eating breakfast healthy?
7:17 Learn more about the benefits of skipping breakfast!
Is oatmeal bad for you? Let’s talk about it.
The small packets of flavored oatmeal contain a lot of sugar, and even though they may be marketed as healthy-they’re not.
But what about unsweetened oatmeal?
Here are three things you might not know about unsweetened oatmeal:
1. Certain studies show a significant improvement in blood sugar and cholesterol. However, the control in one of these studies is white bread. The study also only showed an improvement in blood sugar right after the meal.
Part of the study referring to cholesterol was only on consuming beta-glucan, which is an isolated compound in oatmeal. In a different study, the participants all had diabetes, and they didn’t see a change in their blood glucose levels.
2. Oats contain a type of gluten called avenin. This protein has been known to increase cytokines.
3. Oat products have often been treated with glyphosate. The World Health Organization classifies glyphosate as a carcinogen.
It may be beneficial to skip breakfast altogether and give intermittent fasting a try. If you do consume breakfast, eggs would be a healthier choice than oatmeal.

Yes new studies show that air has pollution in it which is lethal to humans, it is also full of pollen which will swell nasal airways and cause havoc on your immune system. Please don't forget that ALL food is also harmful, all plants have lectins and animals consume plants plus grains and breathe the bad air.

I’ve eaten Quaker Oates every single day, even camping, or traveling, oatmeal has been part of my breakfast for decades. My grandmother who passed at 94 ate it every day since a child. She worked till she was 80. So I guess oatmeal should be skipped? Nope. I’m not changing up a thing. Most people around me at my age I know, suffer from may health related issues. In the last 3 yrs, I have switched to Red Mill brand. Much better than Quaker.

Look at the ingredients, go for something with good variety, least processed and low in sugar. Currently I'm taking this particuar mix called "superfood mix" and it is a combination of Almonds, Pumpkin Seeds, Cashew Nuts, Brazil Nut, Toasted Coconut, Sunflower Seeds, Goji Berries, Chia Seeds, Linseed (Flax seed), Mulberry, Raw Cacao Nibs. Simply scoop a serving of this to your oats + milk. Personally, I also have 50g frozen berries (blueberries or mixed berries - frozen is 5-6 times cheaper) + 2 pasture-raised eggs + 10g cod liver + gelatin powder (good for joints and skin) + Sugarless Vitamin C Tablet And that's breakfast

  • We're eating rolled oats(not instant) every morning..30-40 grams of rolled oats ..add 10-15 grams of oat bran, add nuts, banana, unsweetened cacao powder(optional)do not pour too much boiled water... just enough to cover the rolled oats and oat bran..not too liquid to avoid glucose. The key point is avoid boiling the rolled oats. Actually above 65°c the starch starts "to leak" making it more digestible, hence a quicker and higher glycemic load. The insulinemic response being mainly driven by the glucose, no peak of sugar =no peak of insulin. In the literature, the GI of large oats flakes is given for around 50 but is more than 60 for thin flakes. Boiled for 8 minutes it can reach more than 70. Take note that the flakes(rolled oats) are already pre cooked, it is not like eating raw oats. Overnight rolled oats during summer. We buy organic rolled oats here in France. 14 hour Intermittent fasting is enough for us but we never skip breakfast. Hope Dr. Berg will make a video on the effect of eating eggs/dairy products on prostate health.

For those with heart disease, oats have more benefits in clearing out the arteries and lowering LDL cholesterol, so it really helps. Monsanto and Conagra use sprays and GMO seeds that are the main culprit to side effects to your health. Research the producer you are buying from- it makes a difference! For example, Quaker Oats are treated with awful chemicals that remain on the oats and make it into your body. A great alternative is Bob’s Red Mill. More expensive- but my health has drastically improved (and my dad reversed heart disease, diabetes and hypertension) since being mindful of the chemicals, pesticides and toxins foods are treated with. Natural is best- non-pasteurized. Note: this is just what I found that has helped me and many others. I hope this helps even a tiny bit that it’s not always that a certain food is “bad”, but rather, how it is produced makes it toxic

She has eaten quick cook oatmeal with blueberries, ground flax seed and sugar every single morning for at least 30 years. And lived independently in a 2 story house with the bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs until a few months ago. She was/is also what I would call a near-vegan for the last 40 years, meaning she ate meat and dairy 3-4 times a month, max. 5 years or so ago she became almost vegan, with a few ice cream cheats a month.

Resting heart rate is 44bpm, run marathons. Never once did I buy into this junk. The simple principles of eating meat, veggies, carbs & a ton of water will do it. However, when I was in an extended stay in Scotland that included our meals, we were served pinhead oatmeal everyday. There was no other source of protein, so this is what I ate. It sustained me well and I did not experience my normal reaction to oatmeal, which is a glucose drop. I was impressed so I ordered some from pinhead oatmeal online. The EU (and at that time, it included Scotland) does not allow pesticides, additives, preservatives, etc. It's America that seems to prize production over health.

Or does your condition just mean your blood sugars can drop for no reason or certain foods trigger it? I have actually collapsed several times from low blood sugar (hypos) and I know how absolutely horrible you feel. I thought I was having a stroke the first couple of times. One time I was in a boxing gym (for amateurs more fun than serious) and this new trainer came in and had us all doing HILT and wed never experienced it before and expected a gentle spar and I felt incredibly sick and I knew I was going to collapse and something was seriously wrong with me but before I could shout "I'm going to pass out" several minutes had passed and I was on the floor , they were forcing sugary snacks and drinks into me and I felt myself feeling better the more sugar I had

Oatmeal (especially steel cut) breaks down much slower in the body especially when combined with fats like flax/hemp seeds, and fiber from the berries. Very little insulin spike. It can be a part of a very healthy diet.

Unfortunately, I had to have a thyroidectomy 4 years ago. I thought my Graves Disease would go away after the thyroidectomy, but no, I had to do my own research and thankfully, from last year there's much more information about it. I went on a low carb and gluten free diet, which led me to buy gluten free oats. I still react a bit, but not as bad as before. And you're right Dr. Berg, skipping breakfast as part of intermittent fasting, it does wonders to me. I just had to stop my intermittent fasting of 17 hours, because I'm now pregnant, but still, I do manage at my 2nd trimester to have 13 hours of fasting.

Most autoimmune diseases benefit from gluten free diets. If in the beginning it's hard to cut off gluten, you can always take enzymes such as protease, cellulase and amylase as supplements. These enzymes help gluten digestion, but of course when gluten is ingested in small portions. Hope this helps :)

I'm athletic, fit and eat well but for some reason have had problems with an uncomfortable gut in the middle of the night. Perhaps it is the colloidal properties of oatmeal or it's gel like consistency once in the gut, due to the beta lucan fiber which serves to gently scrape my intestinal tract clean on a daily basis. Whatever it is, i consider oatmeal a miracle food. Although, if 95% of oats are contaminated with some Glyphosate, that could be very bad - so organic to be safe i guess? But in general, I believe oatmeal is the only food I've found so far which has improved my gut health and resulting sleep patterns so much.
