  • You should set these out in the sun for the next year and see how each one holds up.

  • I have used Sylvania and Meguiar kit before with almost same results. This year i tested out Cerakote on headlight with bad oxidation and i was surprised how it made it almost like new. The coating isn't crystalized it's wet like alcohol wipes. Out of the 3 I've tested i would recommend Cerakote because it restored the worse headlight I've ever restore to like new

  • I used the Cerakote kit and got excellent results! I would recommend this kit over all others as the cleaning wipes do the job, and the kit in the black box is their newest release.

    • I think if there's a problem with those wipes then returning the kit for another one or a refund might be wise. I will be trying Cerakote.

  • Sounds like a issue with the cerakote packaging method on wipes. I have used several over the years, never had a dried out sealer wipe but have had dried out deoxidized pouches before (they come with several so never bothered getting more) still might give the maguire a shot next time I need to do headlights on my fleet, my Armada is reaching that been a few years since last time state and lights getting a bit cloudy

    • The Turtle Wax is good for maintaining lens that have not gotten too bad. I have used a buffer in a drill with their polish to get a better finish. I think some of the sealants fill in the scratches, if you take your time and polish them out, I wonder if that will look better and perform better. I am curious if the Cerakote actually dissolves the plastic to even out the fine scratches along with filling them in.

  • So from watching multiple videos, (over 20) The turtle wax is much better than the the others . Rainex is the best fastest and cheapest. 3m is about the best. followed by meguires and cerakote. just my opinion. Otherwise just buy new ones save all the time and trouble :)

  • I don't think this test is valid!! Reason being you don't know the history of each light weather or not the lens had old factory clearcoat added or not,? Secondly headlight restoration is all about technic and not necessarily the kit!! Furthermore there are kits for heavy to light oxidation, I've seen dozens of comparisons testing, At the end of the day it's up to the individual to make up his or herself minds which to use!!!

    @keithroberts5611@keithroberts56115 ай бұрын
    • And your point? With this test: The indivudual CAN better determine which kit to use. This test is another data point in an individuals’ decision.

  • I’m not sure I can trust this review. I’ve used the 3M twice before on 2 different vehicles, and I got far way better results than from this video showed. It maybe the technique? ( he didn’t show the whole process). Or it could be the headlight lens used. Which made me think too that since he didn’t use identical headlight lens, it’s hard to compare results. I would like to use anither brand than the 3M, but needs to see a reliable review. This ain’t it. On to another review …

  • There's a million KZhead videos about this. None are useful. Most do more harm than good. Hire a professional. Get it done right the first time. With headlights costing from hundreds to thousands of dollars each, I'm not risking it. No way.

    @barrygoldwasser5449@barrygoldwasser54492 жыл бұрын
    • You seem like one of those said professionals who is trying to drum up some work for yourself. Fact is this procedure works well is inexpensive and can be done by the consumer, you just have to follow the directions and put the effort in. You dont even need the full kit, just get the chemicals and any sandpaper you don’t already have. Meguiars PlastX works. Proven widely for many years. So does wet sanding if the headlights are badly yellowed. I recommend nothing below 1000 grit, and extending it to 3000 grit. Meguiars sealant also does a great job. Nothing lasts forever, but almost anything can be fixed. Save the professionals for the hard jobs.

    • @@louisperich6678 drum up with for myself? How, exactly? Anonymously? Without promoting anything? Think again. Those consumer products are useless. Especially the ones that you coat or spray or seal a lens. No manufacturer does that. Neither should anybody else. As I said, modern headlights cost thousands of dollars each, plus tax, plus installation. Not worth the effort, hassle, time and aggravation.

    • You are certainly entitled to your own opinion, but not to your own facts. it is absolutely possible to restore headlight clarity using this type of process and products. people do it successfully every day. I have done it. my friends have done it. youtube has many examples. the list goes on. i encourage folks to take ownership of caring for and cost-effectively restoring their vehicles, especially when as you yourself point out, the alternative is to spend thousands replacing a modern headlight assembly times two. In my view, people who say otherwise are either uninformed, misinformed, had a bad personal experience so have concluded it can never work, or have a reason for folks to spend their money with professionals instead. Why don’t you try it for yourself sometime and see. I have had great results with PlastX and Meguiars headlight sealant. I have not tried Cerakote but it seems from reports that it also gives good results.

    • @@louisperich6678 again, no manufacturer does it. Neither should anyone else. Best way to destroy a polycarbonate lens is to coat it with those nonsense products.

      @barrygoldwasser5449@barrygoldwasser544910 ай бұрын
    • @@barrygoldwasser5449 Actually Barry, manufacturers DO do it. They apply a clear sealant to new headlight lens assemblies to protect against UV damage. Over time, that sealant degrades, and UV oxidation sets in. For mild cases, where oxidation is just starting to be noticed, PlastX or similar is sufficient to remove it, followed by applying a fresh clear sealant to restore UV protection. For more advanced cases, progressive sanding is required as the oxidation is too deep for simple polishing. That is the same thing professionals do to restore headlights, only with power tools: remove oxidized polycarbonate and any remnants of factory sealant, smooth out the lens surface, then reseal to add back UV protection (clean with alcohol before sealing) - should last a couple of years plus, if done properly. Simple for owners to do themselves with the basic inexpensive ingredients. No need to pay $$$$ for a “professional”. Power tools just speed completion, they are not absolutely necessary, and may in fact be over-applied if not careful. If you are having to repeat this process every couple of months, it is being done incorrectly - usually by not removing the oxidized portions and instead just (temporarily) filling in the pores of the plastic, and/or more importantly not clear sealing with UV inhibitors at the end. Either ignorance afoot, or somebody taking shortcuts. Do whatever you want Barry it’s your time and money, but I hate to see people discourage others from taking direct control of their situation and save some money. Knowledge is power. And no I don’t work for Meguiars or anyone else in the automotive industry.
