  • I don't get people trying to battle these cops. When you're in trouble with the law its very simple: cooperate, answer only short and to the point, but preferably say nothing at all, and then just call the lawyer and let them handle it. You have a right to not say anything btw as long as you cooperate you should be fine till the lawyer shows up and talks for you.

    @wirelessdirk@wirelessdirk5 ай бұрын
    • because people are stubborn. It's good to have a sense of righteousness when it comes to it being unlawful. Like if a cop is needlessly aggressive, or you literally haven't done anything wrong (a bystander to something bigger, for example, and thus being mixed up in it accidentally), it's good to hold your ground (within reason, there's never a reason for violence especially when it comes to if a cop is violent toward you as you'll likely be worse off, but that's very situation-orientated isn't it). But I agree, if you're guilty of something, just admit it and get on with your punishment since if you lie, you'll be caught anyway. also don't get the aggression? Why is the first clip screaming at people and clearly not listening? Just calm down, my god.

      @kazu9445@kazu94454 ай бұрын
    • @@kazu9445 Right or wrong, it's unlikely a cop will ever back down, so "holding your ground" will probably only escalate the situation. I was stopped and arrested once years ago because my car fit the discription of one used in a violent crime and I also happened to have a physical resemblance to the at-large suspect. At first I felt indignant at the cops' mistake, but quickly realized that they were NOT going to just let me go. So I found my zen moment and went with it cooperatively, not resisting even when they cuffed me and took me to the station. Once there, it didn't take long for them to realize they had the wrong guy. I was pissed off about it, but later realized they were just doing their job to keep the community safe and I got sucked-in by an unfortunate coincidence.

  • I know it probably wouldn't have helped, but with the last woman, I hope the cops explained as soon as they cuffed her that it was only going to be a citation and waiting for her to sober up instead of criminal charges. In a lot of these videos (I know they're edited) the cops don't explain things like that, and it's happened to me. I had a mental episode and was taken between hospitals by deputies, and they showed up with shackles like I was a criminal or was expected to be violent (I was just suicidal) and were transporting me in the prison van, and only explained after we arrived that it's a state law that they have to do it that way (which is just awful for someone in the state I was in anyway). In more than one video on this account and similar ones, the people clearly think they're about to go to prison for simple trespassing or intoxication charges and the cops don't seem to make an effort to explain what's about to happen to them.

  • I call this the "Trump Effect." People who think they can break laws and rules anytime they want. They can be abusive, obnoxious, disrespectful, throw tantrums, etc. to get their way.
