How is no one talking about, a). The committee having something against Alabama, Tua should have easily won the Heisman trophy that year, even though he barely threw in the 4th (because he’s been dominating the other three). b). Gary Danielson once again missing a blatant push/pull off by Auburn. The receiver didn't push off, he used his right hand to pull the Alabama receiver away from his position. It wasn't the hand fighting that caused the touchdown.

Well. We have seen how this played out. Tua is 6-0 against Bill Belichicks Patriots and Bill got fired from the Pats before he ever managed to beat Tua once. Stidham on the other hand, has been relocated once or twice already, and Mac Jones took his place getting beat like a red headed stepchild behind the Tagovailoa woodshed. Bama's defense was clearly fractured here in this game- the beating that would come in California would prove the Bama Dam was cracking all to pieces.
And it so devastated the program that 2 years later they won ANOTHER National Championship. The game has drastically changed since the RPO and the rules that allow linemen to get farther down field on pass plays. The days of consistently holding opponents to under 15 points a game are gone fore the foreseeable future. Alabama’s greatness is its ability to adapt and are now one the most explosive offensive juggernauts in the game.
