  • One of my favorite stories about Rocky came from Archie Moore. After his fight with Marciano, Archie was asked when he realized he was in trouble. His response was “in the first round”. The interviewer mentioned that since Archie knocked Rocky down in the first round how could he know he was in trouble? Archie said, “I hit him harder than I ever hit any man, and he got up mad”.

It taks a man to ride this bike, that's why I just sold it. Had to. My Mexican American wife Mexicali Margot made me. She's right because i only weigh a very skinny 137 pounds and have never riden a motorcycle. My nickname is Toothpick My real name is David Frost, I use all these other aliases just to make the white man mad. I also had to sell all my clothes, shoes, and my terrific collection of cigarette butts. But that's what my wife Margot wanted. And I do anything for her. She may be 86 years old, but she's toothless and gives a great bj, I can't really get it up anymore so she just kind of gums around and slobbers on it. It feels pretty good tho.

    • Maybe little white Rocky could have beaten that circus clown Jess Willard who was paraded around for 4 years without a single fight. Or maybe he could have even beat that other circus clown Primo Carnera who was daily alcoholic (like Andre the Giant) and 100% mafioso controlled. The ‘ambling alp’ was an awful boxer with gigantism or acromegaly (like Andre the Giant). He was promoted as a monster because of his size, but he was really clumsy and couldn`t punch with his full weight, he was completely exposed by Joe Louis who easily battered Primo into submission.

Did the Klitschko brothers have the luxury of fightin middleweights and light heavyweights? Does King Fury have the luxury of fightin middleweights and light heavyweights? Marciano's extra-small era was a huge contributing factor towards the "cruiserweight" division being created. There comes a point the size disparity becomes a bridge too far even for outstanding smaller boxers. Little Rocky was only 31 when he up-n "QUIT" during his prime. He only fought a measly 7 years while everyone else was fightin 20 years!!! Many heavyweights coulda retired undefeated if they'd-a "QUIT" after only 7 years!!! Had he kept fightin he woulda faced the likes of Patterson, Machen, Johansson, Folley, Liston, Jones, Clay, Terrell, Cleveland and Chuvalo just to name a few. What Marciano did to his family is unforgivable. During his retirement speech and his appearance on the Ed Sullivan show he said, "I want to spend more time with my family." That's not True. It was all a lie. He immediately abandoned his kids and wife to sleep with thousands then left them penniless--@ 1993/08/23 THE ROCK - Sports Illustrated Vault | SI

    • @@Stout_Krout_HinesburgVT6337 Little Marciano didn't win all his fights. His first fight vs. LaStarza was officially called a draw! That is until the mafioso stepped in on Rocky's behalf. We do know factually that Ross, Eatman, and Louthis took-a-dive. Was it for $$$ or were they forced to protect themselves and their families from the same folks that protected Marciano? "Amazing recovery by Eddie Ross after being KO'd by Rocky Marciano the previous day."-(word for word from BoxRec). (It was commonplace to take-dives and pad records during this era). That is correct, in less than 24 hours 170 lb Eddie Ross also fought 160 lb Billy Sparks who had 6 wins 11 losses. Ross also fought 10 amateurs with 0-0-0 debut records! These guys are middleweights fightin as Heavyweights. This division is beyond despicable. Eldridge Eatman was 22-20-5 with an abysmal 22% KO's. "Eatman proved no opposition for Marciano", according to the Providence Journal, "Marciano hit Eatman with a right in the 3rd round, and Eatman went down after that, though it didn't appear he was hit." -(Eatman obviously took-a-dive). The last 9 fights Eatman had leading up to his fight with Marciano he went 1 win 8 losses. Shamefully disturbing. Pete Louthis was 32-13-5 with an abysmal 35% KO's. Pete fought amateur Willie James with a 0-0-0 debut record only 2 fights before facing Marciano. Pete fought 10 amateurs with 0-0-0 debut records! For Pete's sake he also fought another 20 opponents that had 10 or less fights. Pete's profession was padding records. Marciano fought at least 25 different Pete's! This isn't even professional boxing. It's more reminiscent to the Jack Dempsey days when they simply walked-in and took bouts for room and board. Pugilist negotiated payments to throw matches, while others "took a dive" merely to avoid injury and pick up an easy pay cheque. I understand throwing matches also happened before Rocky's time and after Rocky's time. But the 1950s boxing era was the pinnacle for corruption and 100% monopolized. Padding records and taking dives didn't happen once a month, it was the daily norm. It factually happened and cannot ever be swept under the carpet. Remember the National Prohibition of alcohol during the 20s and 30s. Italian Kingpins like Al Capone were able to rack in $100 million each year thanks to the overwhelming business opportunity of illegal booze. The majority of extortion and loansharking criminal gangs were Italian. Lucky Luciano, Johnny Torrio, Al Capone, Vito Genovese, John Gotti, Carlo Gambino, thousands of bosses, underbosses and soldiers etc. It was all Sicilian. The day after Rocco Marchegiano retired he immediately abandoned his kids and wife to sleep with thousands. He also started his loansharking business--(psychosis and other symptoms he suffered)--@ 1993/08/23 THE ROCK - Sports Illustrated Vault | SI Marciano was killed flying to Des Moines to pick up $35 thousand. Problem was he knowingly flew during severe weather with an amateur pilot. Mr Greedy Infidel got what he deserved for what he did to his family.

Sportswriters dubbed him 'Pappy', 'elderly', 'ancient', and 'aging' were commonly used to describe Walcott. Since he was born at home and not in a hospital he could not prove his age with a birth certificate that was filed when he was born. Needless to say Walcott haphazardly created and filed a birth certificate in 1936 when he was in his mid-twenties at the Camden Bureau of Vital Statistics." *It's all there in Walcott's biography Chapter 9 page 71. If Walcott was 38 when he fought Louis in 1947 wouldn't that put him at 43 when he fought Rocky in 1952?* As flat-footed Rocky slowly shuffled towards Walcott why didn't he move to his left or right like he was previously doing? • There are few Heavyweight champions in the history of boxing that are better known for their losses than their wins. Walcott's high profile losses is what elevated his status and built up his credentials, not his wins. During his peak championship years, Walcott scored 7 wins with 5 KO's. Only one of those KO's came against a ranked fighter, that being Charles. During this time Walcott also lost 7 times and suffered 10 count KO's 3 times and a 9 count once. In total fights during this time Walcott's record was 7-7. In title fights he went 2-6 with 1 KO win and 3 KO losses. He fought 3 different men in his 8 title fights, was defeated by each of them twice, KO'd by two of them and only defeated one of them. *The fact that Walcott was granted (6) title attempts in a (5) year span speaks volumes about how weak the Heavyweight division must have been at this time. And ""Five"" of these title opportunities came immediately after a Walcott loss!!!* Had Walcott been fighting in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000's, there is no-way he would have been granted this many opportunities after losing so-many title attempts. Walcott scored 32 KO's in 70 fights. The only two ranked fighters Walcott ever KO'd was an off the floor 10th round win over Curtis Sheppard and the lightning in the bottle KO of Ezzard Charles. In his overall career Walcott had a 49-20-1 record and was KO'd 6 times. Based on these less than impressive stats it is difficult to consider him anymore than a good Journeyman. Walcott should at best be remembered not as a great Heavyweight champion, but a good *C-LEVEL* Journeyman. *If a fighter today had ((20)) losses he'd be considered F-LEVEL all day every day. Lennox only lost twice and his top-10 ranking has suffered ever since, yet Walcott continuously gets praised and glorified,, for what? Beating a tiny low-power 182 lb Heavyweight paper-champ* (Charles) *who 'Admitted' having ALS symptoms vs. Walcott in 1951.* Charles said, *"I didn't seem to be able to get away,"* he recalled, *"I didn't have the same coordination."*

His only respectable win came against Middleweight turned Light heavyweight Charles who factually had Lou Gehrig's disease when they fought in 1951. Walcott lost to Middleweights Mays ,, Palmer ,, Ketchell ,, AND Light heavyweights Charles "twice" ,, Fox "twice" ,, Maxim ,, Brothers ,, and Taylor. *Would C-LEVEL Journeyman Joe be a Great Heavyweight today? Why are they getting praised for 68 losses? Bcz they fought (god) Rocky. Tyson lost to Buster Douglas and catches hell. Ali lost to Frazier and catches hell. Bowe lost to Holyfield and catches hell. Liston lost to Marty Marshall and catches hell. Lennox lost twice and catches hell. But Walcott Charles Moore losses 68 times and only catches Praise. Doesn't make sense. Or does it? Of course it makes sense, it's called two-faced biased double standard. Combined, Walcott Charles Moore lost (68) times and were KO'd (20) times. Had little Rocky never existed nobody would even be talkin bout Walcott Charles Moore. Truth is Marciano fans could careless about Walcott Charles Moore otherwise they would never denigrate and belittle other black fighters such as Liston Holmes Tyson. I've studied Marciano extensively and it just dawned on me that is exactly what's happening. Rocky fans always besmirch black fighters EXCEPT for Walcott Charles Moore. I've witnessed it hundreds of times, pure Hate for Liston Holmes Tyson, yet pure Love for Walcott Charles Moore.

That man's pace was brutal he just kept coming and throwing, he had no regard for his own body...he just left it out there dangling daring fighters to hit him with everything ask jersey Joe...he made the comment that the man is so easy to hit but what Joe didn't realize was it didn't matter what you hit him with he just kept coming and training boxing 83 rounds is crazy ....he was prepared for a marathon in every single fight ...round 13 when the man is standing in the middle of the ring waiting for you after taking round after round of punishment is crazy ....the man was made out of iron...his style was simple alot of fighters today would have loved the fact that you could hit him with ease but after round 10 they all would have Been gassed and left wondering what they have to do to slow him down, wondering how they could keep him off them ....he battered fighters body,head,arms...after 10 rounds of getting your body smacked, arms beat on ,head knocked around fighters today wouldn't know how to handle that kind of style ....pure bruising style, hit you anywhere he could...just inflict damage all over a fighter...thats something fighters never experienced until they fought rounds with rocky ....he use to like punching fighters in the elbows why?because as the rounds went on it became harder to hold ur arms up,throw punches then you where a sitting duck

So, technically, the best Ali footage we've seen was probably just a good version of his best. It would be a decision, but Ali could throw punches from all angles, so he would dance, slip, and counter all fight. Taking nothing from Rock though, he's one of the best ever. Those dudes could get SMALL, and with head and body movement, be REALLY hard to hit. Also, being shorter, they probably had a neck-strength advantage/leverage advantage, which they now say a few extra pounds of strength in the neck gives huge protection from concussion. Your head just doesn't move as much when you get hit. Maybe there's something to the technique, where the only angles you're giving up are angles that aren't going to torque your head. Then why is Walcott Charles Moore considered ATG's?? Had little Rocky never existed Nobody would be talking about Walcott Charles Moore!!! Truth is Marciano fans could careless about Walcott Charles Moore otherwise they would never denigrate Ali Liston Holmes Tyson Wilder etc. It's all about skin color. I've studied Marciano extensively for 8 months and it just dawned on me that this is exactly what's happening. Rocky fans always besmirch and belittle black fighters EXCEPT for Walcott Charles Moore. I've witnessed it hundreds of times, pure Hate for Liston Holmes Tyson yet pure Love for Walcott Charles Moore.

Can't knock the Rock for beating everyone who came around during his time, but he certainly was in the right place at the right time. Had he been born ten years later, he would have fought the likes of Floyd Patterson, Sonny Liston, Cassius Clay/Muhammad Ali, Oscar Bonavena and George Chuvalo. Had Marciano fought and prevailed over these fighters, he would indeed be the greatest.

His record is un-parelled 49-0. The fact he fought almost every month & managed the accumulate that amount of bouts in such a short amount of time is incredible. I went to the U.S.A. to Brockton, to see his gym at the YMCA, James Edgar playing fields across the street from his family home, saw the plaque commerating his achievements. Must be something in the water there, as Marvelous Marvin Hagler hailed from that town too. Brockton 2 for 2 for me! Rocky was a boxing hero for me & I named my son Rocco in his honour. I see Rocky's unassailing determination in my son as he grows, he can punch like a pro already, even though he is not going to tread the canvas, he has Rocky's confidence & pugnacious attitude in all he pursues!
