  • Great video, highlighting a problem I have been shielded from for many years because of my size. Coming up with an idea, then building that idea are the two most challenging parts of creating redstone content. These people (there's plenty more as well) bypass both these painstaking parts of the process. It's almost impossible to compete with KZhead channels that do this, as they can put out 5-6 seemingly original pieces of content per week that their unknowing fans eat up. As I say, I am privileged that I don't face this problem often, with only the boldest stealing my work, but my heart always goes out to the small/mid size KZheadrs who are getting their content taken left and right. I may end up making a video on this topic myself.

Seeing Mumbo complimenting Purple’s work, actively encouraging his audience to check out his channel and even going as far as to say he might not have been able to do it himself just warmed my heart and made me feel like I was floating on a cloud :), it’s no surprise that they all unite when these asshole thieves come in!

  • As a person who barely knows how Redstone works, it feels demoralising knowing that the tutorial of a contraption that has helped me was actually stolen from someone else. And with the massive amount of channels and videos, it is difficult to see who posted what first, and who deserves the real credit. Thank you for exposing some of these people, hopefully you and the rest of content creators will receive their proper credit in the future.

    • The Shulkercraft apologists like yourself are hilarious. "Yeah they're still stealing other people's work, but they seem really sorry! Also they're giving credit!" It doesn't matter. If the original design creator say "Don't steal my work and re-upload your own tutorial" then don't do it. There have also been instances where Shulkercraft has took someone else's build, uploaded their own "tutorial" for it, and ended up actually nerfing the build they stole because they didn't understand every aspect of the build.

I spent about 7 hours as a kid making an exit and entry floor piston door, and about 10 hours as a teenager making a circular floor vault door. Both of them were extremely fun to make, but that barely scratches the surface of the countless hours redstone engineers put into their builds. • Something pretty funny actually happened to me on one of Steveee's videos a very long time ago. I remember it was something like "how to draw in Minecraft" or something, using the power of the good ol' Command Blocks. It was a very very simple design, but Steveee pretty much "brute-forced" through the whole thing without any explanations on the purpose and functions of each Command (I can see how suspicious this can be now that I think about it). Seeing this, I was worried that potential beginners might not be able to understand what exactly is happening in this design and forced to copy and paste the whole thing without learning anything. I believe that it would be more beneficial and fun for these beginners to actually understand the design. Therefore, I left a comment providing a full explanation of how everything works in this design and what purpose does each Command serves just so people can enjoy what's shown in the video themselves as well and possibly create their own designs using what they have learned from this. Well guess what. My comment was deleted not long after it was written. Like, I am not even trying to call him out because I am someone who you would call "lives under a rock" and I have no idea if he stole this design from elsewhere or not. At that time I was just confused. Confused about why he would delete such a comment that can benefit the viewers more, making this video of his more valuable than before. This confusion of course led to my suspicion that something fishy might be going on here. But I decided to just let it go since I got nothing against him. I forgot all about it not long after. Now? It's all coming together now. It was indeed a stolen design, and he was afraid of being called out by someone who actually understands the design (even though I have no idea that he stole this design from elsewhere lol).

As someone trying redstone as a novice it is a fun concept to make something you design or taking inspiration work for a build - something I do hope to share here one day, so it's good to be aware to be vigilant when crediting creators. It never takes long to credit people or at least if you don't know who just mentioned the original creator of the design is better than nothing. Thank you Purpledragonnuke for making us aware of the ongoing problem and helping creators be aware to be vigilant on the ongoing issue.

  • I feel kind of vindicated that when I take a redstone creation and replicate it in one of my worlds, there's always a sign near the most accessible redstone components (or outright in front of the demo build in my SMP lag tester world) that actually says whose tutorial I followed, if I modified it (I note down what I had to tweak, usually it's adding delays or space restrictions), and if hybridized I have both designs' creators on the sign(s) (and any official name the systems' creators gave them). That way at worst, all I have to do to remember where it's from is to open my old test world or go into the "repair hatch" and find the note I left myself, because I don't always remember who first posted a design. (and sometimes I have a "made b X and popularized by Y" sign, when someone credited another's design and made a tutorial on it from schematics I can't understand)

  • Great video, these people need to be publicly shamed, although for ShulkerCraft and Bblocks, the reason they only listed 1 of the creators was because they simply did not know that there was 2 creators. Its not that they are bad people they just simply thought that only 1 person had created it,

  • Great video! And to think this only scratches the surface of a much larger problem on KZhead... There's also not much creators can do about it at the moment, as "copyrighting" redstone contraptions isn't really a thing, and in a lot of the videos redstone KZheadrs post it's either explained how to build, or there's a world download made available. Oh, and quick edit: I've probably had my fair share of stuff stolen, but never on as large a scale as is the norm now. Seeing creators like Shulkercraft and Steveee racking up _millions_ of views and subscribers off the backs of hard-working creators breaks my heart.

Because of this you have no legal right and so youtube won’t give a shit. The only one who can copyright anything is Mojang as it is their game, and anything made in the game is there’s.

Normally they always credit the creators, and this one since there was multiple, one who was barely mentioned from the channel they got it from, it was very easy for it to slip through. It definitely has a huge impact on the stolen people. Take Ilmango, who makes a living out of his KZhead channel, and who chose to drastically reduce his audience by reducing the amount of content he chooses to share... People don't know enough the impact that stealing has on small content creators...

    • I think what happens often is these smaller redstoners who make the original builds don't always have the best editing to make building these contraptions clear. Of course this doesn't apply to everything but typically these larger channels make instructions in higher quality. Part of the reason I like shulkercraft so much is that they make most of their guides on making farms easier to follow than most other creators.
