You either hate it, or you hate it more. Clan Wars 2 to most players is just a reminder of the negative side of Clash Royale. Although there is room to argue it's better than Clan Wars I, the events leading up to this update and the release of it were enough to bring out the worst in the player base.

@@arealhumanbean3058 long story short they made it more pay to win by nerfing pass royale and on top of that made it more expensive. They also made it so you can no longer earn chests from 2v2 and party game modes.

I liked how Clan Wars 1 told us to use our skills with the cards we were given, rather than using the popular decks. All we really wanted was better rewards for our troubles in Clan Wars 1, and instead we got a uneccessary makeover after waiting for literal seasons. We better get a Clan Wars 3 going back to its original routes and even more!

CW3 prolly be the 2023 MAJOR UPDATE. 2022 was Path of Legends. 2021 was Level 14 and Champions.
All they need to do is bring back hard level caps by league. Also return all game modes like 2v2 and tournament standard (Draft, Mirror, Classic Decks).

As a mostly free to play player who played a bit on launch but only started playing again in 2021 and not knowing how generous the old quest and clan war systems were and finding out is really disappointing as I find it a big struggle to advance and keep up with other players and the meta
Game was better before Level 14 and Champions. You could max out a new account in 3 years. Now it's 6 years and that's assuming you ain't got a life.

@@thehijabiinblack3892It's all by design init? Magic Items and tokens let you max out decks as a Level 10/11. Easily fixed level capping cards to King Level, but they know this IMBALANCE creates the pull and emotion.

Try it. Supercell have made a lot of mistakes over the years but imo it is easier to get into the game than ever because of all the new updates
Today, it takes a new player 6 years to max out compared to 3 years pre-Level 14 and Champions (assuming you got no life outside of this game too). Besides that, Gratz is a on his way to becoming a legendary content creator spotlighting these rapacious dev decisions.

Interesting, I don’t think I could watch clash videos if I were a nonplayer. I wouldn’t know what’s going on, imo it’s not a simple and intuitive game that can be fun to watch like soccer even if you don’t play it.

that was the tipping point for my patience towards CR II left. The clan that I invested years in kicked me out because I wasnt leveled up enough. It was a slap in the face since I was originally the vice guild master, demoted and then made a mere member, replaced by a new player who had level 13 cards

Being able to play draft with tournament standard card levels on collection days in cw1 was under appreciated af. Then playing a mix-match deck all my clan mates also had to play for the war day was so much more lighthearted and enjoyable than 16 1v1s a week with only 4 different decks. Edit: Also the shared set of cards to make the battle day deck and the team contribution going towards levels for battle day made for a more involved clan experience - more like you were a team not a group of 1v1 players.
I remember all the clan sharing their decks with the cards we had available to help the newer players have an idea of some decent decks to use

imo it helped you improve so much too, you wanted to use the highest lvl ones and out of those had to figure out a good synergy and learn how to play all the cards there pretty well
I came back to Clash Royale a few months ago because of your videos. I then joined a random clan and did war battles. I hated it alot because my cards were very underleveled and barely had any gold. But now I have slight better cards but I still hate the match making. Can't go in a match without facing a maxed out guy with lv 14 Elite Barbs and have nothing powerful enough to counter it. I even asked my clanmates and they said the same. Wish they could add a level cap or something.
SC wants the imbalance to encourage spending to level up because they made progression a 6-12 year model depending how active you play. Magic Items, trade tokens, Level 14, IMBALANCE CHANGES, RPS are all embedded into the game to create all these imbalances. That's also why they removed level caps in Clan Wars.
Honestly, while Supercell is quite a greedy company, they genuinely care about their community and they know they made a banger PvP game they would be foolish to kill. They are also being kinder to newer and F2P players, which is never a bad thing.
@@dashingclasher CR defo the best mobile game to ever come out imo. SC, unfortunately, have continued to act in bad faith more and more. Improving the F2P and casual experience is a MYTH, a LIE. Couple years ago, you could completely max out in 3 years. Now it's double that. PoL forced more grinding and playtime just like CW2. Everything is orchestrated to spend more time in the game in order to receive the same rewards as before so they are driving your time and effort. The vast majority don't realize this.
@@FLYNTL Well, yeah, but most players don't care about fully maxing out. To a good amount of people, making out means having a few decks at level 14 that they enjoy playing, and that has gotten easier. I think the primary target is the enjoyment of the player, and I think that's gotten better and worse, but Supercell is definitely taking steps. They definitely do have their faults, but I think their intentions are (usually) in good heart.
Use cards that arent that dependent on their level like skelly army or inferno tower/dragon

2021 was a terrible year. Level 14 and Champs DOUBLED THE GRIND for new players from 3 to 6 years (and that's assuming you ain't got a life).

@@ZiggyNext if u check the clash Royale comments in early 2021 it was filled with “maxed” out players complaining for updates regarding to them, supercell delivered by giving them champions and level 14, a reason to grind and play the game again like they asked.
@@zuri1379 OG player myself working on piling up CC badges now. Game was in its best state in 2021 before Lvl 14 and Champs. Progression from 0 to 100 took under 3 yrs. Party Modes and 2v2 were front and center. Would hate being a new player post-2021 because of the 5-12 yr progression model without spending money and the RPS/imbalance is the worst it's ever been.

Lot of the OG players left around the CW2 especially on the subreddit. If only they knew about Level 14, Champions and Slash Royale. Would further validate their decision. Now, SC has a new generation of players that are unaware about the history and how players are just cash cows to be milked every few years until they realize they've been properly hosed.

I liked clan wars 1 because it helped a lot to become better in the game. It improved the deck building skills, and I think I was generally more fun to play using different decks aganis different decks. Of course it had some issues too. For example if a clan member did not go for war day it was detramental if he did collection day because they were counted towards the war day participants what was a factor of clan matchmaking. And it was not explained in game, so you always have to repeat that to your clan. And if sombady was losing a lot of war day it could felt like thay are not adding a lot. With the new point system it feels like everyone is helping as long as they participate, but I don't like the war deck mechanics, because it encuarges using the same 4 deck in every war, so it got boring really fast for me.
The only beef I had with clan wars is their refusal to set it up to tournament standards. It's true that you get a reward just for playing (even if you lose), but no one wants to voluntarily get their ass kicked by a lvl14 hog rider just so they could get medals to help their clan.

We need a history of every clash royale meta since launch in 2016 to now in 2022
Clan wars 1 had such a competitive element to it. You had 2 chances. The new one just feels like another ladder, there’s not enough on the line per battle.
As a developer, usually engine work gets delayed until there's no other options than an overhaul. For example if you have really bad backend code structure and adding something simple like golden colored names takes a week, that's probably really bad. If for example reworking it takes a month, but the feature takes a week, a company might choose for the fast and easy option most of the times, until it becomes cost-effective to do the other thing instead (for example if a feature takes 3 months and the overhaul costs 3 as well which makes the feature easier to implement).
It can't be THAT bad to take 1 week just for golden names. You either need a spaggetti code, suck optimisation, or being left without internet.
@@edipedipbulmaz I mean... there's only specific cases where a name should be golden, so there's more to it than simply "make it gold". Depending on your code that could be easy or hard to implement

It is very impressive how quickly you upload 20-30 minute videos that are extremely entertaining. Mainly due to the constant editing that makes these videos very engaging. I like KZheadrs like you, that prove that anyone can rise to the top of KZhead, with just a video editor. (not to overshadow your editing skills, because it is very impressive) You will probably be the top Clash Royale KZheadr very soon.
Best part is tackling the controversial issues and calling out the devs. Only Ash used to do this. That's called authenticity and genuinity. Call a spade a spade.
this was the update that full on made me stop, and due to updates (especially champions) I have no craving to go back to the game. I have nostalgia for this game, but my memory of it is foggy. Last year of middle school till the last year of high school. It will remain near and dear to me only as a memory.

@@punishedtubnub4762 Banners and the magic item that upgrades cards to your king lvl for a short time: this was a cool att in the first look, but they fucked up the rewards in the free entry challenges, which make them reduced by half of what was to be. However, supercell fixed it and now the gold rewards are the same they used to be (i am just saying this because they fixed and now things are ok) Champions: when they released they were only used and lvl 14 plus u didnt had any way of winning them besides real money Lvl 14: basically added up a lvl that made the game way more p2w => for example for common cards: -when the max lvl were lvl 13, u needed a amount around 8500 cards -now with max lvl being lvl 14, u need a amount around 12000 cards Cw2: pretty shit because of system level and the time you need to grind to legendary legue in boat What about u, what do u think of it?
@@joaopedrodasilva7049 Lvl14 did not in any way make the game more pay to win. If you were already maxed before it came out you would have no issue with maxing your main deck. And CW2 is the best way to get gold in the entire game. And not getting in legendary league is a skill issue not a game problem

“People were actually getting hyped for balance changes”This really made me think about the game i play where literally the only hype for it anymore is it’s third month balance patches.
I think the main issue I had with clan wars 2 was the fact they removed quests. Over the last 2 years supercell has consistently done every possible thing to completely kill the lvl 1 trophy pushing community. I had a lvl 1 acc over 5k trophies and now they are literally impossible to do. You can't get over arena 1 so your always fighting bots. You also cant get any cards besides arena 1 cards. Clan wars 2 was the first major step towards getting rid of the lvl 1 accs by removed the free legendary we could get. The next step they took was locking pass royale till like lvl 5.
The update made me quit for 2 years lol. After I came back my clan was long dead 😔

This update is the many reasons as to WHY I stopped playing royale in support of brawlstars. Just the fact that when they added the new category of cards into the game that really felt unexpected instead of creating or opening a community of people who were able to help create new cards (IE Brawlstars Skin design community) it really made the game feel more bland and less enjoyable. Especially with the unexpected balance updates that made cards super broken or balance that really felt as if it didn’t matter in the meta format Also the fact that as you stated, the removal of chests and ways to get rewards really killed it for me Nice explanation of the whole era of royale

At some point in the timeline they made huge changes (replacements) in the dev team due to the bad updates which was very crucial for CR to have somewhat good updates

The only thing I would want for CW2 is a way to opt out of it. It’s an absolute chore, and when I went all in for it, I experienced so much clash royale burnout that I stopped playing for months and only just recently got back into playing the game.

I remember playing this game in elementary school 2017 and going crazy when I got the ice wizard as my first legendary out of a free chest. I miss the simpler days of this game.
I only started playing this game regularly this summer, event tho i created my account when the game launched global. I don't like it nor play it that much, but your videos are just amazing. Ya clan wars 2 was really something when it came out, I still don't play war honestly and half the clan doesn't either, maybe a battle or two when I'm bored but that's about it. I do think the game is in a better state now, even with the balanced monk to an extent and the red eagle

Removal of quests were pretty much a big middle finger to f2p players who just wants to progress and have fun. Ah yes, they did the similar thing with lvl 14 too.
Im so happy they recovered after that mess. Since the champions update the game is alive and actually fun again.

I’d argue that the September 2018 update was worse. That’s what made every card feel the same (with the new level system) and it made it so everyone started to overlevel.
This is a good video but a couple things off/missing. Seth was not a community manager, he was a game designer. The fact that both Seth and Drew left Clash Royale shortly after CW2 suggests to me that management wanted new faces behind the game. The CEO of Supercell also referenced the CW2 controversies in his blog post the following February. Drew had made a lengthy post outlining many possible solutions to ALL player complaints. More than two years later priorities have shifted and it looks like many those solutions will never get implemented. In addition, CMs have stated several times that they don’t have CW on the roadmap. So the game’s most hated feature is just left there stuck in its current state.

i played clash royale a little bit during this time. i wasnt at a high enough level for clan wars 1, so i didnt have anything to compare when i played clan wars 2. i wasnt huge on it, and i knew everyone hated it, but i didnt know exactly why. i appreciate this video because of that :) i dont play anymore but im glad to see its doing better! something that stuck out to me though, and this is just me going on a little tangent, is drew making a comment about how "according to [insert online community], the game has been dead for x years." i follow the development of brawl stars kind of closely, and that stuck out to me because frank has said the same thing at least once. i dont know if that means anything-its just an interesting thing i picked up on.

It’s clearly to make more money. This game is totally pay to win since that update. It basically required you to have 32 cards maxed or high level if you want to perform well in clan wars matches and since that is really hard to do if you’re f2p you’re basically rewarded if you pay
