Right now a hammer jam event is going on for preparation of town hall 15 launch. Slash royale isn't a new idea, it's been done before successfully for 3 years in CoC. Difference being maybe CR team is bad at math lol
As an f2p player i remember this update hurt really bad because thanks to slash royal more then half my cards were finally maxed after years. Now i only have 2 level 14 cards almost a year later and a ton of level 13s with barely any spare cards on them. Even after they fixed it with the refund i still had nothing(new edit 2/15/23 this comment went crazy and now its been four months my deck is have maxed and know there adding level 15 this game pisses me off)
they want you to spend all of your resources so you would have to grind more

The biggest scam is still actively occurring in the game and that is balance changes. New card gets introduced and it’s awful then receives a huge buff a couple days later. If you want to push ladder you have to have that card, forcing top players to shell out hundreds to max out a singular card just for it to be nerfed a month later. This happens with dormant cards to most recently barb hur more than likely forcing people to spend their resources/money on it

other way around. supercell makes it very op and sell it in the shop for real money and then nerf the card after everyone has bought it to make the game playable

That is why you never chase the meta, always pick old cards/decks which are considered balanced. Hog cycle is one example, there will never be a moment in the future where it is nerfed, similarly Lumberloon is a combo which will never get nerfed, infact balloon and rage rework made it godly.
They want everyone to want the new card. Also, Idk what it is about the newest cards, but they've been difficult to get.
I'm one of the players that stop playing because of this update, for me the idea behind leval 14 is keep the player that are already max out keep paying, the other fear is this became something that could happen again and again.

I’m a f2p player but I actually really enjoyed this update, apparently I’m alone. I was very close to becoming lvl 13 before this came and slash royale allowed me to get to maxed lvl and the addition of 14 made my main deck almost instantly lvl 14 as well. This had the desired effect for me, I got a massive boost in progress and was able to catch up to becoming a maxed player. This was like 9.5/10 update for me.

That’s what fucked up the game, It used to be a grind, like a huge grind to get max level, and the good players who had been playing since beta had the advantage which is how it should be. I spent 6 years straight playing that game since beta and that update made it possible for people who were 3 years in to max out their decks and level 9 players got ahold of the golden cards. then they took away my badges and it looks like i’m a basic player. I used to have the rarest badge in the game, which was the beta tester badge, which is now gone. I feel like I got scammed with that

I was very active in the game/reddit around this time, and youve nailed it lad. Was fuming when they announced level 14 as I had spent all my gold upgrading cards to lvl 13, and where I was on ladder it meant that I dropped quite a few trophies as I couldnt upgrade to lvl 14 to compete. Awesome vid man!
Unless your bad at the game, a single level difference on some cards shouldn't be that big of a problem.
The difference is percentage based my bro. The difference between a 10% increase at low numbers (20 dps to 22) vs high number (100 dps to 110) is all the more significant

Lets be honest. In the end the goal of every developer is to get you to spend as much money as possible. So for me Level 14 was mostly a Cash grab. The matchmaking which causes people to loose because they dont have their Deck fully maxed out 3 days after the Update.

I loved this update because when the level 14 rolled out I was level 12 but the update bugged out and made me level 14 and put all my level 13 cards to level 13 and maxed out so I just had to spend the gold to get them to 14, they soon fixed the fact that my account was level 14 but didn’t change my cards back so I had a full deck of level 14 as soon as the update came out

You did a great job with this video, and it's clear that supercell wants nothing but your money. You can still be harsh to them, because I was one of those people upgrading everything and I wasn't maxed out on everything. I was maxed on 16 cards and it ass already hard leveling up when all you buy is the pass every month. Yes, I felt cheated and scammed and they really haven't done much as in giving back. I'm working hard to max out all my cards and at this rate it will take another year. Supercell does a great job of bringing in the money for themselves. Nice work again, and thanks for the video. I think they could have done more, because this long term plan of theirs isn't working for us customers.

The main purpose of slash Royale was to allow under leveled players to catch up to higher level players so there wouldn’t be as much of a level gap so then when lvl 14 came, under leveled players wouldn’t be just as under leveled as they were before

Nope. The issue was, MOST PLAYERS were upgrading lower level cards, trying to get them to Level 13. So when Level 14 came out, Most Players had no gold or items left to upgrade. Supercell should've communicated better, no one saw Level 14 coming.

I used to play daily but pretty much quit after this update. It took me many years to 1. Find a deck I like and 2. Upgrade that deck to level 12. When slash started I upgraded some cards to level 13 for the first time and was optimistic about no longer having to face overleveled players, only to be put right back where I started. Additionally, me being king lvl 14, I only get paired with maxed players while I have level 12 cards, its not fun …

At this point i think the best way to save the game is to start fully reworking very unpopular/bad cards cause making new cards at this point is not a very good idea and new quests/challenges will stop working after some time

I mean, I think that they should have told people the day of slash royale that they were making TH 14, but I can accept it as an honest mistake to delay it until day 4. I think that they did pretty good at accommodating in the end by refunding (which we deserved) and the next 200k event (which was a nice bonus to apologize). I also think that the masteries also accommodated. I don't think this was malicious at all, they could have given us nothing at all (kinda like brawl stars did)

It's so hard to get back into clash Royale once you're out a season. I tried getting back into it and my cards were all behind level and all these new cards I didn't have were being played so it made it harder to win.

I started playing the game last summer of last year so I was around lvl 8 when the slash event happened, the event put me up to 11 and then the update moved me close to 12. So basically I was one of the only players who benefited from this
Tbh i feel the update helped a Lot to the new playyers, but maxed accounts and 12 accounts we're very harmed with this update

It did hurt me a bit cause up until slash royale, I was pretty free to play, only bought the 1 season. I have as well played since global and I felt really good knowing even I made to legendary even with underleveled cards. Then more arenas got made and hog mountain was no longer legendary but I quickly made it back up. Personally, as much as it sucked, it didn't bother me too much since I really did only upgrade the cards I use and then again once we was refunded everything back so I was pretty well off Edit - ok so what's yall thoughts on lvl 15? Personally I wouldn't mind it since I still only up the cards I use but I can see why it would be very bad if not added carefully

But then again, I've been playing the game since the beginning and have literally only spent $5 on the first season pass. So I'm not sure who's worse here lol

I spent my 300000 gold that I have been saving for 2 years on meaningless upgrades just for the exp... Not that it matters now since I have 7000000 gold and 2500 gems because of masteries, but it was such a scam
This is my new favorite Clash Royale channel
with lvl 15 being confirmed I hope they dont readjust the cards needed for the other levels but still do a slash royale as players will know to save gold to max out their main deck but still be able to not have to worry about upgrading other cards and losing cards/gold.

Tbh, I think they were trying to hype up the new update, and get people to be interested in the game before lv 14 and champions. It could have been a bit of a trick to get people to not instantly get to lv 14 with magic items, but I think if that was true they would have waited until after slash Royale, and not only 30% into it. Not to mention, it was only a couple fancy statistics people that figured out that it looses you resources to upgrade cards, they just spread it through the rest of the community through Reddit. It would not surprised if this was just a minor oversight.

I think supercell just made an oopsie or a bit miscalculation about slash royale. I stopped playing in 2017 but I came back a month before the event with the majority of my cards at lvl 8. And honestly this event really help me catch up. But still, I think they should have made this event after officially drop level 14 alongside with champions.
As a f2p player who played from the soft launch to about Clan Wars 1 who then picked the game back up in summer of 2022, all the changes overwhelmed me. Champion cards were fine and all and I didn’t really mind Clan Wars 2 besides the fact you can’t opt out and the matchmaking problems. However level 14 made the ladder virtually unplayable for me as someone with primarily level 12 cards. My “max” zap was no longer killing maxed goblins for example. Clan Wars really didn’t help me out with this imbalance either since some of my decks would have level 10 and 11 cards. About two weeks ago I quit again due to the lack of cards and especially gold due to me not playing Slash Royale. Glad other people despise level 14 as well even for different reasons.

Yeah, this makes sense but really it comes down to the level 14 itself being the problem. Leave _Slash Royale_ alone! Now, if they actually REPEAT the event this year, I think the community will seriously forgive them and be thankful… as long as it doesn’t come with another level. Don’t add another (final) level 15 before a long, long time, please. It would be MATHEMATICALLY nice for every card rarity to work in increments of 3, and the max level + tournament standard would both be divisible by 3… plus there would be 15 levels and 15 arenas, kinda like the 13 from the past. They’ll probably have champions start at 12 (so everything about champions would just move up by 1)… but please, not before a long time. Keep giving us home without taking it away from us!

I quit playing the game because it just felt like there was too much I needed to do. Everytime I hit a new trophy count or arena, the meta changed and I had to try to upgrade new cards or make entirely different decks with underleveled cards. The slash royal event got me back into the game because I could finally have a bunch of cards at the proper level instead of only one deck that would become bad as soon I moved up the ladder. I know a lot of people got scammed, but for people like me, we finally got to have a decent selection of cards and play new decks without getting crushed by cards higher levels than ours
The only thing That really pissed me off about Level 14 was: I already had everything on Level 13, resulting in a grind for all cards with almost nothing in return 🤷🏻♂️ But I am maxed out again and waiting for level 15 XD
