It's sad how much Valencia have fallen from grace - all due to terrible management by the owner (Peter LAME). To think Valencia CF was once in the position of Atletico de Madrid today - a serious rival to Real Madrid and Barcelona and hence 1st place contender. Now, after becoming nearly bankrupted financially, they sold half of their players. I expect Valencia will finish somewhere in the mid-table this season, and can only hope they can avoid relegation.

17/18 and 18/19 Valencia finished top 4 again they were so good even the past couple of seasons, but now they are in a horrendous situation, hell they even sold Kondogbia

i never said anything about being from the same city. Elche and Hércules are from different cities too (Elche and Alicante), as well as Sporting-Oviedo (Gijón and Oviedo), or even Cádiz-Xerez. I mean there are many more derbies with much more history, passion and relevance in Spain than Valencia-Villarreal.
Agreed. Valencia-Levante is a better rivalry if you ask me. This "derby" feels manufactured simply because Villarreal have ascended to the top flight and done well.

I'm from Valencia and I can say the rivalry has improved over the past few years, but 15 years ago did not exist so it's very far to be a classic derby like others in Spain and Europe/World, there's not even the "hate to death" thing in the majority of Valencia fans, so at the moment it's more like a big brother vs little brother than a real derby.
