  • I grew up with Benny The Jet Urquidez. I knew his whole family. Six brothers all black belts and and black belt sister who could fight just like Benny.

    • I have to disagree with this one as far as on a different level compared to the elite mma fighters of today and I was one of them fighting in the PKA as well as the WKA. Of course, Benny and Billy would still be a world champ level today for sure but I am saying in general. Still, even today they still don't understand elite cardio and you see glycogen drained out of the arms and the legs to keep the heart working properly. It really took being an endurance distance racing cyclist (100's of 100+ mile races road and mountain) many years after my fighting days to understand fully what Bruce Lee taught about cardio. I stilled trained fighters for many years so I made them wear heart rate monitors and put them in the ring with me in light contact with no round bells just continuous to see what happened. They really had to feel what I have said above to really understand true cardio. We are talking like 20-30 min. at a time continuously. Then they had to understand that it also takes years to get truly incredible heart cardio to "go the distance." Anyway, you can see the phenomenon of what I am talking about glycogen depletion in arms+legs in fighters of old as well as still fighters of today but in the elite UFC fighters it has gotten better over the last 30+ years.

    • @@geu6270 benny is a beast though you cant deny that, I think he could hold his own in a ufc environment easily, look at his record it's ridiculous. You are right though todays fighters are not without skill it's just rare to see someone fight at his level you still can see it every now and then in people like anderson silva but even then benny's record man but that may just be because today's fighters in general are more skilled so getting a win loss ratio like that is so much harder to accomplish now. Also I just like his fighting style of fighting on par with someone round after round to all of a sudden become super saiyan and just destroy his opponent.

  • Billye "Jack" Jackson retired from professional kickboxing with a 22-2 record. But he was also a dominant fighter on the tournament point karate tournaments. Back when I was a teenager in the late 70's - early 80's I had the privilege of seeing him fight a few times. He was such a force o be reckoned with and everything that he threw (kicks and punches) had so much power. He was such a no mercy no non-sense fighter.

  • I had the privilege of seeing the fight life, Benny lost, end of story.Benny claimed the fight been promoted as an exhibition fight but I don't remember that being said. I am a HUGE fan of Benny, but he lost, it was a brutal fight, Billy was better, stronger and much more aggressive, and hurt Benny a couple of times, not to mention that damaging knock down, which was clean. That flurry that Benny threw at the end was good, but not good enough to get the decision. They should have fought again.

    • Seems like Billye's gameplan was "sidekick haymaker haymaker haymaker clinch headbutt, rinse repeat." He definitely lost his composure starting in the second round, and from most of his other fights you can tell he is used to using his natural athleticism to bully opponents. That didn't happen here, and 2nd and 3rd rounds it's visible that's he's really swinging for the fences.

      @deuceohnegative@deuceohnegative3 жыл бұрын
    • Absolutely, Benny lost at 100%, he has won just the first round. In fact there is lot of champs who don't accept lost. An other one is Peter "Sugar foot" Cunningham, this one lost his title at Paris, France against "King" Richard Sylla, 1986, and he has never recognize the decision. The worst of all is that on their story on internet, they rewrote the history other way. What a shame.

The crowd was already there and the promoter was going to get screwed so Benny reluctantly agreed. Benny was dominating him in be final round anyway. • Great fight!! I don't know how scoring was done back then, but I do know it's weighted heavily towards kicking and Billye didn't want low leg kicks in the fight which was not unusual in American Kickboxing matches, which is disappointing as a whole for American Kickboxing. Regardless, using common MMA scoring now a days it was a close fight. Benny won rds 1-2, 3 was a toss-up, Billye won 4-5, possible 10-8 in Rd 4 (Benny was rocked a couple of times, one being a "knockdown" because hand touched mat, I don't believe his actual butt did as alluded to by other commenters) and Benny won rds 6 and 7 and left Billye dazed. I don't know if this is true, but I read in the comments that Billye was fighting with smaller ounce gloves, if this was the case then the fight should be ruled a no-contest, it changes the whole fight dynamics & damage and should he have never been allowed as a sanctioned fight. I don't know why Benny would have turned down any future fights with Billye he seems game to fight anyone and he had Billye on the ropes in Rd 7 and was primed to be knocked out. With that said, I think the winner of the fight could have gone either way depending on scoring.

    • well a lot of people wanted to see benny fight the thai fighters under true muay thai rules also not the modified kickboxing rules the presented the Thai fighters with right before the fight
