I had an Akita growing up (1968). We brought her home from Japan. Quest is a beautiful pup.

Quest is a cutie💛 I’m leaving this comment in the hopes that you see it… my family has had five Akitas throughout my life. Two have had a similar condition to Quest. Ozzie, our Akita started having issues with his nose and then eyesight- we discovered early that he had VKH- a disease that is prevalent in Akitas that affects their skin, mucous membranes and eyes. It’s an Autoimmune Disease and similar to Lupus. Ozzie with the correct treatment and meds lived till he was 13. You might want to check on this with Quest as many general vets are not in know about VKH as it seems to be breed specific.

Our vet ran some tests found that he has pemphigus foliaceus (PF). Treatment was started immediately, as well as supplements and he's doing very well.
