  • I lost my little one over a year ago and my heart was in shreds, she had been with me everyday, loving me, taking care of me especially when I wasn't well. She had never messed the house or done anything but love me. I decided to adopt a rescue and went onto a website that covered several shelters and saw a little yellow dog, lovely. She wasn't available but they suggested a little boy dog and initially I said no boys but I still went to see him, three months old. Love at first sight. In the same period I had seen a little street dog in Roumania and I couldn't get her out of my mind so I decided to adopt her also. She travelled four days in a dark van in a cage to get to the south of France where I took two trains and two cars to get her. Now they are both the loves of my present life, she is a gentle frightened soul who loves being loved and he is a little terror but he sleeps behind my knees under the covers and looks like a cartoon character. What nice people dogs are.

  • After the last of my 15 year old collies died I cried and got up very lonely. I called my grandson and we went to the shelter, At 76 I wanted a sweet old dog who would follow me round and be grateful. Amid the mayhem one dog was standing stock still looking at me, so dignified and serious!! His eyes followed me all around, never moving a muscle. So I brought him into the waiting room and he fell at my feet asleep. That's how I got Toto...an English pointer/[pittie mix about 18 months old. He barks out the window at squirrels and dogs and people think, "Look that old lady has a huntin' dog!!" Never think God is finished giving you a challenge.

  • I know what it's like. My buddy boy Zeus is now 14, but in September 2018, my fiancee and I met him at the rescue centre, where he'd been rescued from a life of abuse and being used as a bait dog for dog fighting. He hadn't really responded to the affection by the kennel staff. So when we heard about him, we said we'd foster him, to bring him out of his shell. But when he was brought out to us, he ran over to us, rolled onto his back wanting attention and couldn't stop kissing us. On seeing this the kennel staff burst into tears seeing him finally happy and feeling loved. My fiancee and I looked at other and I said "I guess he's chosen us!" So we put in the adoption paperwork in and 2 weeks later, he became the king of our humble home.

  • Our Aussie choose us. They had all the younger dogs in one large cage, there must have been 20 of them. They were all clamoring to the front of the cage but sitting in the back, quietly was a little black and white Aussie, just waiting. When all the other puppies and young dogs lost interest and wandered away, then he came up to the front and said hello to us. Very smart boy. Buster was adopted that day along with his BIG brother Boomer. Boomer was a 150lb. Great Dane that had been at the shelter for just over a year as no one wanted him because he was too big. Buster and Boomer. What a pair they turned out to be. They will forever be part of our family.

  • When I was finally ready for another dog, I walked into the room at the county shelter and I could hear this one dog barking from the other end of the room. His bark was much louder than all the others. It was like he was telling me..."Hey, I am down here. I am the one that you want!!!" My heart went crazy. He was a beautiful Sheltie. Unfortunately, he was not yet available for adoption. Luckily, my name was on the list. I had to work the day he was available so my mother went and got him. He jumped into her lap while waiting to sign the papers and pay the fee. She was so surprised. She told me later that no dog had never done that before. He won her heart in an instant. How we loved that dog.

And after three days I decided I would keep him and so we met on the streets and his formers owners gave me some of his stuff. I left the dog with his previous owners to bring the stuff in and he started squeaking after me in a heart melting tone before I even changed the side of the street. From that point on I knew he too has made the decision to stay with me.

There are mystical connections between dogs and people. We currently have the world's most loving/cute/smart 12 year old Morkie, also a rescue from a shelter.

So he adopted Soloman! We both felt that he was raised with dogs because he acted so much like a dog! Sit by the door to go out, cuddle like a dog, rarely made biscuits . . and loved to sleep with our then 3 year old. I never liked him going out but, what can you do when a cat refuses a litter pan. As I type this we're only hours away from putting down the most unselfish and unconditionally loving dog I have ever had. For 12+ years she has been dependable, loving, and protective when she needed to be. It never mattered what kind of walk or adventure we would go on, she always shows us love and affection. When you treat a dog like family, they always make you a part of their pack. If you're the kind of owner who only greets their dog at feeding time, or only acknowledges them when they're barking, you're just not doing it right. We will miss you dearly. But knowing they had the best forever home I could give them, soothes my soul, over knowing what otherwise, would have been their fate. I look fwd to spending eternity w/each & every one of them, in God’s perfect & glorious heaven!✝🙌❤🐾 Be Blessed by her great love for you. Dogs are God’s daily reminders of His Great love for us. Dog is not spelled God backwards, for no reason. Nothing else graces this earth capable of His unconditional love.❤

  • As a child this adorable kitty came into our yard for a week. Our rescue dog was welcoming her in no problem. I continued to ask my mother if we could adopt her and she said the kitty has to belong to another family. We called around town and no one claimed her. That was the beginning of our 18+ years with her. She was one of our favorite cats. We loved all our animals but there’s always a few that are magical angels. 😊🙌🏼💕💫

    • the irony of your story reminds me of a pair of kittens that came into my life. different times of course, the first was my little brother up until a few years ago when he passed away. he was only 4 days old when we found him, Pumpkin (mom's friend's named him that), raised him by hand and he lived in this house his whole life until the day he passed away. he was a sweet boy but he was also a guard cat. scaring off people my grandparents don't want. Then while i was in north carolina, a baby kitten was left at the front door, a little bombay, my sister called her Little Orphan Annie, she was a sweet heart and absolutely playful, my sister kept her and as far as i know about her, she's living with her still. Animals are highly intelligent, sure they can't speak like humans can, yet they are capable of communicating in their own way, so treat all animals with respect, they were here before us and no doubt will be here long after us.

Got dog #3 a month after losing dog #2 and I really think this dog knew how broken my heart was after having to put #2 to sleep. He stays by my side constantly and jumps for joy every time I come home (I'm a stay at home mom, so I'm never gone long, lol).

  • I adopted a little Romanian rescue….4 years in the dog home and now 4 years with us. She doesn’t play with toys, rarely barks, is completely neutral towards humans and animals and occasionally wags her tail. But she’s entirely happy as long as some part of her is in contact with some part of me. At first I was disappointed in her lack of ‘personality’. But now I realise she is what she is and it’s a good job I’ve got her because I understand. 🙂

    • How lovely. That poor little dog has some happiness now. I rescued my Cairn terrier from a man who was going to sell her to a breeder. She was six months old and of show stock and had been stuck outside in a kennel in a yard where her owner was breeding rats and rabbits for sale. My mother and I walked into the house and she flew to my mother immediately. She knew that we had come for her and dogs that are rescued show their gratitude. I still have her, she's now ten and a half and the most wonderful little thing. One thing though, she never knew how to chase a ball or play and was completely hyper for months after I got her. Their previous life leaves a mark in their personality, but they teach us love. What is life without a dog?

I think a pound dog appreciates a family more than we will ever know. Those wagging tails and soulful eyes tell us so. God bless.

  • After our spaniel of many years passed away, we went looking for another dog to help fill the gap in our hearts. The terrier was jumping up at the fence the moment he saw us, long before we even stepped into the shelter. I walked up to it and started petting it through the fence, and it was clear that that was the dog for us. He's not as energetic now unfortunately, bad breeding and a bad life before we got to him, but I still love him with all my heart.

  • Back when I smoked I had gone to the gas station at 4am for another pack (I was walking, just to clarify). It was november in SC and it was snowing already which was unusual for the area. Otw back I heard something going through a neighbors trash so I stopped to see what it was, figuring a raccoon or possum. It was my Gingersnap, she was a stray pittie that was maybe 2 months old when I found her. I squatted down and made the usual noises you make to get a dogs attention. Most strays stay away from humans if they don't want to interact. Gingy ran right up to me and immediately started jumping and wanting pets. She picked me instead of running away. I tucked her into my coat, got home, and said to my (now ex) fiancee "Hey babe guess what I found otw back?" Her: "I swear to god if you found another cat to take care of..." Me:"Joke's on you, its not a cat lol." Cue the big reveal of an adorable baby pittie with a coat colored just like a gingersnap cookie. She was so happy and full of life. I miss her terribly everyday.

  • When they want to hold your hand or if they need body contact...💔💝🐾💝💔... Dogs are the best beings on our planet earth ❣️❣️❣️ They love you more as they love themselves and their love is unconditional and pure and deep. If you never had a dog you don't know what unconditional love is... I had always 3 - 4 cats cause of my fulltime job I never had enough time for a dog... This changed in 2009... I was working only 5 hours a day and my husband and I got different shifts so a dog would be alone maximum for 4 hours. So it was time to adopt a dog from the local shelter or a animal rescue... That's how we met our crazy Daisy 💖... She was just seven months old and a mix of St. Bernard and big Münsterländer a german hunting breed... She was a huge baby with about 💯 lbs and 💯 lbs pure love and affection... She was the sweetest soul you can imagine... She hadn't one aggressive second or one second any disease... She loved everything and everybody and everybody was her friend... Her big brown eyes were so beautiful and gentle you just know watching her she is super kind and soft... She gave us almost 11 years of her life and that was the best time ever... Sadly in August 2019 we had to put her down cause of a very aggressive kind of cancer... Her complete stomach area and her ribcage was full with tumors and the vets told us it would be the best never let her awake again... And we had to make the hardest decision in our lifes... The doctors told us with those huge tumors she would have 8 - 12 weeks left and those in pain... And of course we NEVER would let one of our animals suffer... So we gave our okay... That moment the doctors said she's gone it was the most horrifying moment... My legs couldn't hold me anymore and my heart was hurting so bad and I mean real pain... I couldn't stop crying for weeks and my life turned from daily sunshine and happiness with Daisy into a black pit... I couldn't laugh anymore all that positive feelings I had every day were gone and I was so so heartbroken and devastated... I got deep deppressions and for over one year I don't left the house... My husband tried everything to make me happy again but how could he without my giant baby, my soulmate, my shadow she was everything for me... When she left she took my heart with her and there was no reason for me to be happy again... She was and is the love of my life and the best friend I ever had... One day my husband said he had a surprise for me and so we drove somewhere... When we'd arrived I saw a big shield that told the visitors we are at a horse farm... I' d thought wth are we doing here we can't hold a horse in our garden... But.... The boss came and we sat down talking with a good coffee in our hand... She directed our talk to dogs and I told her Daisy 's story crying and crying again and she was so touched that she was crying with us... A little bit later she said she would get some handkerchiefs... Before she came back around the corner we'd heard some paws on the ground and a black and white dog came around the corner... It was DAISY ????? 😱😱😱😱😱 Of course it wasn't her it was Marley a beautiful mix of Border Collie and small Münsterländer the german hunting breed... He looks exactly like Daisy only 2 numbers smaller... He has the same half sized white heart on his forehead he is black and white with many big dots and his tail has wonderful white curly fur - like Daisy 's 😢😢😢... My husband was shocked too cause he didn't saw a picture of Marley cause at that time he was in quarantine in Greece where people found him at a dumpster... It was meant to be ❣️❣️❣️ I am sure you can imagine that we took him home the same day... Normally they check the situation at the adopters home but she said it was meant to be that YOU found him here and she don't doubt a second that there is something wrong with us... Since that day life became colours again and I was getting happier each day... Don't understand me wrong Daisy will always be our number one but Marley was a shy boy and the way he cuddled up with me was super sweet... His character is completly different but that is clear cause he is a different dog but we are very happy that we could give him a life filled with love and care and everything he needed and we don't want to miss him anymore 💝🐾💝🐾💝

    • Now you have me crying over my late Jayne (Named after Jayne Cobb on Firefly). She had a stroke, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. Could not walk or control her waste disposal. My late wife was not physically able to take care of her. The Vet told us an operation to try to help her would be expensive and have no guarantee of working. So we had to put her down. I made the mistake of holding her at the time. When she passed, her eyes were still open and it made it a lot worse for us. Broke our hearts. We had here for less than a year, but I loved her dearly. I will have to wait till I reach heaven to see her again. She is there along with your Daisy romping and playing together in harmony. There must be millions of other pets there waiting for their guardians to arrive. Please do not miss it.

    • Oh, I am very sorry for your loss and that I made you cry 😢. But it shows how much we love our pets. They are not only pets they are full family members... They come in our lifes like a bomb explosion and they steel our hearts. They are the best friends we could have and the love and trust they give us is unbelievable even if they come from bad experiences... The only sad thing is that they don't get really old and the day come when we had to let them go...💔💔💔 In case of any disease or suffering we have the chance to let them go in peace as much as it hurts... They take our hearts with them and left us back heartbroken and completly devestated... I am sure Jayne and Daisy have a wonderful afterlife with uncountable fur friends 💖. I was always afraid of dying but I am not afraid now cause I know Daisy and I will meet us again and nothing could seperate us anymore ❣️❣️❣️. This crazy giant baby was and is my life. In August four years went by but it feels like yesterday... It happens often that we call our Border Collie Mix Marley Daisy and the funny thing is that he reacts on calling him Daisy... I must tell you something a little bit creepy but wonderful story and it is really the truth... Maybe two weeks after Daisy left us we sat in the kitchen like every evening... My husband was playing Playstation and I was writing a letter. Suddenly the athmosphere changed... It felt like sitting in the room and the room was empty all furniture and everything wasn't there anymore... Daisy was always at my left side and if I hadn't anything to do I laid my hand on her and cuddled her... I always have cold hands but suddenly my hand got warm only the left one... My husband felt the change too... We both stared on the other and in the same second we both said Daisy is here... It felt warm it felt filled with life and energy and we felt that unconditional love of her and we both felt so happy... It felt great but a little bit creepy too and we were talking about it and we don't know what's going on and if it was real... The next day our youngest grandchild came she was 7 at that time. She loved Daisy very much too and they were best buddys... This girl is very emotional and has a huge empathy and she is very special and super smart. That evening she staid overnight like often cause we have a super close bond and she is like my own baby... After diner we sat at the kitchen table and were playing a Game... Suddenly it started like the evening before and my husband and I saw in each others face again but Leeona was the one who said Daisy is here I can feel her 😱... It was unbelievable and we were all shocked but very happy... Since the first day it started Daisy is here every evening 💖. But this isn't the end... We also had three Maine Coon boys and Tyler was Daisy 's best buddy... After Daisy was gone he didn't came in the kitchen anymore don't matter if you had food or treats... When that evening "sessions" began he came back into the kitchen to my left side where Daisy was lying and he started purring like crazy and he was happy cause before he was so sad and ran through the house looking for Daisy... 💔💔💔. Sadly Tyler passed away in October 2022 cause of kidney failure 😭😭😭... The same day he died Daisy "came" and spread a lot of happiness... She "told" us don't worry Tyler is here and he is fine and we are both so happy of being together again...😢 It was everything it was weird it was creepy it was confusing and it was wonderful... Could three humans and a cat be so crazy that they felt the same ??? A huge Imagination at the same second ??? No we are all sure - it is real ❣️❣️❣️ After about a year later we decided to adopt a new dog to give another sweet soul a good and loved life... The crazy thing was that we didn't saw a picture of Marley before cause he was in quarantine in Greece after he was found at a dumpster... The day we met him the first time was shocking... We only knew he is black and white - like Daisy and that he is a Border Collie Mix half Collie half small Münsterländer a german hunting breed... Daisy was a mix of St. Bernard and big Münsterländer... When Marley came around with the volunteer we were shocked he is looking like a little brother of Daisy 😱💔😍💖. And we took him home the same day ❤. The evening came with the same procedure as every evening but one thing was different... That feeling started that Daisy is coming. Marley laid under the kitchen table and was in deep sleep... Suddenly he sprung up tail wagging like crazy and came to my left side what was Daisy 's side... He wasn't directly on my side but maybe 50 cm away like there was something and he couldn't come closer... He was excited and happy and he was wagging his tail all the time and he stopped it in the second Daisy left... It is unbelievable !!! Three humans and two animals have the same feelings at the same time and they all feel it at the same time when Daisy left... This can't be imagination, this can't be a fata morgana... It is a super close bond and it is pure and honest unconditional love ❣️❣️❣️. We know that Daisy is in our hearts and minds forever and we will never forget her but she is showing us her love and that we are in her heart every evening... Damn I miss my giant baby so so much maybe some people think I am crazy cause I can't let her go or cause I am still spending a lot of time with thinking on her, watching her videos and pictures but I don't mind !!! She was and is the love of my life and she is my soulmate and best friend forever. Nobody else will take her place and I love her until my last breath !!! 💝🐾💝🐾💝🐾💝🐾💝
