When my parents first started dating, my mom's mom had a German Shepherd named Lesile. At first, she wouldn't let my parents sit together because she was being protective of my mom. Eventually, though, she'd try to keep them apart because she wanted all my dad's attention for herself.

My husband had a shi tzu and mini long-haired dachshund when we started dating. He got them with his ex-wife, so they were none too impressed with Mommy being gone and this strange lady in their house. It didn't help that I had never been around small dogs in my life (grew up on a farm, so everyone including us always had some large breed mutt), so I didn't really understand their behaviour. Didn't take long to get over that, though. The dogs did later go live with the ex-wife but I got to see them every other week when picking up my stepson. 🥰 They didn't get _quite_ as excited to see me as my husband, understandably, but it was still pretty great.

I love how dogs always look completely shocked when you pull them in for a cuddle, but then theyre like "oh, this is nice" and they immediately relax

She’s been gone for a while, but I used to have a female Rottweiler that my wife called, “the other wife”. Every once in a while I’d hear my wife say, “hey, your wife needs to go outside to go pee!”

My best girl fell completely in love with my then-boyfriend. I had a special ring set up for his calls and when the phone rang, she went nuts. Ran to the window and waited for his car. After he arrived, she just monopolized him and completely ignored me. But it was all just fine. For the first time in my life, I had a "family." We all three loved each other very much.

I remember the love of my life, my cat Budweiser, when I was a young woman. I had a boyfriend who would come over sometimes and we'd sit on the couch and watch TV. But when we went to kiss, Budweiser was seated on the back of the couch and would stick his head in the middle so I kissed one side and my boyfriend kissed the other side of Budweiser's face. LOL! It was Budweiser who got ALL the kisses.

My ex lives next door to me, and we are still really good friends. To this day, as soon as his dog sees me, all bets are off. He will only listen to me. He will push him away if he tries to sit by me. He even wraps himself around me if anyone gets up and walks in my direction. He will sit outside my side door until he hears a noise in the garage, then he goes nuts. He's learned how to open doors to be able to come visit. If he's ever missing, my house is the first place my ex checks. 😂😂 I have to say I love it because I know I'm always protected by both of them.

I experienced that with my girlfriend's cat. Amongst other things, I was the only one who could pick her up without her complaining, she didn't give that privilege to anyone else in the entire family.

my female friend's dog is like this with me. She loves doggie hugs, will lean in to me for one. I go over every week or so (more in the summer) to take her for walkies and snuggles. That hound helped get me through the pandemic, love that fuzzy lump.

I used to take my ex's Pitbull for a motorcycle ride 3 times a week in my side car. The day my ex and I broke up, her dog kept hopping in the sidecar trying to go for a ride and had no idea why she couldn't. Her father told me everytime the dog heard a motorcycle she would hop up ruin to the door and go skitzo for years. Too bad my ex cheated on me, I couldn't stomach seeing her so I could never see the dog.

I had Terry a mutt (so many breeds the vet couldn't name them) well when that bug hit her she loved to dig to go under the 5 foot chain-link fence. LOL I had to dig 2 feet down and put concrete in the trench to keep her in.. My little escape artist who could warm a ice burg...

My pitbull always grawls whenever any of the couples in the family (my mom/stepdad, my brothers/sisters-in-law, and my stepsister/her boyfriend) are at all affectionate with one another.
