No wonder Rusty chose her husband over her, she's just "social networks PR", nothing to do with real affection towards Rusty. She's has no feelings for that dog but she has that need to present herself on KZhead. Don't you think her husband was talking too much on this video???😂😂😂😂

    • Agreed - a lot of animals (esp those who've been abused) seem to have a fairly aggressive-sounding or noisy fear response, and many shelter volunteers don't seem to have the necessary training to recognise that it's just that, fear not actual aggression? Unfortunately where that lack of awareness collides with pre-existing breed prejudices (eg around bully breeds), dogs can get even further fast-tracked to the euthanasia list. Always really appreciate hearing of people who've managed to step in at that point and rescue a dog (or cat!) who would've otherwise not had a chance?

  • As someone who was a 4th wheel (our GSD preferred my husband and daughter to me) you will be surprised. He knew I was the one to go to for food, walks, and when he hurts himself or feels yucky. And he’d obey me like a moody teenager…”fine, whatever”… It was like that for four years. 2/13/17 until 9/13/21. When my mom died. He did not leave my side for the following 2 weeks. And since then…he comes to me for cuddles, gives me kisses, and even shares his squeaky with me. Occasionally. He’s funny about his squeaky. I was told by a couple trainers that a GSD needs to be needed, and considering we had a rottie who was a mamas boy and a pit/beagle who was queen bee…he knew I didn’t need him. Until I did. ☺️

    • Dogs are so intuitive, the will comfort you without question. When I was pregnant with my 1st born we were living with my parents waiting on a house to become ready to rent. My mom was an R.N. So that was convenient but I went into labor at midnight and I didn’t automatically realize it. It wasn’t until I had the 2 contraction about 30 min later that I realized it. My moms dog, a Yorkie named Cowboy, got in my bed and curled up to my belly and every time I’d have a contraction, he would just tremble, the contraction would stop and he would quit trembling. This went on until it was time to go the the hospital. Mom mom said he would not leave the door the whole time I was gone. She had to move his food and water to the door. When I came home with the baby, he would lay under his cradle, (yeah, it was that long ago). If he whimpered or cried, he was up wanting someone to come get the baby.

My cats do the same thing with me, and it makes my girlfriend very sad. Oddly enough, if I show my girlfriend affection, my cats follow suit and climb all over her and try and groom her, which is always a good sign. This is how I try and keep the peace in my home. Either way, don't take it personally, it's just a cat being a cat.

I have known two other dogs around 40+ pounds or so that have both been types to climb into a person's lap. I would say it's both a love thing as well as an insecure thing. "Love" to say they appreciated being chosen, and "insecure" as if not sure they are truly being folded into the fabric of the family they've become a part of. Both Ginger and Dimebag (named, obviously, for the guitarist of Pantera) were very sweet dogs and just wanted to be loved...like the dog in this video.

  • Lol, an ex-girlfriend and I had a similar experience. She had found a stray pregnant cat and she brought her home with her. The cat was friendly so we kept her instead of taking her to the humane society. We named her Church because she looked like the cat on Pet Cemetery. Church very quickly became attached to me and followed me all over the house. If she didn't follow me then she would sit wherever I was sitting and wouldn't let anyone sit there. She had her babies and we found good homes for them with friends. Church was always with me and she absolutely loved to sit on my chest and groom my beard and stash while she purred and massaged me with her murder mittens. She liked other people but she loved me and made sure everyone knew that I belonged to her.

    • @@frolickinglions- my dad had semi adopted a big main coon when his people just left him at the apartments when they moved. He survived on his own for a while and was always an indoor /outdoor cat even after "adopted". He obviously had all his claws and occasionally he'd get a little rough when playing. I remember once he reached out and grabbed the sides of my face by my temples when he was on a cabinet and I was popping up in a peekaboo type game. I said, "Okay. Playtime is over," as I froze. I gently pried his claws out of the side of my face without cutting myself. Luckily he was generally fairly gentle and didn't pull away even though he had been hyped while playing. Murder mittens indeed. He was all black with white on his chest and paws which did make them look like mittens. I'm also reminded of that event when I watch "I am Puma" and their cougar reaches out to bat or grab at his "dad's" face with those huge paws.

The family that had him kept him locked in a bathroom so he hadn't been properly socialized. Shortly after adopting him it was discovered he had urinary issues. Aside from an emergency vet visit he's been perfectly good since just eating special food. It took time for him to be trusting and to get more than a few pets without being overstimulated and freaking out. 4 years after adoption he turned into a complete lap cat. Every morning now I sit down and enjoy my coffee or tea with a cat sprawled across my lap purring like mad. I hate to think what could have happened to him if someone else had adopted him. He may have ended up back at the shelter over and over, or not have had his medical needs tended to properly.
