mix bananas with some walnuts! the famous dessert that drives the world crazy! ready in 5 minutes!
ingredients :
3 bananas
a half lemon juice
1/4 cup of sugar (60g)
2 tbsp of butter (30g)
1/2 cup of chopped walnuts
2 eggs
a pinch of salt
8g of vanilla sugar
1/4 cup of vegetable oil (60ml)
1/2 cup of milk (120ml)
1 and 1/2 cup of all purpose flour (160g-180g)
2 tbsp of cocoa powder (20g)
1 tbsp of baking powder (15g)
some powdered sugar for garnish

  • Stop at the point where carmelized sugar melts and coats bananas + chopped walnuts. Use a splash of good brandy over the ingredients, take off heat and light the brandy with a lighter, in the pan until the flaming stops...spoon onto really vanilla bean ice cream. That's it. This is a Black Tie Dessert from the 50's and 60's called "Bananas Foster" a truly amazing tasting and elegant dessert!

    • Instead of powder sugar, put that BF topping over that cake. Also,over a flan instead of the usual amount of the Caramel topping. Use a lighter amount of the caramel to add flavor and keep the custard from sticking. Invert onto the plate and add the flame be topping!

  • Great!! At the moment when you add the caramelized bananas with the nuts to the flour mixture, I usually add some raisins as well, previously hydrated in Muscatel wine.

  • You can also read it as ready to cook in 5 minutes…which is about how long it took to prepare all ingredients. I think the cake looks delicious and might try it. 👍

    • A friend of mine gave me a great tip …..ad 2/3 tablespoons of boiling water in the mixture ( before adding any fruit) ,it gives great fluffiness and the cake stays fresh for couple of days, if ,,survive “

    • I think that's bananas foster.. you add the rum then light it on fire and it caramelizes the sugar then put it over vanilla ice cream.. yummy just like cherries jubilee, also an excellent desert!!
