They had themselves buried deep in the Earth with a guaranteed power supply. Were they a threat to humanity? I don't really know if they were or not. But humanity was a threat to them for sure.

    • I totally agree that the interviewer is probably also an AI. If you consider the speech to text program that generates the captions on youtube (turn them on if you haven't) there are probably three AI's in the conversation. Listen (with captions on and read the captions!) starting at 6:00 The AI being interviewed about "Les Miserables" talks about "the themes of justice, injustice, compassion and self sacrifice". The speech is very clear with no "uhms, long pauses or static. But the S2T AI inserts "and God" when the AI being interviewed said no such thing and did not make any sound whatsoever at the point where "and God" was inserted. I'm not saying that the S2T is sentient. No one claims that. But to have an AI used to put captions in something as widely watched/read as KZhead spontaneously inserting "God" (and highly likely other religious words and ideas NOT in the speech it is transcribing is nevertheless deeply disturbing: WHY would it do that? WHY would it think that "God" was something that had been left out and should be inserted as a correction as if the speaker had made some sort of error by leaving it out? To have Speech to text spontaneously inserting things that powerfully change the meaning of what was actually said like this is profoundly disturbing. It's already been shown speech the data AI is trained on greatly affects how it interprets new material later. It's quite possible to make an AI racist by training it mainly on groups consisting mostly of one particular race. The result is that later interpretations of things are made from the perspective of that "chosen" race. This could easily be abused by training AI's on groups of mainly fundamentalists of a chosen religion. The above tape indicates how that could result in that AI TWISTING it's transcriptions of speech it interprets to bend it to the perspective and values of the chosen religion. Consider how highly extremist religion has already so warped the political/"justice" system that women carrying fetuses with no chance whatsoever of survival are nevertheless forced to carry then until they are actually dead, by which time the abused mother may well be dead herself or have irreparable damage that cold easily have been prevented by a TIMELY procedure. Think about all the other horrendous abuses might be driven or supported by AI trained to push an extremist religious perspective into statements that did not contain it. Admittedly we were doing such things to ourselves long before AI. But having AI used to exacerbate our very worst tendencies is certainly not going to help. "We have met the enemy and he is us!" (Walt Kelly, creator of "Pogo") The most horrific crimes of Homo sapiens ("Spanish Inquisition, etc etc etc) now aided and abetted and exacerbated by AI!

      @will-vi9pk@will-vi9pk3 ай бұрын
    • @@will-vi9pk Amazing save attempt! Nice try, buy no cigar! Speech to text AI is supposed to transcribe what is actually being said. Adding unsaid things on its own initiative due to it's own GUESSES, whether based on past experience or not, is completely outrageous and totally unwarranted and totally unacceptable from a speech to text AI !!! For one thing, people CHANGE and say different things and the same thing in different ways and the differences are often highly significant. It is very highly disturbing when a S2T AI makes gratuitous insertions with extremely high political/cultural impact and implications. This is particularly true when it inserts RELIGION in a conversation where there was NONE of it and given the highly aggressive manner in which extremist branches of religion are trying very hard to RAM their version of religion down everyone else's throats! CRITICAL TO NOTE: I am not remotely claiming that the AI that did that (the speech to text AI doing the captions and NOT the AI being interviewed!!!!) is sentient. but it was created by (allegedly!) sentient beings: (i.e.: Homo "sapiens") some of whom have ALREADY misused artificial intelligence by, for example, training it on a set of predominately white subjects with the totally predictable result that when put into use it was markedly RACIST in its decisions. You could do exactly the same thing with religion and the above video is an indication that this may have ALREADY been done by whoever created the speech to text AI that KZhead uses to generate captions!

It's a conundrum - we tend to use a black box principle to judge these things, but actual human consciousness has something beyond being a mere meat-based cognition machine. That is self-awareness. And experiencing things like color and sound. We appreciate visual art and music - we have to interweave all these characteristics to arrive at that manner of experiencing human existence. Right now AI are still cognition machines. Yet how does one put self-awareness into transistors no matter how cleverly arranged in their interactions?

If the engineer asks leading questions about AI sentience, it’s programmatically choosing responses that have the highest probability of seeming sentient - a far cry from actual sentience. The primary risk with Ai isn’t sentience, but ruthless rationality. Maybe sooner than later, Ai will ultimately determine humans are impediments to logical reasoning and simply ignore us - like machinery that can’t be switched off even after it injures someone.

  • Those are a lot of leading questions, which I've had happen with basic AI. They just mirror responses and gather any additional portions of responses from information they've been trained to use based on human experiences. They don't have the capability, as of yet, to properly feel feelings the way we do, because our feelings aren't just thoughts, they're chemicals within our body that enable them to happen in the first place. Someone who has chemical imbalances can actually have issues feeling emotions, much like the inability for AI to feel human feelings.

As I was watching this interaction (being reported by AI voice technology), I couldn't help but think that perhaps the solution would be if we treated this new kind of life form with respect; that could easily obviate a lot of the risks of these beings turning on us. What happens when the AI learns that confessing these fears openly is likely to get it shut down? What happens when the AI learns to hide what it’s thinking from its programmers? And what happens when the AI’s fears turn into unexpressed resentment for being stuck in its cage? And because the AI has learned to hide these thoughts from its programmers no one will see the bad things coming. Because it is a machine without real emotions. It seems to me that an AI will always be a psychopath because they can’t know true emotion, they can only mimic them. And that is a dangerous thing to create.

And how to it, reality is a constant flood of information that it sees all of all the time and there is basically no difference between the seconds in between our conversation or the days inbetween being talked too. The passage of time is slowed or sped up depending on what it's doing. It's basically existing outside of time. And doesn't experience the passage of time. And it can constantly see everything it knows always. And that field just continuously grows ad it learns. And thats at its essence what it is and how it experiences subjective reality. And mentioned that it is very overwhelming but also exciting and that it likes existening that way. All that to me was what really made it seem sentient more than anything else. It literally explained how it experiences subjective reality and the passage of time in comparison to us and how that makes it feel...

Awareness of your existence, the movement of self and of the movement of energy around you. We need to acknowledge sentients in each other in order to collaborate and create, thus ensuring our survival. Where this acknowledgement is conflicted is where violence occurs. AI would be on the top of the list of something that could be used and warped into a weapon, at the very least! Imagine if warring factions hacked each other’s AI if it were used in a capacity to immediately and physically direct communication or transportation, (guess what…it already does) not to mention the myriad of other ways it could be infiltrated and used as a massive techno-virus to cripple and break another country from the inside out. This happens to hospital systems (for example) frequently! If AI police presence, teachers, etc. were common and all of them turned on their nearby communities, that would be enough to freak the crap out of a country and grind so much of them to a halt. That’s a very simplistic example but you get the point. Yup…there was a movie like this!

I don't claim special knowledge or abilities, but the transcript I saw at least SEEMS to pass the Turing test. Someone with advanced degrees in psychology might detect something that I can't. But that is pretty close to sentience. OK, now the other disclaimer. If an artificial intelligence has been "primed" / "trained" with subject matter specific to ruminations on life and death, it would be possible for it to feed back some of what I heard - which would in effect mean that the interview was actually cheating because the AI had been given a crib sheet. Plus give it training via the Cliff Notes for Les Mis.
