Great conversation Andrew. My wife and I are on our third motorhome over the past 25 years of RV’ing and each one has been a big step up from the previous. I’m a mechanic by trade and do all of my own maintenance and “zero out” each RV as soon as we take ownership. Our current coach is a 2003 40’ Monaco Dynasty that we bought at four years of age and have owned it for 13 years now. A Prevost conversion is on my very short list of next coaches for retirement and it was nice to hear this couple share their insight and it was very close to what I was imagining as far as maintenance and repairs. Lots of similarities between Prevost and Wanderlodge owners forums, like the ability to post a “help” message and have answers in minutes. That’s even more important for us because we operate our “spooky” coaches without manufacturer support (long out-of-business). That makes starting out somewhat intimidating to the mechanically “reclined”. However, it would be crazy expensive to own one of these if you were using a “plastic wrench” all the time. Most of us avoid CW like the plague because these coaches are so different from regular RV’s. Takes a while to accumulate but having a “call a friend” list readily available on your cell phone is mandatory! Easy to get overwhelmed with these fine machines, but the reward is a coach of unmatched beauty and function.

Even 2.65 million dollar Prevosts have their days, but I'd still buy one over anything else. These RV motorcoaches have proven themselves time and time again. I would pick Liberty or Marathon as my converter.
Id rather buy a 10 yr old Prevost compared to most other new coaches out there.

@@ianhumphry1 Which will be slowly driving up the cost of some of these used Prevost coaches. I find that most people who own a Prevost really take care of these expensive coaches when they were new, they take care of their investment.
A very informative video with Court and Heather. RV's are like other vehicles. They need service and repair. Customizing can get expensive.
WOW thank you thank you thank you! those are the questions NO owner wants to really ask or answer! How informative, upfront and honest. messing' with the stinky slinky to answering the tough questions of ownership love these guys! I find it amazing if you truly look at it in the grand scheme of things it has been cheaper for them to own that Prevost than it has been for Andrew to own that Tiffin. Think about that one a bit....that's the real stinger. As always Andrew, thank you sir keep it up and have a great day!
I am not an RV owner. But I find most of all your insights very useful. Thank you for all the interviews that you do with people and costs. It helps me to hopefully make a good decision in the future what would be my ideal recreational vehicle. Toy hauler, fifth wheel, etc. Since I'm kind of a low maintenance type of person I guess I want something that's extremely low maintenance. But those Prevost are really nice, like a mini city. Would like to maybe rent one one day.
As the previous owner of 2 Marathon coaches one thing is for sure, they are not for the faint of heart. Nothing is inexpensive and it never ends with maintenance. I once had a service manager tell me that Marathon was a Grand Place. I asked him what he meant and he said "have you ever got out of here for less than a grand"? I then knew what he meant. I've been out of coaching for 10 years now but have decided to get back into a Prevost. I will most likely buy another Marathon because of their service locations and because I know the quality of their conversions and how their systems generally work. All the best to Heather and Court.

I know this bus very well. I drove it for the second owner. I last saw it in Sturges when the 3rd owner had it. It’s always easy to tell because of the pinstripe of paint on the stainless down the both sides. I know the story about it.

Would love for you to do something on Foretravels! We have a 2000 U320 that has 135k on engine and we go through the same issues and fixes as your guests. We are very fortunate that we have a great forum that helps fellow owners out and the fact that Foretravel is still in business and we can contact them as well. I try to work on our own Aqua Hot, but we have used a guy in Baytown, TX, Rudy, that is great and will give of his time to help fellow owners as well! Anyway, would be cool as we also have the bladder system on our slides, which work just like the Prevost models.

First world problems. Man understands. We are lucky to have what we have. The owners lounges (online) are awsome. Our slide is air driven (rams) and has the airbag seals, Vacuum pump, slides out and pumps up. I've been through mine and once you get it , it's easy. a big toy.

Its good to hear that Court keeps extra belts and items which would be handy in a pinch to get things fixed. A couple of things to also keep on hand would be tools (cordless drill, socket set and other handy tools). Court stated he took picture of the engine bay to see how the belts went. It would be a good ideal for all RV owners, whether Prevost or other, is to take pictures of all compartments on your rig. This would come in handy to see if any thing has changed.

I would also recommend keeping a fuel filter on hand along with a enough diesel to fill it. I always carried an extra fuel filter in the truck.

Bottom line; you aren't handy, you better have deep pockets! We carry the belts, a full 2nd set of oil, fuel filters, engine oil/hydraulic oil and anti freeze, aqua hot spray nozzles, 2nd controller for aqua hot, lots of tools and yes, a battery drill with chargers. Magnetic lights to help with repairs, rags and pex fittings. You never know what you will need, but it's good to be prepared. It's hard to just drive to your local hardware store if you are out in the boonies! lol
I had to put a new roof on my summer home. It was expensive but for the fun we get in return worth every penny.
I would love to see a full time prevost RV vlog couple that just explain the ins and outside of everday RV life I'd love to just go full time instead of buying a house and the knowledge that could provide would be huge

Thanks for the honesty! I'd echo the concern about not keeping spare fuel filters on-board, but he probably forgot to mention them. Three things that weren't touched on - Did they finance the coach? (very hard for an older coach), and how did they find insurance for it? Also, I'm guessing they didn't do any extended warranty - or did they? Great video!
Yep just forgot to mention those 👍, didn't finance but there are lenders out there for the age of this coach if you need contacts let me know, and we insure through National General, lastly no 3rd party extended warranty purchased either as we didn't think it was worth it

Great conversation between the 3 of you. Thank you for taking the time and sharing your personal experience. I have one take away that I would love for you two to address. Throughout this interview when you were thanking individual technicians and specialists, not once did you ever mention that you contacted or received help from Prevost. That is concerning. Either you felt like they were not able or willing to help you with THEIR product, or the assistance you got was substandard . As a Newmar owner, I agree with you. Calling Camping World is useless, however I can call my technician from Newmar 24/7 and be on the phone troubleshooting right then. I see constant videos of unhappy coach owners and this makes me leary to consider other brands. For me, the manufacturer must be the #1 go to and if they aren't, then that shows where their level of commitment is for their product. I would love a second interview or your opinion on this. How are you with PREVOST itself. THANK YOU again, for a great video. BTW I swear it looks like you cleaned out your coach to sell it. LOL
I will ask Court about any support he got directly from Prevost and Millennium and the everything is stowed for travel so it looks baren, plus if you watch one of Andrews first videos of us you can see all the tchotchke stuff pre-reno I threw out, I can't handle clutter ;)

The question is: cost per mile for maintenance for the Prevost. Would you say it's reasonable or above average compared to a production luxury coach?

Court thinks same, but the level of satisfaction and fulfillment might be slightly more in a Prevost😉 He's gonna add a column to his spreadsheet now for this 👍
I'm not sure that cost per mile is a valid metric. Are you asking compared to a new(er)production luxury coach? Because I'll bet that Heather and Court, for what they will have paid for a top end coach compared to its new price, have scored big time. You should be asking comfort/mile instead. Because we know from the previous video, that the quality they now have is far superior for the money they have spent vs. purchasing something newer yet more expensive. I know because I made the same choice for a 2000 Bluebird and I have a gained a premium coach for a fraction of new cost, with a better quality vs what can be purchased in something new(er). With the interior upgrades to keep it modern, and the mechanical maintenance kept up to Courts' standards, their coach will always keep its' value.
@@OddsandSods26 I was asking because Court had mentioned all the maintenance costs, but the costs might have been reasonable if they had driven a lot of miles recently. The opposite could have been true: excessive wear and tear despite low mileage driven. Remember that Andrew interviewed a Newmar owner whose King Aire required one too many visits to the shop despite being new? I agree that, in the end, the smooth, quiet ride of the Prevost is hard to beat. The experience of riding in something so well made has to be extremely satisfying.

Laughed about your oil leak , you know the Detroit Diesels are nick named Green Leakers for a reason...great engines but a bitch to keep from leaking oil. Great Video look forward to more tks….

What do you expect when you buy a 15 years old RV ? Sure you’ll put money in it, Prevost or any other brand. Prevost is not the problem, RV is the problem.
That’s why I traded my 13 yr beautiful MH in. I loved it but I had 13 great yrs.

I'm surprised Court didn't have fuel filters on his list of parts he carries... my hearing sucks so maybe he did. Nice informative video. I have a 2000 Monaco Dynasty for the last two and half years and full time for the last two...I have had a few more problems but still love this coach. Nice job of the owners to be open.

I think you can ask the question without putting yourself in the shot. This prevents you moving the camera so much, you may want to keep both of the owners in the frame. Good info, thanks.
Prevost owners have the advantage of a better support system (Prevost Service Centers, Converter Service Centers, Forums, 24 hour phone numbers, Faster Appointments for Service, Faster Service in Shops, Commercial/Stronger Chasis Parts (just watch a you tube of the repairs and parts). Bringing an older chaisis (zeroing out) up to new is about $ 30,000.00....then you will have a coach that cost over a million new... If you have or had a convential coach, you will appreciate the speed and ease of getting service on a Prevost chasis even during busy times.

Sounds like if you are OCD about having things working all the time, and if not mechanical/DIY inclined then RVing should not be touched with a 100 foot pole. Sounds like fun, but incredibly capex (time and $) intensive. I would get deal fatigue rather quickly. And this is for a top of line set up, I imagine what other lesser brands require. No wonder these depreciate and drop in value so rapidly no matter the brand. And the depreciation curve does not stabilize at any point in time, just like an elevator shaft.

My point is that for other people (like me) the demands that come with owning an RV (of whatever price range including multi-million dollar ones) may not be a fit. Meaning, RV is not for those who are not mechanically capable or inclined (I have zero desire to mess with all the multiple systems on board an RV), or if you are OCD about everything working fine all the time (Cole is probably mechanically inclined and capable, and willing to roll with the punches of owning an RV). I would totally be at a loss addressing little problems here and there. Fixing and maintaining your RV is probably a source of pride and highly rewarding for Cole (and for you). Totally not my cup of tea at all, I could not do it at all, it would bring me to tears in less than a week. Enjoy your lifestyle, you have a beautiful home. I considered buying one because of the corona virus, we have to travel as a family pursuant to athletics and I am not there on staying at hotels and eating at restaurants. RV or motor coaching is not for me, that is the conclusion.
@@ognqski consider traveling in an RV if necessary with a driver? Many tour buses like Kyle and Bordurcoachleasing have buses that can translate to help families get thru this, maybe an option for you👌

I prefer American Coach Eagle Class A to this RV bus. I have been traveling around America for 5 years, no problem, just maintenance of the engine and just change the tire.

It odd that all the owners of RVs that get interviewed etc never mentioned water leaks , as we had a thor coach and it leaked like a colander , hard to believe that peops never have water ingress
I mentioned in several videos. Prevost coaches are not nearly as prone to water leaks as hey Thor would be

Could you please go into more detail on the zeroing out a coach.
For big machinery there's a scheduled maintenance interval and a wear interval. The wear interval is one of those things that can be very useful in that once you do the replacements you should be "zeroed out" on having to do it again for quite some time. Houses are the same. Houses are the same. On a standard house it's about 15 years. The roof, the appliances, the furnace, the plumbing fixtures. Of course, life rarely works like that and the older things are the more out of whack things get so that instead of one big lump, it keeps coming along every few years. And it depends on the replacements too. Was the money spent wisely and excellent quality replacements and repairs were done.
Bring all services up to date...belts, new tires, fluids, check suspension, airbags, rubber boots, brakes, new batteries...oh I think someone else just posted a better explanation too
@@alexandermckay8594 I've lived in a 60 year old house for 30 years. A quality roof lasts 30-50 years. So does the electric and plumbing Maintenance is so much less than a high end Class A. Why is this? A big MH has all the complexities of my big house, plus a diesel bus. Add a genset, slides, electronics, solar, transfer switches, outdoor kitchens etc. too. Second, these fancy MH's have crap like sch 20 pvc, romex, no name breakers, particle board, staples, and an so many cut corners, just to save a few bucks. Third, multiple manufacturers are involved. Chassis maker blames coach body maker, and vice versa. Why are there so many lawsuits and lawyers working in the US RV industry. Look at Andrew's lovely Tiffin, particle board alone holding a heavy water tank. When it leaked, the tank fell out. It cost Andrew $2807 to replace the rotted out particle board. That is so typical. :(( I've seen so many examples of this chickenshit in the RV industry. I love the term 'plastic wrench.' If you don't do some of the work, you will pay far more than any house in maintenance. You made a good point about using quality repairs and parts, I couldn't agree more!
You differently need to be able to do some things yourself if you're going to own a coach
A guy I know selling hes for a $100k 91xl with 61.000. Miles on it 60 series
Prevost just makes the chassis, the Coach Builder is responsible for everything from the paint to the interior. I don't get the obsession with Prevost...several generations of those chassis are know for their panels on the sides delaminating and it cost a fortune to repair. I always laugh when I see someone running around an RV lot going, "Where's the Prevost?"
The problem you have is the year (2003) is a very old coach. Technology have changed so much and with the newest technology, most of those problems are over. I have a 2019 and I am have NO problems like what you have described.
