The first drive of my wrecked Ferrari F430 is here.. kind of. After buying this abandoned ex rental Ferrari from a track experience company myself and my dad have worked together to rebuild the Engine, Manual Gearbox & the full car & finally we have got it to a point where we can find out if all of it is actually going to work!

@@kubafalkowski97 Sure it’s exactly the same as a Dacia. All the parts are available at your local shop… no they aren’t since Ferrari stopped making parts for this model years ago. So now all you have to do is find those parts second hand. Oh, you say there were less than 500 of them ever made? Yup, just the same thing as a Dacia. Your mechanic can just look up online in the service manual to fix your car. Ferrari won’t sell you the manual for their engine, gearbox or other mechanical parts. You bet, it’s EXACTLY the same as fixing a Dacia lol.

I know you won’t see this but just wanted to let you know, just in case you do, that I legitimately feel that your channel is the absolute best on KZhead. Great team and great positive vibes. Was super stoked that you and your dad figured out that gearbox. Super impressive. My dad has forever been a car restoration guy (was actually a GM factory trained transmission expert back in the 60’s) so I’ve seen the internals of many transmissions and it always blew me away. So complicated. So awesome that you nailed it. I almost feel like part of the team watching your clips. Keep up the fantastic work. You inspire me to keep my projects going in the garage also. I have watched you, many videos, many times, the relationship you have with your dad is amazing, I had a similar relationship with my dad, he taught me so much, and then became my best mate. He passed earlier this year, I watch your vids with a tear in my eye now, you take care of him, there is only one, I lost my best mate in the space of 3 weeks.. cherish every second. Well done Matt's dad for the assistance in building the engine & gearbox, it's no mean feat when someone else has taken it apart. The look of supprise and jubilation when something works that you don't think will is just brilliant. Have some time off and enjoy Christmas with your family and frieds.
It is so good to see and your Dad laughing in to something so complex and yet you break it down to simple bits to “make things work” without the mystery that dealers would give an owner and justification of a £500 fee to change a washer jet. It is a joy to watch when something works first time out and I can understand the relief and joy that helps the dark times which we don’t see on the channel….not everything works like that! Keep going on the car and get it all sorted then a good test drive for January! Happy Christmas to you, your family and those who help you on these journeys! 😃😃😃😃
To get the air out of the system you need to: - Open the reservoir car. - Let it warm up near the operating temp (but not fully to leave yourself some room). - Turn the heat on max and small fan-speed (doesn't need to be full blast) - Rev the engine to around 2-3k rpm and hold it there for several seconds. You might need to repeat this step until all the air is out. PS. If there's air in the system that could mean that air pocket could be next to the rad temp sensor which I believe could prevent it from activating the 2nd fan despite the temp gauge in interior saying otherwise.

Awesome progress including how you figure out parts installation with minimal or no manual information! Figuring out the shifter linkage parts sourcing and assembly took real skill and determination! The car looks terrific!
Watching you work on all of these cars with your Dad makes me remember all of the good times i had working on & rebuilding cars with my Dad. They were the best of times. He was the best. Its been 16 years since he passed & i still miss him a lot. He was my best friend. That's why watching your videos reminds me of those times because i can tell your Dad is your best friend too. Enjoy every minute of it you two. I try to do the same with my Son & Daughter. I don't have the time to do big rebuilds & etc with my Kids but I do all of the maintenance on my 4 cars with them regularly. 2 of them are Mercedes AMGs, a motor swapped Fiero GT & a Ford Explorer Limited. But anywho I love your videos. 👍

Heater fans are indeed quite handy for detecting cooling issues. I had an inconsistent coolant leak in an old Almera years ago, and refilling the coolant might last for a day, or 3 months, you'd never know. But I could always tell when it was empty because the air from the blower would be freezing, and there was an ever so slightly different sound from the fans too, it was like a hollow echo sound.

Mat. Once you've got hold of that selector plate, take really good care testing out different length adjustments of the selector cables so you can change gear easily through that horrendous looking gate. It'll have a sweet spot somewhere and should click perfectly once set up right. Good luck.

Keep it up in these hard times. It might not look like it right now but the sun will shine! I rebuild smaller cars on the channel and disaster struck me also , but i use Mat's positivity also to keep moving forward. Hope you get it all sorted out! 💪

Just so you know Mat, you're now one of my 5 role models, amongst my dad, Elon and 2 successful business men. You're doing exactly what I want to be doing with my life and you're great at it, well done and thank you for the great content. By the way, there's some air that enters the coolant tank through the transparent hose before the coolant enters, when you open the vacuum valve thingy
Well done Mat, Tony & everyone who's had a hand in rebuilding this car. In anyone else's eyes this may have been junk, maybe barely a parts car but you guys have assembled a box of bits, added the necessary new parts and you have great sounding Ferrari. ... AND it's a manual. Time to complete the build and enjoy it a bit. Have fun. As always.

Seeing a new MA vid pop up in my feed always get my mood up. Love to see Matt give these amazing cars a second life with his dad and friends.
To me this is the new Top Gear for my generation (54). We have the presenters chemistry and laughter plus the technical knowledge combined with the fact that not everything goes to plan. The team are dealing with supercars but their is a history of other cars (like TV's Wheeler Dealers) so you see the progression of the series. Mat and the team work extremely hard and its his cash on the line not like the fake USA runbbish.
Been watching Matt for years!! Still absolutely gobsmacked everyone there’s a bench with a million parts in it and he and the crew just put it all together and 99% of the time it works as intended. Bloody brilliant as always…..

What I like about watching mat, is he takes us on a journey with these high performance cars from farrari to mclaren, these cars I dream of but never be able to afford, or drive let alone take pics of at some random show, showing us the pitfuls you come across, and then still laugh through it and then show us how you solved it. Keep up the content, so I can watch with a beer on a cold dark night and enjoy the rollercoaster you put us on with these cars.😁
