  • For non hockey people with questions: Rempe(73 blue) threw a bad hit on one of the Devils players last time they played, and refused to fight when MacDermid(23 white) tried to get him after. The Devils weren't happy about that so tonight Travis Green(Devils Coach) started his most physical players, and Peter Laviolette (Rangers coach) responded in kind. What you see in the video is the result of that 10 times out of 10, especially when the teams are rivals who just played a physical 7 games series in the playoffs last year.

    • This is great for the non hockey fans who will inevitably ask why People don't understand that hockey is dangerous, like, very dangerous, you can end someone's career with a "revenge" hit, letting the players fight is ironically a few pegs down the ladder in terms of possible violence in a hockey game

The Devils weren't happy about that so tonight Travis Green(Devils Coach) started his most physical players, and Peter Laviolette (Rangers coach) responded in kind. What you see in the video is the result 10 times out of 10, especially when the teams are rivals who just played a physical 7 games series in the playoffs last year.

During their second meeting this year one of the Devils’ players got leveled by that big kid Rempe (73) and the Rangers defenseman Trouba (8) and the Devils were not best pleased despite the hits being clean, if hard. Next meeting both teams upped the physicality until Rempe hit one of their guys, Siegenthaler, with a blatant elbow to the face and the Devils were kept from retaliating because Rempe was immediately rejected. The Devils coach, both still upset about the last two games and desperate for points as they’re outside looking in on the playoff picture, threw his most physical guys out there to spark a brawl and set the tone to get momentum on their side early, and the Rangers countered with four physical guys (and also Jimmy Vesey) as a way of saying “alright, let’s do this then” Tl;dr they hate each other and this is hardly the first time they’ve brawled like this.
