Even during Anita Sarkeesian's days, everyone readily ate up the premise that sexy female characters in games = bad for real women, when almost nobody could articulate why that is. Nobody wanted to admit they didn't really know. It sounded plausible enough to them and they trusted that others have good reasons. I think they also don't know why they're policing communities they're not a part of, but the original reason was likely that they wouldn't allow our tastes to be "normalized".

Not in the sense that this Common Cold+ would cause immense damage, but from the doommongering and damage the powers that be and their lackies would do instead. When a mailman in 1965 could provide for a family of six, including college, vacations and retirement, and now he cant, that isnt laziness or weakness. That is theft. Many people are grifting because effort is not worth it anymore. Im lucky. I got on the train in the 80s, when it was still possible. It isnt anymore. Socialism is in the mix now because of this. If Conservatives had not abandoned the economic train that was rolling for the middle class back in the 70s, and allowed this travesty to happen, we wouldnt be here. The social issues do not matter. The same way it always has right? Its worse than it was 4 years ago, and its worse than 4 years before that. Its just a matter of time, because we ain't going to stop, and they ain't going to stop. Followed by 4 years of dispair. It will take an other 10 years before we learn to stop putting idiots in power. Sociaty always resist change. If you were like me and just did your own thing and didn't care what anyone else was doing, wearing, watching, or playing, you would be viewed as an outcast. • I think you’ve nailed it. Normies just go with the mainstream talking point. In this situation they’ll say “why do you care?”, while in others say “people should make whatever they want”. They don’t go by the principle and apply it, they just latch on to whatever the current (safe) opinion is. Even when that constantly contradicts itself. If the censored ones were the default, no one would care because yeah they are still appealing. It’s the betrayal of principles that bugs fans, and in the west, we’re more sensitive to provocative things so that’s what usually goes first. Whereas other countries it’s violence. If Mortal Kombat stopped the gore, blood, or x-ray scenes, you could easily apply “why does it matter?” but they’d easily be butthurt. The “pr0n addict” equivalent would be “psychopathic murderer” because you’re watching gruesome scenes.

  • Under any other circumstance, the concept of a company altering what you bought, after you bought it, and against what was shown would get flak. And heck, it _did._ Crash Team Racing (remake) introduced micro-transactions a month after release. So all the reviews don’t mention it, and it wasn’t stated or in advertising. I think one of the directors said there were none too (interview before launch). However it was just costumes/characters, no gameplay advantages were sold. You could easily say “stop whining, it’s just costumes” but nobody did. Because people were deceived, and had that been announced prior, could’ve changed their purchasing decision.
