    • That happens a lot with cramps. There have been many similar cases: Wozniacki (Doha 2009, against Zvonareva), Bertens (Roland Garros 2020, against Errani)... A cramp like those is like being hit with a taser gun, an almost electrical shock through your body. It's extremely painful, but after the pain there's nothing broken, so you can still run and hit like before... just until the next cramp hits you.

      @rafarequeni822@rafarequeni8223 жыл бұрын
    • I’ve had full body cramps before and still been able to play. Basically it felt like to me that moving was able to work then somewhat out

      @Nfulks96@Nfulks963 жыл бұрын
    • No, it wasn't sad to watch. It was inspiring to watch. Cramps feel like a knife is being stuck in you. It is possible to make the cramp go away, by stretching and ingesting salts/electrolytes. However, realizing you are still at high risk for further cramps, the best strategy is to play aggressively and attempt to end points quickly, going for big winners. Makarova succeeded in this, I believe.

  • note on capriati vs serena: - she claims she didn't really look at the ball. first, she is clearly on camera looking at where serena's shot landed. second, she couldn't come up with a better lie? you're telling me you don't look at your opponents shot in tennis? third, she says serena won the game anyway so she doesn't know what the big deal was - serena lost that game. - it wasn't just the one bad call shown in this clip - there were at least 4 total incorrect calls, including an uncharacteristic overrule by the ump on the far sideline, an area the ump rarely overrules because the linesperson is just much closer to it - serena in her post-match press conference didn't blame her loss on the calls, saying she played poorly with many unforced errors - when capriati says she deserves a call once in awhile because she's had many bad calls against her - sorry but she is the type of player like wozniacki to always complain about something even when she's wrong. she did not deserve anything.

    • This was a very biased match by the umpire...She should have been fired. I think she did similar bad decisions in the 90s and is shamelessly arrogant in such situations. Capriati could have been a better sport ..she was awarded for points that belonged to Serena...I feel this match is one of the reasons Serena explodes at US open at times ( yes, Serena is wrong to overreact but I guess, it brings back memories of this match and she probably feels US officials are ganging against her)

      @alexandregodin6816@alexandregodin68163 жыл бұрын
    • Cibulkova was being dishonest af but that umpire was a complete clown. She can't make a decision based on simple gut feeling, since she admited she didn't remember what happened. She could have asked any of the linesmen but she clearly didn't want to deal with the embarrassment of correcting herself after dragging the discussion for so long.

  • The whole time out thing in tennis is a joke. It has been abused many times,a nd will always be abused if players can use it to their advantage.For those too young to remember, there was no such thing until the 90s, when a Japanese male player got cramps on the court, and lay there in agony for a few minutes until he could get up and continue. It was decided then that this was bad for the sport (don't know why, it made for exciting tv), and the time out thing was instituted. Mary Pierce once called for three separate timeouts in her semifinal at the US Open and got away with it...3 separate injuries to 3 separate parts of the body, each one used to slow the opponent down when she got hot.. Why should the opponent suffer because YOU are cramping because of the running the opponent made you do by her good play? Treatment could be allowed on changeovers only, and for only the duration of the changeover..start deducting a point for every 30 seconds beyond that. Michael Chang in 1989 continued to play while cramping during the French Open against the best player in the world at the time...and he pulled out a victory with an underhanded serve and a serve-return position that forced a double fault. And he got no treatment......

After that show by Azarenka she was ranning like a rabbit, Radwanska played some dropshot-lob-dropshot combo and Azarenka got to them easily and then after the points she started limping. And moreover, she Won the title the next day 6-1 6-2 vs Stosur (#6 back then). Really a disgusting person. And a lot of people critiziced Radwanska for the handshake...

Second there is no way the ball can go over the net like that had it only touched the racket. Third the umpire sitting like 2 meters from it. And then Zhu lin not admitting it.. absolutely blood boiling.. And the Serena call. I have no words.

  • For those saying it was not Capriati's call: she absolutely could have done the honourable thing and told the umpire that she saw the ball was in and gave Serena the point. Players can award the point to their opponent out of good sportsmanship. Djokovic has done it when a serve from the opponent was called out and he told the umpire it was in, and the umpire awarded the point to the apponent. Players have admitted to touching the net (even when the umpire didn't see it), giving the opponent the point. There are many players who have done the right thing, beyond the shitty players featured here who haven't. So, yes, that was an absolutely horrendous overrule by the umpire, AND Capriati could have helped make the case that the linesperson called it in.

Capriati could have been a better sport ..she was awarded for points that belonged to Serena...I feel this match is one of the reasons Serena explodes at US open at times ( yes, Serena is wrong to overreact but I guess, it brings back memories of this match and she probably feels US officials are ganging against her)
