Every time I see Wen Ke Xing, I'm filled with so much sorrow. This man is on edge, lost in grief, betrayed by his own memories, and battling with himself. The part where he cried out to Ah Xu, as if he couldn't bear the weight of it all, that crushed me.

I love how protective ZZS is of WKX. He started as a tsundere and now he's willing to do anything for him.
I kinda view ZZS as more introverted/shy....like he wasn't sure if WKX is being serious/truthful to him. But he realizes over series that WKX is always honest with him.
i think ZZS was technically more kuudere than tsundere but that's just me

That was the second time I cried floods of tears watching this drama. The first was when WKX smashed his flute in the rain. Gong Jun is SO knocking it out of the park with this series.
And he kept crying "too late ..." then said "sorry ..." to zzs before he lost consciousness. He knew he chose the wrong path, so wanted to keep this secret from zzs at all cost, thus at the same time it's eating him inside. Zzs actually already figured it out, but kept playing along for he knew wkx tried so hard not to let him find out. Aarrrgghhh ... these 2 love birds got my blood sugar level risen up drastically !!

36:35 the way i actually sobbed when WKX said "Ah Xu" as if begging, screaming for help, and announcing defeat at the same time after he said that Zhen Yan died together with them. that was SO heartbreaking.

He said Zhen Yan 'died' because (in the book) to save himself, he literally ATE his father. It was the only reason the Ghosts took him in; He proved that he was as insane and vicious as they were. And Ghosts are no longer human....so the human Zhen Yan 'died' that day.

A'Xiang has some quick survival skills honed from living in Ghost Valley. It makes you realize that WKX is the same way. Both of them on edge, ready to fight in a split second. WKX always has his fan (weapon) in his hand, ready to go. I love how the story uses A-Xiang to also give us a window into the mental state of WKX who is at this stage better at hiding his thoughts/feelings than she is. It is any wonder both of them can trust anyone. Feel sorry for them. At least they had each other growing up.

yess!! Some people say that this drama is only popular because it is yaoi but just like what you said it's not just that! It's the plot and characters and the fact that there's no cheap romance that makes it great! And plus I think the fighting scenes are cool as well :D This is a masterpiece no matter what...

@@selinazhang4971 Absolutely! The cinematography is beautiful and so so clever. There's the occasional cringy CGI like that dry "underwater" scene, but for the most part, it's minimal and cleverly applied. I love how re-watchable this show is because of all the hidden foreshadowing and the hidden references make it fun to analyze. The character relationships feel real and the banter is so witty. Even if I wasn't a total BL fangirl, I would love this show because it's just so well-done. My only complaint with it (besides the CGI) is that it starts rushing the plot around ep 26 and it feels like there's missing scenes, as if they had to push a few episodes together. I heard from another commenter that the show as originally pitched at 45 episodes, but they couldn't get the funding and had to drop down to 36. It feels that way toward the end.
Truly enjoying this drama. This drama is about love, friendship and trust. All characters are doing a fantastic job. Well done!

I wasn't emotionally prepared for WKX's breakdown. The way he kept saying too late and then he called Ah Xu's name. I was bawling.
Zhang Zhehan's acting is so effortlessly perfect in this episode. The jetty by the water conversation deducting and leaving things unsaid when we can see he knows; with Ah- Xiang and the liquor and his mortality looming; when dealing with Shen. ZZH really brought all the qualities of a friend, the Master of Assassins intelligence, leadership and more in this episode. He deserved an award for his acting in Word of Honor.
