Today Maria is making strawberry jam and a berry pie that her sister brought her. Maria lives alone in the Ukrainian mountains of the Carpathians, today for the first time in a long time guests came to her.
I love watching this woman. Everything she does is meaningful. She pauses to view her beautiful surroundings, she cuts fresh flowers, she knits, takes wonderful care of her animals and she is a boss in the kitchen. I have a feeling that she is going to live a long, healthy, prosperous life.
Also she is a devout catholic and looks middle age, though I haven’t seen a husband or children

I agree, but what impresses me the most is how she is working with the two fruits that stain cloth more than any other, without wearing an apron over her white clothes.

In the garden, in the kitchen, in the fields picking berries, on the rivers edge, and makes no difference where Maria will cook, she is an expert at what she does. I really believe she is one of God's favorites. To top it all off I noticed that loom. She is simply unbelievable and I know you are so so proud of her. She has a BIG HEART, that's for sure. Never??? This thing is quite usual when you have fruits it have to be prepared for winters.. here in Europe we used to do this even without gardens, we buy fruit on the market..or vegetables for pickled vegetable...and we just prepare them for the long winters

Mis abuelos eran ucranianos… ellos siempre están ocupadas haciendo cosas … nunca se lo veía aburridas… sabían hacer de todo bien y hermoso. Tejían, cosían bordaban cocinaban de maravillas era un deleite ir de vacaciones a sus casas, en la provincia del Chaco, Argentina. Tenían la cocina económica de hierro hacían dulce de durazno, naranjas, etc. Todo muy parecido a la cultura de esta dama.

I have professional training and the speed at which she works is kind of a "tell." Hospitality work experience in a previous life, at least. But this doesn't diminish Maria's talent or skill at all.
