"Infinity Boa" wood and resin power carving, resin art demonstration by Dan Preece. Artforour.org
In honor of the 2 years I spent in Brazil...
"Infinity Boa" is a resin and wood carving that measures 15 x 11 inches, created with power carving techniques. This abstract carving reminds me of a wood and resin boa constricter. Finished with teak oil.

Beautiful piece. I can definitely see the boa constrictor. It always amazes me when I watch an artist reveal the design/image from a solid mass.

Love it! If you do one again, maybe carve the head of the snake eating its own tail. That would be very symbolic of what child abuse is like.

I'm quite new to your channel and love all your pieces of art! The powertool you describe at the beginning reminds me at these special grinders some Vets use to work on horses teeth.

I think this is my favorite piece so far. I love the colors. I just love the form the way it moves… and it does remind me of a boa as well. It’s just awesome. Great job! I love the purpose of your channel!

Your work is beautiful just beautiful but I do have question why do you not put any shellac on your pieces bring out the shine ? I've been watching the work for quite a while now and have found everything you've made to be beautiful and I wish I had enough money to buy a piece or two but I don't so just looking at him when you make them brings me joy.

This is pretty awesome. It's very difficult to figure out what goes where and how to cut what off. You did a fantastic job. Oh my goodness. I thought it looked like a snake, too. Some of the bigger things on it. That's too funny
Thank you! www.artforour.org/currentauctions
A wonderful work!
Thank you! Much appreciated. ArtForOUR.org
Dan, I have seen some similar things by a few others. Most have made it in segments and glued the final work together. I think yours is the first one I have seen made from start to finish as a single piece! Well Done!! It came out looking great. Looking forward to what you make next.
Thank you very much! www.artforour.org/currentauctions
I'm a beginner woodturner with an old school furniture background and appreciate your learning on the fly techniques. You can't learn without trying! With your dusty turning, carving and sanding come-to-life dreams, have you tried any of the powered air filtration masks?
I've tried a few and the noise drove me crazy! 😀 Artforour.org
beautiful work
Thank you very much! www.artforour.org/currentauctions
...first, the piece is flat out gorgeous...you are truly an artist!...👍 Now, you may already know this, but when working with a 'motor', you need to know its duty cycle...for example, years ago I was contracted by a company to complete a project that had been started, using their equipment. After burning up a powered screwdriver, I looked at its duty cycle...10 minutes on, 30 minutes off (THAT was not going to cut it). I brought it to their attention but they were not concerned...I burned out two more before completing the project. Of course, a duty cycle rating of 'continous' is best...you may find the first rotary tool had something less... Matt
Thank you very much! www.artforour.org/how-you-can-help
If you decide to use colored resin, you could save some of your ribbons and put it in clear resin by itself or with wood. I’ve seen others do that and you can come up with some real pretty pieces that way too. I’ve seen some that’s even save some of the wood shavings to put with colored resin.
I truly enjoy your art work and videos. Now for my stupid question - knowing nothing about resin - could you have used your model as your form? That is pour the resin into the foam molds you formed into chain links and after the resin cured cut the foam off.
That's not a bad idea... except i didn't know what i was going to do with my bucket of left over resin until years after i started saving it... 😀
Very well done Dan. Is there any way your mind can work out a wood/resin vase, rainbow color with big puzzle pieces scattered on the outside for Autism? Bet it would look really cool and sell big for your cause
I've actually thought about a puzzle piece type of vase . . Great idea! Artforour.org
This piece is being sold at: ArtForOUR.org To raise money to fight child trafficking around the world.
Those ants sound like the cleaner ants we have here in Panama. They enter your house by the bazillions, marching through anything they can access. They find spiders, dead bugs, pieces of meat left in the dog dish, and then as quickly as they came, they are gone. This happens once or twice a year. I made a video called "Home Invasion" on my channel.
Wow! Artgivinghope.org
Hi I love your work and I live California. I was wondering if you wound like some Abalone shell to try in your work. I can send It to you.
That's a cool idea... I'll have to think about how i would use them!
That’s pretty awesome Dan! Great use of leftover materials. How many hours did you have in this project? Sheesh!
Thank you! I have no idea... 10 to 15 maybe? 😀
@@artgivinghope amazing as always!
Woohoo Dr Dan truely amazing piece of art. How long did you spend on it??? I have one those ball gouge I use it to carve out bonsai pots and coat then in resin, brilliant German engineering. Ernie smith from brisbane Australia
Thank you! Hard to say... 10 hours maybe?
Hi Dan. I love what you do and would like to offer my platter for this if I'm allowed? It's cottonwood burl. How do we proceed ??
Hi Rex! We'd love to work with you. Here's the link for donations... www.artforour.org/getinvolved
What about a Dremel for those small things?
Not a bad idea, but not powerful enough for this size of piece...
You find a mini orbital please post. I need one bad
Will do! Artforour.org
I would love to know the price for this. I absolutey love it!
Thank you so much Yvonne! Here's the current auction: www.artforour.org/currentauctions
@@artgivinghope I sincerely love your work That is why I donate what I can, The window concept is facinating, but this piece is just mind boggling!!!! The link you sent for auction is going nowhere. Is there another link? xo

Are Dremel products too smallor too light weight. Not sturdy enough?
Yes too all... they are only good for very fine work....
Anaconda if I've ever seen one. Well done Sir.
Thanks Larry! Agreed! www.artforour.org/currentauctions
Wow, but that s very dificult way for this
It's the only way if you intend for it to be part solid wood and part resin. Artforour.org
Great video but just fyi, your sound level is way too low. Right click on the video and then select *Stats for Nerds* and you'll see that your sound level is at *-16.1dB* which is way too low of a volume.
