In this week’s woodturning video, I turned a giant black locust or acacia log into a stunning live edge or natural edge vase. Carefully turned on my woodturning lathe and used a sand blaster to nice clean up the rough edges. Turning such a large and deep project take time and patience to ensure the best possible result and finish can be achieved. Sanded two 400 grit and finished with mineral oil to pop the stunning grains

  • Really other-worldly. Excellent job. My hands and wrists would be throbbing for days after working on something like that.

  • A piece like that looks like it's very hard on the tools, constant -re-sharpening? I really expected that piece to go into a bucket of resin before more turning and polishing, I'm glad you didn't do that.

  • I was so happy that you didn't put this into resin. It was quite an ugly piece of wood and you made it beautiful and really interesting without taking away from the wood. It didn't look like an easy job either... very difficult actually. I love the natural look. Thank you.
