Ollie and a friend are visiting, and it's the first time this year we eat outside again. We take a walk around the neigbourhood. I'm tapping birch sap, make a new fire pit, finish the inside window frames, pick up fences and fix the outdoor kitchen.

What made me most happy this week is seeing Johannes sitting inside comfortably in your home while you prepared the food. Such a simple view but so enjoyable after all the times you have done the same in his home.
It was kind of like a come full=circle moment. Martijn can finally invite guests for lunch and cook them delicious pizzas!
I thought the same - such patience to everything and then finally having a chance for such an evening. So awesome.
While I obviously don't know him personally and have never met him, I really like Johannes...his personality, his attitude, his giving helping spirit...I hope to see more of his adventures on his channel....

@MatsGarage Enjoy his videos. Reminds me of a time when I tagged along grown ups busy at work. Also I wish it would of been more acceptable in my time to take carpentry and trade classes, but we didn't have the right instructors. It was so hard getting through regular classes without harassment.

A lovely dinner party for 4! How nice to see everyone in the warmth of the cabin, enjoying a pizza from the oven. The gorgeous new chair, like the ornate outdoor faucet, the new mirror above the basin, the hardware for the arched doorway, really models Martijn's aesthetic for the cabin. Martijn is like his grandfather, a creative drive informed by an eye for beauty. Martijn's grandfather built whole working steam engines from scratch. Martijn is building a beautiful life from the scratch of Val Pellice. The gift to us is that we get to watch!

@@julielumsden5184 When a chicken is given a name, it can make it harder to kill it when the time comes for it to go into the oven or the pot.
Alway enjoy the chickens following Martin. Amazed at the deep green in the valley. Birds in background make me happy. The firepit will be a nice addition.

I love to hear the chickens talking to each other. Their voices are so melodic. My chickens, like yours, follow me like puppies.
Spent most of my week in hospital. Watching your video took some of the weight I was feeling away. It is easy to get wrapped up in our own drama and lose the peace that sustains us. Like many others I love the details, door hardware, the fire pit drawings, chickens begging (so cute). But my favorite thing of the week... Watching you and "the guys"on your walk around the neighborhood. and gathering in your cabin for food. The feeling of peace began to return some hope to my soul. Thank you Martijn. I like that Johannes and Martijn both go about their own way, when needed they connect and work together. And for the rest the friendship is not like they need to see each other every day. I think in times of need you can count on both man. Johannes is a more experienced man living in the mountains being Austrian. So i think it is wise for Mathijs and Ollie to listen to him when he explains things and also living longer in Italy and in that area so he is a good resource for help and info.
Gotta love when visitors come to the mountain and hangout with Martijn(he’s so happy when others visit)

A while ago, i mentioned that the small section in front of the door could be a nice spot to build a sitting area to drink coffee in the morning. And probably adding an L shape guard rail to make it look nicer. I'm glad you are planning to do something similat. Is going to look real nice!

So nice to see the trees leafing out, but it's still not too warm to use the indoor oven. And it did my heart good to see that the dog who comes to visit once in a while has a home. Such a special place and I love the birdsong in the mornings. The two hens are so funny as they run after him. I have watched the transformation since the start, Martijn bought a stone hut and he is turning it into a wonderful home. His designing and building skills are outstanding. I'm tellin ya. My life alone here in New Hampshire. Sometimes I feel alone. But I try to be creative. My current focus is Motorcycles. This is crazy because I am 70 years old. But always. Be creative. I have had a fire pit design on the books like yours for many years. But then I found a 20 inch piece of 15 inch round 3/8th inch pipe at the steel scrapyard ~ on stones. A "rocket stove." That's been fun. There you are with your elevation. Wow. So sweet. ~ And the sap gathering. Just great. Thank you so much for sharing all of this. ~ Steve from New Hampshire.

What a pleasure to see the green and bulbs emerging, see the small creatures reappearingand to hear the birdsong. To visit for awhile feels like I've been on holiday, and all the while tucked up in bed before dawn in a New Zealand Autumn. Blissed out and ready for the day. Thankyou Martijn.
I've been in cities since I was 13, but never forgot the indescribable inner peace and serenity that being truly out in nature and knowing a piece of land gives. It's a shame so many city folk have no idea. In a few years when I'm 40 I'm planning to give up the rat race and semi retire and find the beauty in these videos again.
