  • The ecological impact wolves had on Yellowstone since they returned is absolutely remarkable. It’s a hugely inspirational story and shows why wolves are so important in our ecosystems.

  • Cold weather and snow will help preserve food well, but it can't keep away predators like crows, eagles or bears. Therefore, wolves need to quickly kill their prey

  • Hmm European carrion crow (Corvus corone) vocalizations starting at 3:07. Either Yellowstone had some vagrant crows from Europe or someone in the BBC’s sound dubbing department got lazy. Also lots of American crow calls heard and not a single one on sight, I only saw ravens and magpies.

    @kaz6916@kaz6916Ай бұрын
    • I think I also heard a Eurasian magpie rattle in there too. Pretty sure American magpies don’t rattle

      @theotheseaeagle@theotheseaeagleАй бұрын
    • Both American birds have a type of rattle that I've heard. It sounds like they dubbed with local recordings to me, but I'll listen again more closely. They got the eagle correctly. If you haven't heard American birds, the Cornell bird website has a good library of bird calls & songs.

      @asktheanimals@asktheanimalsАй бұрын
    • @@asktheanimals American magpies make a short rasping call similar to a crow in pace whilst Eurasian magpies make a longer drawn out “drrrrrtrtrtr”

  • Need to learn your animals before dubbing in fake sound effects. Those were Ravens, not Crows, and Coyotes don't snarl or whine when feeding by themselves 🤨

    @mikeporemba4801@mikeporemba48017 күн бұрын
  • Shocking that even BBC Earth cant get the dubbed bird calls to match the species- they have used Black-billed Magpie plus American Crow calls at the wolf kill but there are only the magpies and Ravens in the scene. No Raven calls!?
