In November 2019, the BBC's Newsnight arranged an interview between Andrew and presenter Emily Maitlis in which he recounted his friendship with Epstein for the first time. In the interview, Prince Andrew says he met Epstein in 1999 through Maxwell; this contradicts comments made by Andrew's private secretary in 2011, who said the two met in "the early 1990s". The Duke also said he did not regret his friendship with Epstein, saying "the people that I met and the opportunities that I was given to learn either by him or because of him were actually very useful".
Scoop is a 2024 British biographical drama film directed by Philip Martin and starring Gillian Anderson, Keeley Hawes, Billie Piper and Rufus Sewell. It is a dramatic retelling of the process of securing the 2019 BBC television interview of Prince Andrew by presenter and journalist Emily Maitlis and the production team at the BBC Two news and current affairs programme Newsnight. The screenplay by Peter Moffat and Geoff Bussetil is adapted from the 2022 book Scoops: Behind the Scenes of the BBC's Most Shocking Interviews by former Newsnight editor Sam McAlister. The film was released on 5 April 2024 on Netflix.

    • I'm not an Andrew-phile, but to be fair, while the press doesn't have oodles of pics of him at small number dinner parties, they do have loads of pics from open parties, and use those pics endlessly to build what, under normal circumstances, might be a perception he'd enjoy... emphasising that he's a social success, part of "the jet set". This skews the perception of his lifestyle, doesn't it? ... we start with a feeling he's spoiled and rich, and accrue evidence to back that mindset?

Even if a 17 was the one actually pursuing things a grown man should say no and understand a child of that age doesn't always make the right choices. This happened in america where the age is 18 and just because something is legal doesn't make it morally right. A child who has been sexually abused sometimes become promiscuous bc they believe that's all they had going for them. A adult shouldn't take advantage of that. • Tyne Side ......yes, I wondered the same thing. It’s highly unlikely Andrew will get anything worse than a “slap on the wrist” since the Palace has already vehemently denied his involvement or any “wrongdoing”. To the best of my knowledge, the Queen has the final say over the Police, Armed Forces and so on, therefore, Andrew is quite likely safe from prosecution. I suspect the Royals have a great many skeletons in their closets’ from which they’re apparently immune. Unless Ghislaine Maxwell is tried and convicted, the main “players” in this sordid little tale have virtually gotten away with their appalling goings on. To see how Epstein was “housed” for his laughably short stint in jail was ludicrous, he had access to whatever his tiny, perverse heart desired. Meanwhile, countless women have had their lives’ all but destroyed, at the very least, they’re scarred for life. It’s about time these “celebrities” paid the Piper.

      @lindadote@lindadote3 жыл бұрын
    • wardaldo69 ......indeed. The Queen doesn’t even need a Passport to travel. God alone knows what they’ve gotten away with (Diana?) but it must be comforting to know your “say” in matters is final. Andrew was dubbed “Randy Andy” about 40 years ago yet the Palace denies everything once again.

Sometimes people meet up, it doesn't mean they know anything about who someone is decades later, if they ever did at all. Were this Family Court, on balance of probability she groomed Prince Andrew in her capacity as heiress to the mysteriously deceased media mogul Robert Maxwell. I note the body language of the commentators is decidedly shifty.

It is clear he is highly narcissistic, though whether it was a natural trait or one born of environment(being raised as a "royal" and all that entails) is unclear. In any case, both the sociopath and the narcissist often believe themselves to be the smartest person in the room, perhaps he felt he could "handle" the interviewer and the interview.
