Full coverage from the Lavant Cup at Goodwood; a special race to commemorate 60 years of the MGB. Coverage shows the first start that lead to a red flag, then the re-start and the rest of the race.
I hope to make a second video in a few day's time with commentary and some views of the assembly area etc.
Racing at Goodwood certainly was a real honour; it was something that I thought I would never get to do.
Thanks to everyone that dropped by to see me at Goodwood, I hope to be at MGB60 this weekend (25-09-22) please do drop by and say hello!

Great video! I love those images from the onboard cameras, especially the fancy footwork! Well done, and many thanks for the entertainment, especially the two hairy moments!!
Many thanks!
Man! Well done, again excellent camerawork
The MG race reminded of the green bottles sitting on the wall song. Hairy stuff!!! Thanks for sharing.👍
Epic day and a clean run.
Great onboard camera work!
Many thanks; glad you enjoyed it
A nice drive David and well done for keeping out of trouble.
Many thanks John
Brilliant !!! Simply Brilliant !!!
Jolly Good Fun !!!
I see from your cylinder head removal video a Webber twin choke and a tubular exhaust manifold. What else has been done to the engine (capacity, cam , compression ratio etc) Probably wouldn't want to go this wild for ordinary road motoring , but I'd appreciate the info
Thanks for your message, the page here has most of the details www.britishracecar.com/DavidRussellWilks-MG-MGB.htm. Capacity has been reduced to 1840cc the comply with the series regs.
Great racing! Both of those accidents looked almost intentional haha.
i have a bgt... ive suddenly realised it doesnt have to be slow.......
Your car rips! 😊
Thanks Dave!
Amazing video XX...... Im just curious.....was that a "Thumbs Up" to Ed for overtaking you ???? lol ;-)
Thanks for your message Ollie, I knew Ed had a bad start and was quicker than me, I was happy to let him go and see if he could make some places up.
great video ! what kind of car is #97 ? I want one !
WSM 1963 Custom modified MGB driven by Tony Wilson-Spratt son of the designer. You want one? Get in line : ) I have wanted one of these since I bought my first MG back in 1964. I have a 63 B... sorely tempted to gut it and build a "tribute" WSM.
Thanks Michael, #97 is a WSM bodied MGB, I believe there is only one. www.wsmcars.com/WSM%20-%20The%20HistoryPart2.html
I passed the link on to some friends and one responded with the following; “That looks like a lot of fun. I wish I could see the tach. It sounds like they really wind those motors up high.” Can you give us an idea what kind of RPM’s you might be running at? Thx David.
Thanks for your message Bruce, max revs are 7200, peak power is around 6800
Good race. Was car #97 a WSM dicing with you?
Yes, Tony Wilson-Spratt (his father designed the car) caught and passed me in the closing stages.
@@davidrussellwilks Fantastic, what a thrill to be in the same class in the same race with the son of the designer of the famed WSM. . I am green with envy. You put up a good "fight".
