    • I think personally the reason the Czech team is doing so well after the blowout against Slovakia is Rulik's presence. He is at this world cup analysing the games, so I believe he is in close contact with the coaching team. For those who don't know Rulik, he is the former coach who won the silver medal last year and is currently the head coach of the men's team for the upcoming World Cup in Czech Republic.

    • It always weirds me out, every tournament in Scandinavian countries is like this. I dont get it, its not like hockey is unpopular there.. i remember few years back WC in finland, over half of the matches seemed totally empty (even the good ones)

    • @@Agreveby you are right, canadiens show up. Last year it was electritc.. Personally i went to see Sweden vs Latvia one time and it was sold out, in Bratislava (not even playoffs). And overal games had higher attendance. me personally, I would go to any international game, maybe im just biased from my experiences. But i did notice it especially in Finland. Its a shame! Maybe iihf needs better marketing? Rethink their ticket prices? Either way, its a bad look for the sport

    • @@loilt5091 Why are some Canadian fans so pressed? I’m 38 and have watched the WJC every year since I was kid. This is supposed to be a fun tourney for the kids. Obviously I want the USA to win, but it is really about the spirit of the game. I’m glad there is parity this year and if the USA can’t win I would like to see the host nation win. Especially since the Swedes have never done that before. I grew up playing hockey, but that doesn’t matter either. It’s a game and it is supposed to be fun. It’s not that serious haha.     • fwiw, my guess is hockey is ~7th most popular sport in the US, and historically very regional (Northeast/ Midwest), but it is growing in popularity with NHL expansion teams in southern locales. The spread (+5.5) was a bit disrespectful to Czechia...perhaps influenced by the Slovakia game...wish I threw down some $. Best game of the tourney so far for sure.@@Sokol17029
