White has a checkmate in 2 moves here but the solution is not obvious. Can you find it?

Fairly easy but still educational. These zugzwang puzzles are nice because they force you to look at the opponents move rather than just what you would like to do.
Agreed.
This took me a couple of minutes. On a scale of increasing difficulty from 1 to 5 I'd give it a 2. As others have commented, I think your mix of problems is nicely varied and well-balanced, so keep doing what you're doing!
Relatively easy, but it feels good to be able to solve some puzzles every now and then!
All your offerings have been very educational. Don't change a thing!
I like all levels of difficulty; the very difficult ones I usually don't even try but watch for entertainment, since you choose such beautiful puzzles. You've been doing a good mix, checkmate in 2 is always a nice challenge to actually try to solve since the possibilities are limited, but keep bringing the hard ones too!
To solve this problem we have to determine the possible mates: If the a-pawn moves, Q-a6#; if the e-pawn moves, Qxf3#; and if the Nf3 moves, Q-f8#. And then find a square for the queen, where those 3 fields are accessible... There is one move left.
Nice. Sort of a reverse-engineering approach.
Two move mate puzzles are easier to solve, but elicits more rapid and critical thinking. The mix should be okay👍
I enjoy the puzzles and presentation very much. Typically if a puzzle is a 2-mover, I see one or more three-move solutions and get distracted trying to save one line. Same for 3-movers, etc. You show how to quickly dismiss the lines that do not work and help sharpen my focus on the task. In this case, the key move does not threaten anything, but whatever Black move is played, White is in a position to take advantage. Thanks again.
It was easy, but I wouldn't say too easy. Rather, the easy end of an accessible mix.
I've been watching your videos for several weeks now, so I'm getting better at solving these puzzles. I got this one fairly quickly. Keep it up, this is fun!
This is typical difficulty for your channel. I did not get it but found it interesting. I personally would prefer slightly easier, but I don't know about most of your viewers.
It's neither too easy nor too hard. I like a range of difficulties, personally. The more important thing is that I get a kick out of it when I spot (or understand) the idea, and that was the case here. I looked at the correct move fairly quickly because a6 or a5 obviously defeats most tries, but the moment I spotted that Qxf3# was available if Black plays e3 was nice.
I’m a total novice; could not find this solution but I still enjoy your hardest puzzles. Variety is key I say keep mixing it up. Thanks for all the content.
I like a mix of hard and easy ones, just as you're doing. Remember you can't please everyone.
Great puzzle as usual. Keep them coming. I've never been disappointed.
Good enough, but let me tell you: I enjoy the ones that are either just beautiful (regardless of difficulty level) or just a little bit more difficult than that one (with more peaces on the board makes it more fun and challenging to my mind !). Suggestion 1: you can think of doing something similar to the sudokus, rank your videos according to your grid or a grid of difficulty level. Eventually (suggestion 2), you can move on from "end game" puzzle to "middle game" puzzle.
Right on spot Sir! Took me 3 minutes to solve, process of elimination. Great content 🎉
On the spot for my level. Thank you!
I saw the mate in 3, and would have taken it, but the puzzle was instructive and entertaining. Keep on keepin'on!
The first thought is K-b1, but then the knight can check.
The level of difficulty is just right.
Easy. Play the right move, and Black dies instantly no matter what move he makes.
Your puzzles are really really good. If at all anything is slightly easier or simpler are these 2 move puzzles. Mostly because its already asked to checkmate in 2 and we look in that direction. Its still not easy but these difficulty level is really good. You are just brilliant as usual to bring out the best ones. Thank you very much and God bless you
Agree on everything you wrote ❤
About right level I really like the way you talk through the various options
First I wanted to move the rook for Qh8. but I immediately noticed the pawn move. So there's only one mate space left, find the way. not very easy, but not too difficult either. fits me perfectly. thank you, great work, subscribed!
I like a variety. Simple ones I feel I can approach. More difficult ones I admire the elegance and perhaps I'll solve them some day.
Brilliant as always!
fairly easy but I watch your channel for entertainment and I do not have a lot of time. so the short ones are fine with me.
At first I thought it was easy, instinctively thinking Q h1 to threaten Q h8 # if the Knight stayed put and Q x e4 # if Black played either of the moves N h2 or N h4 to prevent Q h8 #. But then I watched the rest of the video and realised I'd overlooked the moves a6 or a5 on Black's part. What I've learned: If I think it's easy then I've probably missed a trick and failed to notice something important.
I grew up on White to Move and Mate in 3 (or 4) moves. But I'm on the M/GM end of the spectrum. I think 2-3 moves is pretty appropriate for KZhead engagement. 4 can challenge someone for an afternoon (or longer) :)
keep doing what you do! good mix.
Qf1! Only 3 pieces can be moved by black. The a-pawn, e-pawn, and the knight. If a6 then Qxa6#, if a5 then Qa6#, if e3 then Qxf3#, and any knight move is met with Qf8# 😁
This was hard but I guessed the first move right.
If you make all puzzles equal difficult then you will loose some of us. Example: Lets assume there are 3 levels of difficulty, and we (me and other followers) are equally split into 3 groups, one for each level. Then - if you chose to go for level 2 - then you will loose 2/3 of us (level 1 and 3). I prefer the "matt in two" puzzles, and I prefer that I don't know the difficulty level when I start the puzzle.
I saw this recently, only on a different channel and mirrored upside down (left and right).
yea i saw it in the channel ChessFinalZero why he copy it?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe this also works if you move the Queen to h1 instead; You’re threatening queen to h8 and mate; and the only moves black can do to block this are knight to h2 or h4; in which case the white queen takes pawn on e4 with checkmate
I talk about that at around 1:12 into the video. Black can move his a-pawn to a6 or a5 and create an escape square at a7. This is something we need to cover also and the key move given is the only move that does that.
Cool puzzle. I tend to make games longer than they need to be and not seeing some direct mates.
Rather easy! I found the solution easily!! Good example anyhow!
It's good but the difficulty level is not an issue for me, I like artistic, original ideas.
on a scale from 1-10 (1 is very, very easy, it is about 6). In reality I got the keymove within 1 second, the approval around 5 seconds. In this short time, because you trained me very well.
it is good enough... i found the position of the queen, but didnt realize what would happen if the E pawn moves. nice puzzle
Not too easy. I saw a number of the not-quite-right moves but missed the brilliant correct Qf1 move!
Level of difficulty - Optimal.
I couldn’t see it, but I appreciate the zugzwang solution!
Missed it! 😢
I did not find it until I heared the word "Zugzwang". Fram that I found the solution. 🙂 Nice Puzzle!
Good one.
I don't usually comment but I'll do it this time since you asked. I took a couple of minutes...one a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give it a 5...looks impossible at first so that part is great but not a lot of potential moves makes you solve it relatively quickly.
hard enough. I forgot about zugzwang. By not thinking everything, I don't figure it out before I see the solution.
Nice little puzzle. Got it after 5-10 mins
Very simple, but for some reason took me a while to find...which I guess means maybe I can't call it simple!
This is the perfect difficulty for me, I was able to solve it but it was still challenging.
I just had to prepare for black playing a6, and there was but one move to consider.
Nice. Right level for me
Nice .. Qf1 .. no matter what black moves it's mate. Either a6, f3 or f8. Harder plz ..
Need middle game strategies
On the easy side, because I got it. I like them all.
Took me about 7 minutes, I'd say it was hard for me, I almost gave up.
Many are too hard, but this is good level
Well, I admit, I didn't get it right. Too hard for me; I didn't see that knight move to checkmate on f8.
Easy-to-medium difficulty. Too difficult or too many figures on the board are my "pass".
just awaring a6(or a5) then found Qf1
Very easy but it was good
A little difficult, but I'm not a strong player.
Just right for me
Trivial
A bit on the easy side.
I found a mate in 52 moves!
just right
Fairly easy
Didn't we see this before?
I figured it out so its probably too easy.
Quite easy
Easy one
Ok but on the easy side
Took 5 mins to solve
