On October 18th, 2017, after a busy day of promotional interviews in New York City, Billie Eilish met with Vanity Fair to discuss the 15-year-old’s breakthrough success. On October 18th, 2018, after a long day of pre-tour rehearsals, Billie spoke with VF again to answer the exact same questions and look back at a time capsule of her answers from last year. Her Instagram follower count grew from 257K to 6.3 million. She went from playing crowds of 500 fans to playing arenas for more than 40,000. See how Billie’s life changed over the last year.

    • I know this video isn't about Kpop but your username made me want to make an observation about it. Imagine how sad Kpop idols are, I can't even imagine. At least western artists like billie can express themselves and be raw. She is blatantly sad and she swears and she uses her music to express herself.     • thebestvids depression is a hard thing and it cant always be a way out of it. Therapy doesnt always help and it can be a thing through the rest of your life. Just saying this because people can think so lightly of depression when its a serious thing and it shouldnt be thought of as something light and easy to get rid of.

  • In 2018 she just looks so sad. Like a whole different person. She sounded like she was on the verge of tears every time she spoke, every time she blinked. The fame isn't healthy and there's nothing she can do, she's helpless. And that makes me feel helpless.. No one can help her, she's stuck. And she's a whole other person to the bubbly 15 yr old she was a year ago.. This made me cry. Alot.. Edit: I legit wrote this at 2 in the morning and I wake up with over 500 likes, Jesus Christ! I never get likes and usually I don't really care but now I know that I'm not the only one that can see her pain..

  • She's 16, that's one of the most difficult stages of puberty and growing up, and on top of all that she's famous. People are constantly either worshiping her or saying vile, repulsive things about her. I couldn't imagine how much that fucks with someone's emotions before they're even emotionally mature enough to know how to handle it. When I first watched this I got that edgy "im 16 and my life is the hardest" vibe, but if I was in her position at that age I wouldn't be in a very good state of mind either. Hopefully the manipulative, greedy hollywood influences in her life don't absolutely suck the life out of her by the time she's 18.

  • I don't know if it's the way Vanity Fair made the video, but I actually sense more sadness in the second interview. I feel like she is probably living a very adult life, and even though it may seem that she can handle it, I am not sure that any 16 year old is able to make the choice to live life that way. But she is still a great singer.
