San Diego, California (April 9, 2024) - For over four decades the Toyota 4Runner has
built an undeniable reputation for adventure. Ready to tackle tough terrain, the 4Runner
has established itself as an off-road icon in North America. For 2025, an all-new Toyota
4Runner takes that identity forward. Staying true to its original concept as an extremely
capable, dynamic, and durable off-roader, the 2025 4Runner opens the window to
bigger worlds with a bold new look, a refined interior with premium materials and
technology, nine grades that include the first-ever Trailhunter and Platinum models, and
Toyota’s latest safety innovations.
The all-new sixth generation 4Runner also raises the bar in terms of go-anywhere
capability. For the first time 4Runner will be available with Toyota’s 2.4 liter turbocharged
i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain, standard on the TRD Pro, and first-ever Trailhunter and
Platinum grades. A 2.4 liter four-cylinder i-FORCE engine will be available on the SR5,
TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road and Limited grades. It will also come with 2WD, part-time 4WD
or Full-time 4WD, and an available Stabilizer Bar Disconnect Mechanism.
“This all-new 4Runner has incredible versatility and capability that nicely rounds out our
truck family,” said Dave Christ, Toyota group vice president and general manager. “We’ve
sold over 3 million 4Runners over the past 40 years, and this sixth-generation model
offers a cool new look and incredible features yet retains the rugged style and capability
our customers love about this adventure icon.”
The trailhunter's spec in this vid is incredible. The bronze on the dark teal is so sick
You know you can always take them bronze wheels and replace them with what you want!
I haven't really been into the whole truck thing before, but I have to admit the Trailhunter Tacoma and 4Runner look amazing
I can tell. The real amazing one are the sr5 and off road that you build yourself.
@@brucey5585 thing is 10 years ago I'd get the taco SR5 and mod it, but now trailhunter makes so much sense to me.
@@brucey5585nope. I don’t have time to do all that, but I do have the money to buy this one.
Im 20 years old and i have nowhere near enough money to buy a new vehicle, but in maybe 5 years' time, ill definitely be looking for one of these used, especially if I've got a family by then.
buy a good used 5th gen. you won’t regret it.
Man, that’s the coolest thing since this year!
They've done it, and will sell every single one they can build. Tough choice between the Trailhunter and TRD Pro.
Let me go get that second job 😂. I love the trailhunter already. I hope it's not marked to the heavens by dealerships 😊
Toyota is killing it with their new designs. Gorgeous SUV. Now they just need to change the looks of Tundra, which is the ugly one in family now.
Agree
16:40 Probably the TRD Off Road Premium or TRD Sport Premium trim level. Hopefully get to see those two soon...
This is a very well done vehicle. I like that marble looking material on the dash.👌
So many people hate on the Limited. It's full time 4WD which was the best choice for me; it handles great on the road. Not everyone wants or needs to go off-roading. The 4Runner's versatility should be lauded, not bashed. People with different needs can use it for what they want. I for one can't wait to see what the Platinum trim offers!
You are right. Personally I prefer the limited or platinum version as well
I came from wachting the phone unboxing video to luxury watches Now i am into car 😳😍 Toyota ❤
When I saw the Trailhunter Flared fenders in black. My first thought was... and Ford, couldn't design this look in the retractable fenders, for the New Bronco? Just another reason why Toyota's a top 5 auto brand globally. And Ford's maybe #15.
Hoping to option the pro. Cause the trailhunter and pro need a baby
That color with those wheels is what I would get (the trailhunter).
Limited sounds good choice since it is awd and not complicated as hybrid plus has more room inside , functional as a utility vehicle for Canadian market.
I would love to see a video comparing the Land Cruiser to the 4Runner. Can’t decide if I should buy the LC FE or the 4Runner trd pro.
Ill take a Limited in Everest Blue/Green
Can't wait to see these in the Walmart parking lot instead of dirt😂
You don’t want dirt in a turbo anyways. Let’s just keep that advice from those that had bad luck with turbos as it is.
I’ll be one of them, but i prefer Target 😂
@Anomize23 With how sick the Sequoias looked, I was stressing getting last year's 4runner limited model, but now I'm happy. This wasn't worth the wait imo
@@Anomize23 that is why i stick with my 2020 v6
Everyone’s gotta get groceries 🤷🏻♂️
Sweet! Excited to see the SR5 and Offroad. Great video!
Kirk Kreifels you probably will not see this but had to put in a second comment , is that Everest color as stunning in person as it looks on video? I am absolutely Gaga over it. 😂😂😂
is that a true factory rated recovery point or is it just a tie-down point for when they're shipping the car? (I think its the latter based on owners manual of 5th gen)
Limited looks awesome
It looks so 90s with the green and the black glass in the back, love it
That green color looks awesome.
Kirk kreifels friend keep up the great work 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😃😃💪💪💪👍👍👍👍
5th gen 4runner limited , my biggest complaint was 3rd row air conditioning outlets, none available. i watched many 6th gen reviews so far and i don't see them being added, here in Florida we need more air conditioning for the 3rd row seating.
Have we seen the lower trim level interior yet? I'd like to see some cloth seats. 8 years and 180K miles in and my TRD Pro is still going strong.
I really like the Trailhunter. For my off road life makes all the sense in the world. The TRD Pro leaves me kind of ... meah. It's only flashy. I was never a fan of Tacomas. To cramped and rough on the passengers, in regards to seats and suspension. But I have high hopes for the 4Runner and I am so happy they made this new one. Also, I appreciate that they are not cramming those 3rd row seats in the back, as they were never very useful, spacious, comfortable, and they ate a lot of luggage space.
Toyota is killing it.. can’t handle all this SUV goodness after over a decade! Head blown 😂
Yeah so many coming out this year.
American off road beast.
Folding rear window is my favorite feature
What a color!!!!
New 4 runner is a home run from Toyota.❤. Toyota is on a roll. Excellent video from KRIK like always.
long live krik
@@pyrexcookin 👍
Not a home run yet. Let’s see.
... Until you realize the wait times.. "KRIK" Haha. Way to pay attention while blaming auto-correct LMAO
@@user-jm5dw3gm8y yes it's a home run already from everything that people really care about things like power performance torque mpg exterior design comfort interior design off road ability and more. So please keep your lecture and fear mongering campaign to yourself.
Also I will wait 2 years to get one till they improve the 6 th gen
Of all the recently brand-new Lexus and Toyota vehicles, I love the new 4 Runner, my #1 favorite. It is very appealing, inviting, and attractive. Factory-installed Snorkel exhausted pip🥰, new exterior color🥰, 14-inch screen🥰, based on Tacoma🥰, and Made in Japan🇯🇵-Trail Hunter 4-Runner is what the best off-road TOYOTA is all about. Nowadays, every SUV is getting bigger😳 and more expensive🥺. I can drive daily drive and weekend adventures😎. I love the new 4 Runner. I love TOYOTA😘.
The loops attached to the frame on 4Runners are not rated recovery hooks. They are just tie down points for the boat ride over from Japan to North America. The Tacoma Trailhunter has real ARB recovery points included in its build with a steel bumper. Both are missing from the 4Runner Trailhunter.
Yooo! How do you always see them first before me! And I work for Toyota. Glad to get the news tho! Now I get to show your video at work 👍
Awesome review, I'm just grateful 3rd row is available
Kirk, where will the new 4Runner be built?
I think the platinum will be my choice. Hoping there is rear sunshades and optional center console safe.
Looking forward to see a review on the TRD offroad when its available!
Bought a new 1998 4x4 Silver 4-runner SR-5. An awesome vehicle. Build quality was amazing. The only downsides were low range and poor gas mileage. I also bought a new 1979 "Son of Landcruiser" factory 4x4 black pickup (1st model sold in the US). Again great build quality, but low range and poor gas mileage. I am really hoping Toyota will come PHEV version of the 4-runner and Tacoma with good range (having a decent range is a must have for me). These look really nice!
A Japanese brand, still made in Japan. Wish we could get that option on the new Tacomas....
Fuel mileage???
I was thinking of getting a 2024 Limited, but I do like the 2025. Hopefully, adding 17" wheels and tires without rubbing will be easier on the Gen 6 than it is on the Gen 5.
They got it right with that color, Everest!
Trail hunter is lit!!😵😵😵🔥
And your wallet is also lit.
Those rear side windows need to be hinged at the top and pop out at the bottom. Like the green color but with the limited models on display, I’ve only seen bits and pieces that I would like or need for myself.
Waiting for your hybrid Tacoma review this week
I just want this model with the 2 seats in the back
Platinum is interesting to me
I'll take the limited with some class and drop my own suspension into it. Old man emus are decent springs but you can take the money saved and go get a legit toytec lift installed.
It’s too bad you cannot get the third row with the hybrid
I prefer this new 4 runner over the new 2024 Tacoma and tundra it look 👀 nice
wow what a treat! I did not expect a trailhunter version of the 4runner so soon!
I would buy an SR5 with Softex seats and the better infotainment screen. Hoping the price will be below $45k
😂😅 keep dreaming
Why would you pay money to be a guinea pig?
@@masato3981 stop telling other people what to do with their money. You toxic hardcore enthusiast.
They can take my money
Imo, Jeep sales, maybe in trouble once Toyota works out the bugs and the production.
Are you planning on showcasing or reviewing the SR5?
Manufacturers always make top trims available first to showcase all the features.
I want a trail hunter but most likely will be able to afford a sr5 or maybe a trd off road
I'm torn between this and the Land Cruiser 2024
This matches my 1993 SoCal beach bike perfectly
Me: Race Yellow 💛 Him: Cheddar Cheese 🧀
The cheddar cheese looks race car ready.
Get rid of the roof rack and hybrid and I would buy one. Going to be much better aftermarket roof racks.
8:25 "Lexus Quality" bro for that price it should be quality, but also that is just a piece of fake leather with Velcro
The Everest color is nice
Bad ass updates Body colors and wheel design are super cool
The exterior will need to grow on me. I like the 5th gen better. The LC 250 looks great in comparison. I’ll wait 1-2 years to upgraded to either the LC, 6th Gen or GX. Less kinks. More options.
Yea I agree, the exterior has grow me. The 5th generation is one of the best looking 4Runners! Love the new colors on the new Runners though!
Knowing that there will be no 6MT, I would go for the Trailhunter.
Great job Toyota! On the TRD PRO fenders like the Trail Hunter would be more practical. Thank for the awesome video!
Trail hunter vs Limited : tough choice
Do you know at this point the external body dimensions between the new 2024 GX 550 compares to the new 2025 4Runner? I’m considering both but I as far as I know the new GX 550 is a bit wider and longer compares to its previous GX 460. It probably won’t fit in my driveway for 2 cars parked side by side. Thanks for the updated video Kirk.
Fitst like!!❤
Thanks for all the 4Runner coverage, Kirk! I would go Trailhunter over TRD Pro on the 4Runner. Trailhunter really seems to fit with the 4Runner since people have been making them overlanding rigs for years. I like the TRD Pro more on the Taco for a Baja truck feel! Great job on the redesign Toyota 🎉
I doubt they will make more trail hunters than pros but they totally should. Not many of us are Baja racing but many of us are Overlanding our 4Rs
TRD Pro will still make a very capable overlander for 90% of what people do on a typical weekend. If you still want more hardcore from the factory, then Trailhunter all the way. It’s nice to have choices though.
Limited trim best suits me, I already have my '16 Limited Tundra TRD OFF road for hunting/camping/off road
Excited to finally see this trim. Much overdue design and power train update
I believe the weight limit of the roof rack can handle 1 Yuri!
I bet the dealer will charge extra for those Trail hunter floor mats !!!!!!
Do you know if the Everest color is a trail hunter exclusive color? Or can you get the Everest color in TRd Pro too?
Toyota didn’t give us any removable panels or a roof, it it would have been nice to have pop out rear quarter windows.
I'm so disappointed with the rear look. I thought they'd evolve it to something more aggressive looking. Hopefully there will be a mid-cycle refresh.
I love it and want the limited. I had to check the website to make sure this is foreal 😊
It looks so nice but pricing will be insane.
The limited is for me.
I love the new 2025 changes & upgrades. You did a Super job with the commentary also! Very comprehensive
Did they tell you if it can fit 4x4 drywall between wheel wells?
Is the trail hunter higher or lower than the TRD Pro?
I believe it’s higher by a little bit
I will pick the limited with third row seating…
If you're planning to constantly use the third row, maybe the sequoia is the one for you or even Sienna.
Kirk, can you give us the dates of the embargo lifts on the other Toyota vehicles?
Engine start stop button, top marks to Toyota for that.
Kirk, Can You get Green Exterior 💚 with Brown 🤎 interior in the Trail Hunter.? 🇺🇲🙂😎
Platinum
Just me, but I’d take the Lexus GX 550 over the 4Runner.
Is there less rear legroom in the 6th gen compared to the 5th (despite this new one being longer)?
Are there any scheduled driving events for the Land Cruiser like they had in Scotland?
These things are going to sell!
With 20k markups
Nah, even the new LC first edition here are only $5k markup. This is not 2020-22 anymore.
For mall crawlers
I was getting ready to get a new RX 450H, but this video changed my mind; 4Runner it is!
Do you know if the snorkel s optional or removable?
No 3rd row in hybrid is so disappointing. Toyota has a gap in product line up in offroad segment with no 3 row in hybrid
Looks great, wow, unfortunatly not for Europe 😢😢😢
